I honestly only became a little familiar with all of these in the last year or so; I had heard of all except Dream Theatre and Alter Bridge before that. Seems that people who know those two sometimes also are into Asian Rock, so that’s how I became a bit familiar with them. I did know Mark Trenonte from Creed and Myles Kennedy from Slash’s band, but not Alter Bridge. I don’t really know if any have ever been in Rock Wars, but I don’t think so.
I don't think any of them have but I have several Dream Theatre CDs but I'll confess that Pull Me Under is the song I like best by them.
This is the Alter Bridge song that I like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYG3BPvFOgs
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
I had a friend with perfect pitch who told me that Karen Carpenter also had it. I'm sure there's a list of singers who have it. Someone else made another statement that I truly believe in. They said, and I'm paraphrasing, "people tend to not always realize you don’t need to have a pretty sound to have a fantastic voice." I see that in great singers like Robert Plant, Janis Jopiin, Tom Waits, etc.
FWIW - That Bill Bailey piece is hysterical.
One of my favorite groups has a singer that some have described as a Japanese Janis Joplin. I don't really agree with that but can occasionally understand the comparison. Glim Spanky is heavily inspired by 60's rock and have really grown on me in the last couple of years. If we had gotten one more nomination, they would have been it.
Although I have focused on Japanese rock/metal recently, last week I heard a new (to me) South Korean group named DIH. I have no idea what that stands for, but the song, while pretty basic, rocks.
Those guys (gals) have been popping up in my YouTube feed because of their covers. This was the first time I listenend to a whole song by them. It was pretty good. The bass player plays a purple Spector, so that's already a win in my book.
10 or 15 years ago, maybe even 20, I heard a song. Don't remember where or when, but I recorded it on cassette so maybe an FM radio station. For all those years until a couple of years ago, I searched to find the song and band. I asked dealers at record shows, asked record store owners, asked Siri and Shazam, even asked behind the scenes for help from HcRealms. A couple of years ago, I gave up.
On a whim, I recently played it for Siri and Siri finally told me what it was. It was unbelievably weird to just see it on my phone. I had always thought it might be named "High Flyer", but it wasn't. This is the song, now in my playlists.

I appreciate how they took the blues a bit further and reeled in that rock making this proto-metal sound that Black Sabbath just perfected to be "the first". After discovering these bands it allows me to understand music a little more from that time and shows that there was more out there than what we think we know.
I do like the Frank Frazetta art.
The Dust album is a GREAT album and album cover.
I listened to a little bit of the beginnings to each of these albums [side note, I like how Dr. Fate says "please offer only 1 or 2 songs each day and Phant is all, hold by beer....albums], and I see where they fit in musically for that time, but I just couldn't get into the music.
I don't think I should be allowed to nominate songs anymore. Three female singers I picked have passed away very recently, including Sinead OÇonnor. So damn sad. Now I'm worried for Francois Hardy

Very sad news. Amazing talent. Here's a song she did with Afro Celt Sound System meant to help the band heal after the loss of Jo Bruce who was the son of Jack Bruce when he passed away.

I’ve watched a couple of DIH’s concerts on YouTube, and one of my favorite parts is when they do a no-name, somewhat freeform, rock intro to start the concert. Just a few minutes of fun, then into their songs. Not sure if they always do that but I’ve watched a couple.
And I was contemplating this morning...this type of music was really popular in the late 80s, so roughly 30 years ago.
So to compare it to the 80s, that would be like a bunch of upstart kids in the 80s coming in with a band with music from the 50s - so basically The Stray Cats.
Berks county (where I live) has a large Spanish population. I worked in food and service out of high school and was turned onto these guys by Spanish co-workers, back in the day. Has a big Rage Against the Machine feel to me. MolotovQue No Te Haga Bobo Jacobo (Mexico)
Ok, yeah, I'm really enjoying this. They could be talking about visiting your grandmother and having tea and I wouldn't care, this is pretty damn good.
These are both songs that I thought about nominating.
Catharsis is a pretty song. I like how they stick with the truth: you can't really have an acoustic bass with acoustic guitars and drums (unless it's a full size standup bass). They just stick with a regular electric bass, and it sounds good.

This was interesting in that it seemed like they were just taking turns lip synching, because I could not tell the difference if there was actually more than one person singing.
