Ok. So I've seen like, 3 threads get derailed and de facto killed by falling sky posts. For the purposes of keeping everything in order, I ask those unhappy with the Casual/Blogcentric direction that Vs is going:
What's the problem?
Players are being empowered, and listened to. UDE is listening to us as a group. HL, MW, and a bunch of other acronyms are still going strong(If the new Fate isn't awesome to you I don't understand). Can I get an 8 digit on where to find this shattered sky, and the falling pieces thereof?
I do not enjoy being metaphorically kicked in the groin repeatedly by a company and told to like it, and that is what I feel Upper Deck has done with their direction with this game. I am not talking about money tournaments because I never played in those. I am talking about everything else. By that I mean, no more prereleases, no more articles except for what is written on other people's sites, etc., etc. They are slowly stripping away any support what so ever for the game as time goes on.

You know what hurt versus in my area? I'm not being argumentative, but two of the main players quit the game and started saying the game was dead. So while we have a dozen players with Vs decks sleeved and ready to roll, we have trouble getting people to events because of the negativity. The only thing falling bits of sky can crush is the motivation to play.
The game's doing well, and mistakes were made. It's withstanding and thriving even in a sea of fail(at times). I don't have a time machine, so going back and making UDE print the proper amount of MXM and on isn't going to happen. We are here. Let's talk forward, not backward. I've already been victim to a negative perception damaging a positive reality.
Prozak use to play here, but stoped. We had upwards of 18 people playing here, now we struggle to get 6. I hope people will come back. It's a great game, and we will suport it till the end.
But the one thing that I still can't overlook is they aren;t printing enough cards for the demand they have at a base level, and that is NEVER a good sign with a hobby product. No matter how you slice it.
Legends wasn't the sign, they didn't print enough Xmen... that was the first one that missed. Then Marvel legends misses the mark HORRIBLY. So what do they do? Under print DC Legends also? Was one set earlier too far back to remember?
No, these werent mistakes. Not on that scale. They had a target number, and they printed it. People still play L5R, but it is not alot. People still play Vampire too. I want a thriving community, even if it is local and casual, and to have that, you need cards.
No cards, no community.
I don't know how many times I need to go over this... but the scarcity was not an intentional thing. Please read this post for my thoughts about this:
And this is the first time I heard of an MXM shortage. I still have half a case at my store if you need some.
I think one other factor people gloss over is the fact that VS went to a 2 sets a year schedule so it amplifies the actual shortage. Usually another set would be out by now and players would be less likely to want to buy MVL/DCL because they want the newest set. But since there is no other set right now... their only alternatives are the last 2 that were out... so demand is higher than it was during the 4 set rotation.
A retort for that was that UDE SHOULD have know a 2-set rotation would have caused higher demand for MVL/DCL so they should have printed more. My response would be... what if UDE wasn't even sure there would be a 2-set rotation.... what if there weren't even supposed to be any MORE sets of VS? Printing what may have been the last sets of a product to the numbers that have been forecast was the best business decision to make. Lucky for us... the increased demand has convinced UDE to continue to provide support for a game that many other companies would have already written off.
It's all relative... sure... things aren't as peachy as days gone by... but right now... what we have... is WAY more than what was planned (based on my conjecture of course). I understand for some people, that worries them... but for me... it's a positive sign that UDE is willing to continue to put support into a product due to the loyalty of its player base... because honestly... they are probably making ZERO on VS.
