Yes, they all are stupid baking shows. All of them (DC, cupcake wars, etc) typically only show very basic baking techniques, if at all.

They are more about the "drama" of the ticking clock then they are about the actual baking.

I had originally posted about a player I had to deal with. Now that it's done I'll go ahead and fill you guys in. Yesterday I had to ask a player not to play in our tournaments anymore (ban). It was the most uncomfortable thing I've had to do as a Judge. This guy has come to maybe (4?) tournaments and he had enough of an effect to make my players go to the owner of the venue. He is a Judge at another venue down in Des Moines, and that venue's owner has some bad blood with our owner after that owner tried to spread rumors about our store going out of business awhile ago which proved to be untrue (that may or may not have been an influence).

What happened was this guy's attitude really didn't mesh with my players at all (I'm trying to be diplomatic here). Clearly it was enough of a conflict for them to go to the owner. He also openly boasted about coming up to our venue to win LE's to bring back to his venue to use as prize support. I honestly don't care what you do with an LE after you win it (sell it, melt it, stick in your rectum, I don't care). He denied doing this, but I also heard him say these things, but again, I don't care about that part. Now he only won 1 tournament (got the Globe) and tied for first in one IG so it's not like he was capable of winning every time. There was just enough going on between him and half my player base that those players threatened to quit playing. I can only presume my owner didn't want to risk losing some of his best Heroclix customers in favor of one player that only bought the required sealed boosters during IG sealed play and didn't support the store beyond that?

Down in Des Moines, they get 2 IG kits because they have that many players. They are pretty much the only show in town in Des Moines so they have a huge player base. After this incident, I'm sure my venue and me personally will be slandered and I'll get a bad reputation among Iowa players. In the end I had to do what my owner wanted because it is his venue and I only run his tournament.
