Its nice to see the him again, I remember when he premiered and I've always been a sucker for characters that just want to earnestly help.
--And I Believe In Truth, Justice, And The Dignity Of Man, I like Battlefury figures that I can get some opening carrying in with before the berzerker begins and the Empower and Speed boost is much appreciated.
…I Just Want To Use My Powers To Make Life Better For Mankind, not only great flavor text but an excellent lead in for a possible comeback for Elvin.
Battlestar was a character that I was hoping would make an appearance considering his origin and you did not disappoint!
Not saying anything bad about John ( USAgent ) but I always felt that Lemar might be the better all around fighter......although John has the "Angry never stop berzerker" thing down pat!
No Zombie Gets Past Me!, throwing down the more obscure references and giving neat late dial surprises!
Try And Stop Me, Powell! I Gots Lots To Prove And Nothin' To Lose!, this really makes Lemar feel heroic and acts as a hard counter to some tricky strategies.
Also I love that you opened him up with "Slam" in offense, he's going to be far more dangerous than his dial might first indicate...MWAHAHAHAHA!
....Also I appreciate the mid-dial "Nimble"...I uh..tend to have Breakaway problems.
That last click is on point!
When fighting Monster keyworded opponents ( and lets face it that's not going to be hard to pull off if you know your opponents figures ) Lemar is going to go down like a champion.
Two possibilities to spoof out of damage all together, tie down an enemy and give them a free smack and the CCE to really lay into that fool.

i heard him refered to as marvel's billy batson, and in a toxic crusader kind of way it kind of fits. a boy with the power (and form of a man) but lacking the maturity and presumed wisdom of a man, he's got more of a prime thing going on (or rather, the other way around). he had some serious power, though. commonly relegated to the minors (pun intended) he had major league speed, strength and motivation! i mean, he basically fussed at cap to get onto the avengers. and it worked!
elvin was an early include because of the wrestler look and his brief appearance in secret wars to (shown for his signature move pic) explicitly referred to it and finally gave him some context as he briefly tag-teamed with d-man (canonicity is questionable, but i say go for it). as the single-leg crab was the only move he was shown doing, so signature move it is . with this interpretation of the maneuver, he gets to use submission hold, but at a cost(ed action), especially since he lacks wp. normally, it's a rough ask, a click for a click. BUT if no one's used leadership (don't tell me what to do) he gets to deal his printed dmg instead and that, on a no-roll, is definitely worth the push imho
furthering his personality through powers, the sp is trying to capture his motivation. chip on his shoulder gold in his heart, out to prove himself and knowing how the world should be only like a teenager confidently could, the bf/and empower shows his reaction and his motivation respectively, while the speed boost is meant to rep his sprint capacity as well as let him be more reactionary to the injustices of the match
and thanks for digging the regen flavor. some of the flavor was pulled from the initiative run (the track), but most of it was from his first appearance which i also used for the sculpt art. gotta get the classic yellow mask into clix, after all. anything other than that overly '90s spikes magee look (ah, who're we kiddin', i'd want that clixed, too )

thankee, thankee. no chance i'd leave lemar out. the pool of notable wrasslers is too shallow to overlook any. i'd hate to have a set without them. and the notorious buckies was lousy with them. so much so, that john was the odd man out. lemar really really grew as a character. from a throwaway goon to an earnest guy, i really love that he took the b-route as it were and got to show up on tons of teams. heroclix is the perfect game to showcase all those under-the-radar associations and i tried to cram a lot of those stories onto his dial. i know he's been clixed before (thankfully) but rare enough that i want it all here, you know?
battlestar always fascinated me. of the plethora of not-caps, he had a really cool costume and totally rocked the old school shield. he always seemed to be his own man, too, which is admittedly odd, given he literally showed up to be the next buck, but maybe it was the near-immediate abandonment of that borrowed identity to "nightwing" himself that let him stand out. but seriously, check out how the chest star blends the two color schemes of his suit, and that unapologetic high collar? *whistles* good stuff
i give him plenty of wrestling stuff in his dial, topdial invuln to rep the shield a bit more, but the is intended to be the real tone-setter. coming from his initial foray into silver sable's wild pack, he was so earnest, like he was trying extra hard not to be relegated to the limbo pile with other forgotten characters after their initial arc was up. i just wanted that on the dial, so he's got pointedly not-bf resilience against the things that would hold him back (lots to prove) and the FREE attack when he fails breakaway (nothin' to lose) lets you go for bold moves knowing you can fall back on a sock to the jaw of whomever scuttled it. the ultimate payback for that plasticity piece . he then transitions into a string of nimble that culminates in plasticity, so even when the sp leaves the dial, the spirit of not being held back is held throughout
with a lot of these characters, especially the wrestlers, i'm going for a resurgence on their end dial. a down-but-not-out and that fits lemar. his end dial is drawing from his MULTIPLE marvel zombies appearances (seriously, he kept showing up ), especially when he was the big muscle to rescue the norms against the zombie squadron supreme (yay for subtheme crossovers!) where he was just the friggin' man. so he's gonna hold the line to save the world against unwinnable odds and by golly, mission accomplished! modest stats aside from the defense uptick, but with the powers to make you feel like you're sweating to get there but you can work it. and kw bonuses are the reason i personally think generic KWs exist

Lennox and Johnson continue to fill out the expanded UCWF plot link that ran through the Captain America book and I appreciate it.
....Although I suspect you wanted the chance to do mirror dials across these two!
Signature Move: Double-Team, you've made the most of Jerry and Hectors unique fighting style and upped the fun quotation......you're really making me want to pick up some wrestlers to throw into my games.
Tag Team: Left-Winger And Right-Winger, Jerry and Hector came across as surprisingly effective in there final fight against Walker...although they didn't expect that John had gone full berzerker at that point and this is a good way to pull off the switchy tricks that they were so good at.
Left and Right Winger have what is honestly one of the darker storylines....especially how the ended....dang and I'm glad to see them get a mention and with their inclusion in the Limbo keyword ( Legion of Unliving for the win! ) they're going to pop up in some unexpected places.

oh, man, did it ever get dark quick! from petty publicity squabbles to threatening parents, to a battle royale to the death! to the death of his own parents as a result of his identity going public. to their limbo resurrection and even more graphic second death. whew, did it not work out for these bi-partisan bad guys.
and the continuation of the power broker's reach throughout cap's comics with these wrestlers is 100% an excuse to do mirror dials . man, you called me out on the nose . is it cheap? yes. is it cheesy? yes. are these reasons why i like it and not the cons? also yes . it was the meta-attempt to play into their names and mirror imaged outfits, so their inverted bell curve dials start on opposite ends (bizarro format won't phase them 1 bit) and they employ powers that can work on either end and should provide the brawler feel for both while being different enough to feel distinct til they swap places.
speaking of trading spaces, the two of them have a signature move that's trying to show them, well, double-teaming their enemies. so getting the full gamut of slam felt like the simplest way to make you feel the assist (trust me, i tried over-thinking it ) and even more so if they both use their signature moves back-to-back. similar to my threejokersdesign in the who's who set before, i'm trying to design them both for a sf economic swap and for side-by-side teamup play, depending on your druthers. so the tag-team mechanic i'm introducing here is the attempt to make you feel like one of them is tagging out by reaching to the ropes and letting the fresh man come in, or to simply keep you on your toes as they bounce around each other while outnumbering and outmaneuvering their foe
I remember really liking that second 12 part mini-series they did in the 80's. I should revisit it and see if it holds up.
Now, to Ikaris. No wax wings here, just straight hoss with his Secret Kung Fu Smash - I mean that name just says everything you need to know... am I right?
I like his Using the Power of the Eternals! special power. Very cool effect.
I especially like how this design inverts my pervious observation of the V/E dials. I also like how squishy he gets. I mean he has the stop clicks and regen, so he's definitely Eternal-level hard to KO, not to mention that wonderful top dial invincible, but naked Super Senses is a nice change for the character.

If John's powers didn't work out so well I'd have to accuse you of going over the top to get that star spangled dial....but darn it he had that torch and he let the Buckys take a lot of the lumps for him....dang it you pulled it of Baron, congratulations!
He's Hardly Fit To Be A Symbol Of The Social Security!, woo and John comes out swing'n. This fits the Super Patriot brand to a tee and it also makes him an unexpected threat.
If You Beat Me In Battle, I'll Confess To Any Ol' Thing You Want, ya sneaky dog anything that might have been missing from John's dial is resting nice and pretty on his damage line.
It also makes Super Patriot a balanced figure by giving your opponent a real incentive to take John down HARD.
Clearing action tokens and healing when he KO's an opponent is going to make sure you play him as aggressively as he deserves......and I can't help but think that he is going to be a punishment to all those that would abuse pog generators....just say'n.
John's got a rocky road ahead of him and he's starting out as he means to continue.

I'm liking the trend I see of the vet dial being a 'marvel' dial and the exp dial being the wrestling dial. It especially fits well with ol' Dennis
The defense SP is something else. I love the kickout heal. You really personify his refusal to fix a fight well in this power.
And that damage SP. I mean, that is just my jam.
Great job.
yeah ol' dunph was a completely different animal before the d-man phase. and that wild, extra red look with the mohawk was so '80s . i don't stick to it hard and fast, but the vet is a little plus while the exp is pure wrestling. it'll help him to fit into wwe matches better if you so desire.
a lot of this dial is pulling from his initial arc as the main rival to ben for the belt. their match had some great banter and he's stickler for an up and up match helped to define his integrity early on. so i wanted that here with his effects keeping things pure and tenacious. no tricks, just brawlin'. and it enabled me to further incorporate "4" effects into his dial to rep his title reigns. if you don't put him down quick, denny is going to keep coming back between his steal energy and kick out kicker. it was a way to make him tougher to put down within the dial length without relying on the usual STOP and heavy reducers
but what's a brotha gotta do to get some revengers? amirite? i know it was a simple story years ago, and we've gotten about half of them clicked, but all the remaining holdouts are honest-to-goodness characters that deserve their own time in the light of clix by now, surely?

all cost-cutting measures, of course. i work around it with the aforementioned STOP clicks but i wanted to emphasize his speed and maneuverability in this dial. it's certainly the fighting style he employed against enigmo, not going for blow-to-blow but being skilled and clever. this includes using his eternal power to unveil the true form of enigmo (well, at least to himself due to the glamor on the ring itself) so a little utility in the anti-stealth/sc (and scuttle TAs for good measure, as many provide stealth and sc and i wouldn't be opposed to deviants getting skrulls ta). ol' iceberg "ike" harris was a short-lived thing, but forever remembered and embraced by fandom. what a great excuse for ikaris to be in the set (and provide sculpt reuse for amphibian).
but as the dial goes down and his speed values dwindle, his speed powers speed up. there's a kind of balance there i enjoy. and with dial-length support on top of that, i felt the need to take the edge of with his defenses, at least once he gets knocked through that thick wall of invince
secret kung fu smash was such a gift. it had a name and enough of an allure to serve so well as the signature move the dial needed. i gave it a stunning blow-style tweak that should have a different enough of an effect to be a distinctive to get you to reach for him

John's got a rocky road ahead of him and he's starting out as he means to continue.
hahahahahaha, oh yeah i went for it HARD . i mean, it's probably closer to the texas flag than anything, but it's as close as i could get it. i considered light blue powers, you can finagle the mc for how he whipped up the crowds, but the incap was the style he was preaching against and barrier would've been a tough sell for border control, so i went dark blue and it worked out better than it had a right to . short-range ppb for the torch and throwing stars, mm for his use of the buckies as goons and most importantly fall guys for working both sides of the angle and the plasticity for all the times he tried to force steve into a confrontation. flurry was a no-argument, and the ss was easy enough to fit. between it all, it was just a matter of filling the SPs with what i had to cede for the aesthetics and bob's your uncle
the intent with the sp was to make you fight rough with him, and to make your opponent want to take him down, both as you stated. i think there's some give and take to it, too. he gets to keep healing and keep swinging, but if he does go down it's got a big title-character-like penalty. so i felt ok making his gains so strong. the not-sharing-kw thing was to rep his nationalism and while i thought of putting some outwit protection on it, i figured that'd hurt your opponent more than you as he'll want you to put his characters on john's card so he has a chance to score them (as he exposes john's deeds in a side mission kind of way) and if he ko's john without the sp he doesn't get anything. a real morton's fork, here
thank you, kindly. this is one that's been floating around in the back of my head ever since wwe came out. seems like a perfect match of material and is probably only a matter of time before the powers that be run with it for its crossover appeal alone. i'm just trying to beat them to the punch
but yeah, i'm burnt out, so this'll be my last one. i just really don't enjoy the direction the game is going in and i don't want to design around it. so instead of being frustrated, i'm going to simply step away. it's also why i'm posting 2 dials a day instead of my usual tempo of 1 so as not to draw it out. maybe if the game reverses course and heads back to the robust and rich design milieu we had before the madness set in, and maybe if power creep leap actually reverses, but til then i'll be fading off into the sunset with good memories and more clix than i'll ever have time to play in my obsolete format
so, here's to POWERBOMB! i hope it'll be a fun ride. it sure was fun to design ...and redesign as i kept cramming more dials, concepts and subthemes in here to make the most of it
Believing that WK might actually do a set like this is giving them a little too much credit I think. I mean, they'd actually have to read comics to know there was all this wrestling going on in the MU. This is why we need people like you to let them know all the possibilities their little game could reach.
I totally understand the choice to walk away. Its something I'm working through myself. But I at least had to get my War of the Realms and Loki sets out of my system before I do. Probably a Future Avengers set too (something's gotta be done about your kids!) I personally concider your leaving the greatest tragedy of the new rules, right next to losing pushing. I hope to see you back sometime. Maybe you can find a venue that is sticking with the old rules. I know a bunch by me are.

Click Five, Agatha becomes a super efficient combat medic with the ability to make sure she can triage in peace with a little Force Blast and Impervious.
Click Eight, Aggy decided to roll up her sleeves and get stuck in. Not only does she have a trio of classic support powers but her Phasing/Teleport makes sure that she going to get where she needs to be.
Click Eleven, Now we get a particularly witchy click, with Mind Control, Barrier and Shape Change she's now we've completed the rainbow of support and can bend the wills of men!....and robots, monsters and even politicians!
