Hi all,
I figured I would ask my fellow JF players first if they knew what the common procedure was in returning mis-matched pieces... I got Fireheart and Cynthia Kelly and I was wondering if I only have to send in Fireheart (shame, it would have been a great JF mech) or do I have to send in both.
Well they say that you have to send back both. This is also a bigger headache because of the uniqueness of the situation in the "Mech to pilot" mix-up. Wizkids stance is "Let the players trade and sort it out". My guess would be to contact them through the Contact-us link on the main page and ask them if there is anything special they are doing or if you have to find someone to trade with. That is the best info that I can give you.
Here's an army I made around the Vulture for an event coming up I'm playing in. It's 750 points and only units from Vanguard and Wolf Strike can be used (not including CECs).

This wouldn't be thir first time I've played it either. I find it works just like all our other Heavy Mechs but with much better defense and armor. Don;t let that Evade coax you into heating up too much though. The 4th and 5th clicks of heat can really hurt.
I'm hoping to take both the Madcat and the Vulture for a spin tonight in a 1500 pt game.
I'm tempted to try anti-P with the Vulture to mash infantry. I've also got a plan for the Madcat. I'm going to add a wingman to em to make it harder for charge attacks.
On another note, I'm considering using an Eyrie with the new AS gear card. It should be interesting. Any thoughts?
If you can provide cover for the Eyrie after it alpha strikes, to give it a chance to come back online, then it'd be cool to try but that is a lot of points to give up while only dealing 9 clicks. You'd be ahead of the game to use RISC Pulse if you have it, atleast you won't shut down. A PXK or some other low point mech with AS may be worth it but to me an Eyrie is to much to throw away. IMO
So anyone have any particular strategies using the WS CJF 'mechs?
I forsee them working exceptionally well as heavy flankers/Hunter-killer units.
Hold your center line('mechs like the Loki can do that fairly well), then use the Madcat and Vulture to run down a flank and cause massive damage. When the opponent tries to counter, your main line closes in and finishes them off.
BR, PHK, and Vixen.... with crappy die, do not a good army make.
BR had Mal and Lock-on and the PHK & Vixen had the same load out Adv. Pulse mod and the BF Star Comm. I got smoked in the story line I and it wasn't thanks to the meteors.

The army relies purely on the 24 decoy aspect with heavy hitter being the vulture and the vixens as wingmen. You could possibly switch out the other Vixen with a Phoenix Hawk (same cost) and use it to make massive AO over blocking or something. Either way it's an easy 600 pointer to run with, only problem is everyone at my venue is fed up with decoy (and my ecm DFAing falcons) so lots of people are packing Magnetic storm wich kills decoy, ecm and other fun equipment. Too bad you can only perfect day once. Let me know what you think.
I just played in a 750 point Wolf Strike/Vanguard only event so I used an infatry swarm backed up by a Vulture Mk IV and three Tokugawas. I didn't win but I did ok and I managed to capture 3 Atlases over the course of the day.
As for using older units I still use Black Rose quite often but besides that I don;t use many of them anymore. I stick pretty exlusively to the Hellbringer, Vulture, Mad Cat, Incubus and Phoenix Hawk.
We will also be starting a campaign here soon and I'll be playing Falcon so I should have some good reports to come in the near future.

I'll be in his area since my family lives there and if he is Man or Falcon enough to Accept .Then we have our Battle 1800 points and I'll name the venue later. His units must be Falcon none his Davion #### he has been playing for at least the last year according to my cousin. He just walks around with a Jade Falcon Key change say hey look I'm Falcon. So if he can make it or is man enough this Christmas Weekend. When was the last time the guy played Falcon?

When I opened my booster and got this same combo I emailed wizkids about it and they told me "Sorry but we dont have any replacement pieces for this available" Luckily I got lucky and pulled the BR "the Beast" Violator and the Liao pilot Thung Chu or however its spelled. At least now I have both pilots with there correct mechs.

whoa, its been a while since anybody posted here. So how is the war going? Any impressive CJF battles and victories recently?
Another question: Does anybody still use the older(Firepower or earlier sets) 'mechs? Any particualar favs?
We had a really good tourney last weekend. 1500 points faction pure mechs and pilots. No GS allowed. Mechs only and you had to have at least a star. We had 6 players show up and there was 6 different factions. Clan Wolf, Republic, Kurita, Liao, Steiner and my Jade Falcon army. This is what I used.
I went all out on the offense. With the extended range on Rose it gave her a 12 range with a 13 attack on primary and a 16 range with a 11 attack on secondary. The Gryfalcons had 16" and 18" ranges. The Thor has a 14" range. The BF Shrike had the shortest range of 12, but I gave it streaks.
I destroyed a Clan Wolf army in round one without losing any pieces. The Wolfs never hit anything as the dice rolls were really bad. He had 6 critical misses against me in the game.
Then I faced a Republic army of mostly Knights and the BF Malice that has the 16" range. Once I was able to hit 'Blackout' Malice and take him out of the shared defense the republic fell, But I did lose the BF Gyrfalcon and the BF Shrike was on salvage but was in my DZ when the game ended.
In the final game I finished in a draw with our best player who was using a Kurita army. I killed 3 of his mechs but he had 2 of mine salvaged, we ended tied on points. But he finished in first due to getting more VCs then anyone else in the tourney. But I did get fellowship and got the RISC card that was given out.
To answer your questions I love using Rose & Malvina every chance I can get. She is my favorite Mech/Pilot and she is from Firepower. I also love using Jiyi in larger tourneys due to her 18" range and she is from Falcons Prey. I also use from Falcons Prey the Long Tom Arty pieces (have 2) and also tank dropping the Kelswa. The 24 defense on it is still pretty hard to hit. I dont use much JF infantry anymore or many of the other JF pieces. Those mechs above are probably my favorite JF mechs to use.
I would probably put the Loki & Raptor in the next group. I really havn't looked to closely at the Vulture or MC IV so I dont know if I'll be using them much. I favor using the Assault mechs in every tourney if I can. I rarely use any of the Light mechs.
The one exception is the SalvageMech which I barely use anymore since I can put repair for 17 points on any medium mech. But in this tourney I didnt put mech repair on my medium mech so thats why she got used.
But if you see my box at tourneys you will find me carrying a complete set of JF in there along with some of my favorite gunslingers that I use on occasion to change up my armies, especially One Eye Jack and his new Atlas.
