Afternoon kids!
Thanks as always for the great work so far
Bit of house keeping, I figured I'd mention it now to give folks some time to consider - I'll be out for a little over a week in September so it makes sense to pass on the month to someone else so I needs not worry.
Anybody interested in ghost hosting for September?
1. Dragonfly2099. - The Lobster, Anti-Hero. First off, It's Lobster Johnson. Second, the text is terrific. The Plot points are cool and the "Ending Continuity" Trait is different and suits the character.. The SPs are are perfect and the dial is laid out nicely. Above all, it's simple. And it's Indy. Playability and collectability would earn this guy a spot in my collection with the other versions that have been done in these monthly contests. Excellent job, sir.
2. Rurouni KJS. - Cloak and Dagger. While I'm not the biggest Marvel fan anymore, I can appreciate the accuracy. These dials are outstanding. From top to bottom they play off each other flawlessly. There's a lot going on here but the way the powers are defined, the combat values are constructed, and the point cost reflects that these are effective yet not overpowered makes them near perfect. If Wizkids would make stuff like this I might play again. Beautiful job, sir.
3.No-Name - Pee Wee Herman. I saw Pee wee's photo here and thought " How can a heroclix version of Pee Wee do justice to the wonderful character. Well, the combat values are appropriate as is just about everything else. I really like it.
The best part of this endeavor? The flavor text. I'm a sucker for witty flavor text and boy oh boy, you completely nailed it. This was a trip to a simpler, happy time when I would watch the newest episode with my kids. The references to the Big Adventure were sweet as well. Would I play it? I sure would. But more importantly, this would earn itself a prominent spot in my collection. Respectful job, sir.
Superherojhn - Seraphimon Ok. I don't usually play 300 point OMAs but there's something intriguing about this character. At first I was taken aback by this guys defensive stats. but them I remembered that these days you make some pretty scary teams for 300 points so I can see that. I also like the colossal bystander. and he looks cool. I'd have Seraphimon in my collection.
HM - 2 Gun Kid - Penance and Squirrel Girl. I know these guys have their fans, but as characters they don't do much for me. This is a silly yet weirdly funny dial with a ton of Balls references. Almost too many. That being said, one can quickly discern that you have an affection for these goofballs. I could also see someone who's good at the game having some fun with this.
HM - Limelight451 - Jessica Rabbit.I will always have a place in my heart for this movie. The dial is simple and the text is nicely done. Now I want to see this movie again.
I'd collect this and virtually all of the cast. The famous cartoons could be bystanders so they wouldn't interfere with the main team. Nice job.
HM - LostGaladorian - Love & Hate. The song was nice, the dial is true to the lyrics and the overall theme, and it's different. I like when we as a group come up with something slightly off the beaten path. It deserves an honorable mention.
"Big whoop, I'm spooning a Barrett .50 cal. I could kill a building."
-Sterling Mallory Archer
"Alcohol may have been a factor."
We're overdue for Wizkids to make Joe on the Lawmaster and other 2000AD characters.
