My Pet Dragon: SIDELINE ACTIVE: If a friendly character named Shadowcat took damage since your last turn, place Lockheed adjacent. // If Lockheed started the game due to the My Pet Dragon trait, when he takes damage, after resolutions, return him to your sideline.
Scourge Of The Brood: Combat values +1 when targeting or targeted by a character with the Brood keyword.
Get 'Em: Enhancement. Empower, but only when adjacent to a friendly character named Shadowcat.
heather - really interesting take on her. I enjoy the leadership focus. She earns her points from the alone. It showcases her difference in leadership by taking (presumably) Mac's ata and flipping it to defense. I like the big swing they'd get kw specific. And her leadership sp being keyed off of specific characters instead of kw bonuses is very clever and absolutely drowning in story. Loving it, man. Scuttled stats (that's not her role - yet) and classic commander powers to keep her out of trouble, turning to more heroic staying in the thick of it to support is some great progression keeping her streamlined to that neat role
illyana - wow is that a taxi. Smart making every bit of it POWER. No passenger til you pull the trigger but more importantly the speed comes in it. I really like the mundane speed being superboosted by the power. There's something about a speed spike paired with p/t to really drive it in that it's not that she's fast, she's 'porting. Really dig it. The conditional defense isn't going to swing a lot in a battle but it is going to keep bystanders and most minions from getting easy points on her. The actual heroes and villains will have to step up and go after her because their troops are too superstitious to take the swing. Brilliant way too pull off the flavor text . End dial of popping up is always nice and keeps her from being one note. Absolutely the right call to put it end dial (when taxiing is less significant) than topdial (where it'd be overmuch for the cost)
lockheed - I don't think there was anyone as a kid that didn't absolutely want him as their own pet. Such a good boy. And I'm not blowing smoke up your bum (or fire for that matter) when I say this is hands down the absolute best dial for lockheed I have ever -or could ever - see. Character nods, infusion of story, mobility, modest stats, great pecking role, supportive synergy keyed to character, and that sideline mechanic is tops. The trigger is spot on, the limitation so you're not just cheating cheap points is the right kind of balance that isn't obtrusive. Dangit man, now I'm so upset this isn't real
I'm pretty sure that not liking Lockheed is a sign of sociopathy and inability to feel any kind of human joy.
Scourge Of The Brood, thank you for this. I can't believe he's never gotten this as a trait or ability in Heroclix.
Get 'Em, Ohoho, when combined with this sets Shadowcat thatis going to be big fun.
When I was designing the dial, I was thinking back to his origin story and it hit me that the brood element has never been played upon (understandably). I just had to have it to feel complete.
I also had to have something showing the bond with Kitty.
PS Those were the exact panels I was thinking of when I designed the trait.

You probably get a little much for Heather's cost, but with the 0's on attack and damage, I felt like I could get away with more. She doesn't appear to be out of balance, and I guess that's what's important.
Magik looks more like a M-OP design, mostly because of the focus and cheapness of it. I wanted a 30 pts version that players could insert into a New Mutant build (using, of course, my NM set). So I decided to ignore the negatives (mostly) and focus on her taxi ability. The randomness of her speed value is (as TKD pointed out) to reflect her youthful control issues.
RE: Lockheed - Thanks. It is a wonderful complement to be accredited with creating the perfect anything. Lockheed is such a classic and beloved character, I had to do him justice.
Having an option for a Mystic or Monster team that not only ignores the Mystic team ability but positively goes for its throat is always going to be a boon.
Making it cheap enough to slip into almost any team and disposable enough to latch onto a target and not care if it gets picked off in the process is just the icing on the demonically dainty devils food dessert!
Especially since if you get caught in a situation were they aren't immediately useful they still make great axis that are tough enough to take a few pot shots.

nice consumers, here. i appreciate the theme specific bonuses, they help to keep them trim. nice, disposable monsters. i especially dig the printed 3s hopscotching the blades.
i have come to truly appreciate the value of generic generics. they can fill even more roles than intended and help to flesh out other themes as appropriate, too
SCULPT NOTE: Believe it or not, this was the only cross-legged John Byrne drawn image I could find. Not a great model for the sculpt, but I really wanted to use Byrne. Side note: funny enough on pinterest someone has put what looked like an obvious rob liefeld drawing on a page of supposed John Byrne Alpha Flight art. It was like "one of these things is not like the others."

What's In The Pouch: You may include up to 5 objects if 60 points or 3 objects if played at 50 points onto your sideline by paying their cost
Sacree Mysticism: Sidestep. FREE: Chose a power with an effect that ends at the beginning of your turn and assign Shaman a Concentrate token. While he has a token assigned, he has IMMOBILE, can not take actions, and the chosen effect does not end at the beginning of your turn. At the end of your turn, you may clear the Concentrate token.
(60 Points)Medicine Pouch: FREE: EITHER choose a standard damage power to use until you use this power again -OR- place an object from your sideline adjacent.
(50 Points) Medicine Pouch: FREE: EITHER Outwit at no cost -OR- place an object from your sideline adjacent.
TELEPORTATION SPELL (PHASING/TELEPORT)
WINDS TO CARRY YOU (TELEKINESIS)
SUMMON A WINTER STORM (SMOKE CLOUD)
MYSTICAL BOLTS (PRECISION STRIKE)
FETISH CHARMS (ENERGY SHIELD/DEFLECTION)
TOTEM PROTECTORS (BARRIER)
I like the option to have story focus ( 60 point ) Shaman or background character Shaman ( 50 points ).
What's In The Pouch, would special objects be available if either they were no cost or if you paid the cost at construction?
Sacree Mysticism, Ah, now this is were the magic begins, a maintainable Outwit, Perplex, etc is pretty nifty and its going to paint a huge target on Dr. Twoyounmen.
"Can we get a big furry & or metal guy to keep Shaman alive?....yes? Excellent!"
Like a good team magic user Shaman is a Swiss Army knife plugging holes and opening up opportunities to exploit.
Personally I see myself playing him at 60 more often, but I like his character and the flexibility is more than worth the point cost for me.
If your looking to use Michael as a super Outwit machine with a side order of TK 50 will do ya.

Yeah I wanted a cheap generic that you wouldn't mind sending out as cannon fodder. The low cost was essential. Too many players don't appreciate the pawn-characters.

That was the idea. I wanted them to be specific to the story (so the anti-mystic effects), but I wanted these guys to be broadly useful.

Yes, you could add special objects as long as you pay the cost. I was afraid it might be a little overpowered, but since you pay the cost, I figured why not.
The concentration effect might be too limiting. Maybe I should drop the IMMOBILE part. The no actions were there to prevent him from using the power twice, mostly I didn't want him being able to use Outwit twice. on a 50 pts figure. I wouldn't mind him using Smoke cloud a second time, but it may get a little OP with him able to keep adding smoke cloud terrain (or barrier).

(75 Points) Voice Booming in Your head: Willpower. When Professor X hits an opposing character with a range attack, after resolutions, if the character has no action tokens assigned, assign it one.
Don't Fry Their Brain: Penetrating/Psychic Blast. If Professor X is 75 points, instead he has Range Combat Expert, but damage dealt is penetrating damage.
Founder of The X-Men: When Professor X is on an X-Men or New Mutants theme team, ACTION TOTAL: +1. If Professor X is 75 points, Perplex.
WORKING LEGS (SIDESTEP)
I NEVER INVADE ANOTHER'S MIND (MIND CONTROL)
MENTALLY STUNNED (INCAPACITATE)
TELEPATHY (SUPER SENSES)
THE X-MEN ARE MINE TO LEAD (MASTERMIND)
IMPOSE A MENTAL BLOCK (OUTWIT)
shaman - the king of cross legs! while i'd like to see him in a different sculpt for a change, i don't fault you for going with the classic. i like the overall presentation of the dial. good support, as to be expected, coupled with modest values that are quite open to modification given the open-endedness of his sp. i really like the experiment here for the same dial but different play experience for the cost. i think the ability to bring in outside elements is quite strong, especially given the flexibility with it. i really like the 's ability to prolong effects, it'll work wonders with his printed smoke and barrier as well as the option to use outwit or to PaP perplex. the only thing i think is a bit overmuch here is the considerable power for the price uptag. 10 points for swapping outwit for that much of a PaP is a no-brainer. and that's before the extra 2 objects you'll be able to bring into the game (good interpretation of his medicine bag, btw). i think it'd work better if the PaP was only limited to dmg powers, but ymmv
chuck - another experiment in same dial different experience. i really dig this approach. through all the permutations i find it funny that you can mess up and field chuck with a "blank" . speaking of, i dig he's got the swarm-boosting action upping, but he doesn't get the full leadership treatment. subtle nod to the "professor x is a jerk" era? seems he traded his personality for the use of his legs. swapping the sp ppb for rce (letters letters letters) is a nice oomph to his mental teeth (and what a bad mental image that becomes) and stacking it with his 75 will make that mind punch hit oh so hard. this isn't waify chuck, he's letting you know why his psychic reputation is well-earned. but all that stuff is great cherries-on-top, the ice cream base i'm mostly enjoying are those attack values and all that mc and especially the doubletap incap thanks to his
Firstly love the Leadership work around to get an additional action on your theme teams. That's invaluable especially in this day and age.
Seems like Chuck is having problem with his volume control and your opponents are going to catch it ALL CAPS FULL BLAST!
I don't know what I like better the chance to double token with Incapacitate or the chance to Mind Control and token like the old days. PPB with a token is placing a nice little cherry on that potential 4 damage.
With all the bells and whistles I don't think I could resist running him at 75.
Also is it just me or is that Chuck's head on Cypher's body?
Edit: It seems the Baron and I enjoy the same things about Charley!
