I think it might be interesting to play a 300 point game. Especially if it were pre-AoD only. Kickin' it old school sounds like fun now and again. :)
Chris
I think a post 300 point AoD game could be fun as well. That might be a challenge for the local venue to do as opposed to the ever-growning point total.
To make it even more challenging, you could even say it must contain at least one of each type of pice (1 Mech, 1 vehicle, 1 infantry).
If you would like a challenge, try playing a game where you build your battle force on the tenets of the Clan Military Structure and not a point total. It can make for a stressful situation. Of course you will need a large playing area.

That is how I am conducting my campaigns, based on military unit structures and not point costs, although I do tend to mix up Stars/Lances a little so they are not too top heavy nor too light. It is interesting to take an entire Star to the field and not worry about points for the units or equipping them. Changes the feel of the game, makes it more like BT (IMO), but without the horror of the record keeping.

Me and Shadow_89 are doing a Cluster battle on an 8' x 6' full done up table in a week which we'll be taking pics of and posting here. There was no point total, just 3 Battlemech Trinaries, an Elemental Trinary and a Support/Solahma Trinary. I still added my army up though and it comes in just 34 points shy of 14 000.
Thanks for the help guys... ^_^ right now, i'm focusing on a Jade Falcon build thatz not MDFA. (Itz common out here in our place so i wanna try somethin different.)
I'm using the FF: (mechs) Often
Vulture MKIV
Vixen
Madcat MKIV
Loki
Basically, The first three have evade to move in fast. The last one, well i haven't really tried but will do... i read in the thread about the hyperlaser combo... the thing is ain't got one yet... haha
You have some of the best Falcon Mechs out there to build from. I really like the Vulture and Loki. You do not NEED a hyper laser, but it can be interesting. I have never gotten it to work in a tournament setting, although it seems to work a little better at home. Go figure. I like the H IT better as a nice all-round gear for my H Mechs. I have also had good luck on using anti-personnel on the Vulture :) I too favor avoiding the MDFA as it seems to pigeon-hole the Falcon players and they spend too much time trying to set it up instead of shooting (IMO).
Might want to get the R10 transport for tank-dropping since the Falcons have some really nice tanks, especially from Wolf Strike and most Falcon battle armor infantry is above average. Let us know how else we can assist you in your battles.
I have grand news fellow warriors. I have have completed the assault on the House Steiner controlled planet. It was a glorious end to a tough battle. It took only roughly 1 hour to complete that remaining battle.
I seeing that I had superior numbers after the first phases of the assault pressed the issue. Within minutes of restarting the battle I had scored kills on 3 defending mechs. My lead Loki re entered the fray, having returned after being repaired by the mechanics in the dropship. He then made a crucial mistake. Seeing that he didnt think he could stave off my forces for much longer he sent a lance of medium mech running towards my dropship. He wanted to try cripple the machine before I could overwhelm his forces. This left the defenders severely undermanned.
I created a wide space through the defenders with a Star of heavy mechs making way for 3 Slyph battle armors. The slyphs then moved to capture the objective, and desembarked towards my dropship, guarded closely by the attacking forces that made the retreat. (What the objective was supposed to be is the leader of the city). I defended the slyphs rear while they flew back to the dropship.
The 4 medium mech tried to assault the dropship it failed the hit. A large group of Elemental BA moved to swarm the attacking mechs (9 Elemental BA) along with some slamander BA (5 of them). The elementals harrased the mediums while the Dropship guns harried them and in short order destroyed them (or severely damaged them) One was captured and a Salamander Bypassed it and it began to attack the allies it once had. (I had hid most of the BA in the dropship bays and when he got close enough I stormed out after him, it was sure a sight to see 14 BA storm out after his mechs)
I got the slyph battle armors back to the dropship and got a communication from the enemy of their surrender.

MDFA is a Falcon specialty, but avoid thinking that it is the only thing that Clan Jade Falcon can do. It is an alluring temptation to deliver a massive and accurate Death From Above attack, but you will find that 10 clicks of Pulse Damage from a Loki much more intoxicating.
I also concur with regard to Falcon tanks. The Huitzilopochtli is a personal favorite for it's 11/21 AV/DV and 4 click Pulse attack. It has the offensive potential of a Battlemech for 97 points.
Clan Jade Falcon has too many excellent Infantry and Vehicles to even begin to list them all. Feel free to consult my post from earlier on to check out Highdancer's breakdowns.
I would also like to extend congratulations to Razatar on your victory.

I understand it is not the only thing, but sometimes players get so focused on doing something they forget to make sound decisions. As a BM, I see it all the time, where players try to set up certain conditions and they lose sight of the larger game. The same can be said for the Loki's pulse or any special equipment or ability if it becomes more of a distraction than an advantage.
That said, I will use the MDFA when I can, but I do not make it the focus of my forces, and in fact, try to downplay it as much as possible until it is time to strike. When the Falcons first arrived in Falcon's Prey, almost everyone I saw play CJF tried so hard to perform the MDFA since there were so many points tied into the units and that ability and that one ability sot of defined the Falcons, especially since WK graced so many of the early ones with lousy weapons ranges that they could actually jump or charge farther than shoot. The situation now is much better and the Falcons present many more types of threats and one can play them without using the MDFA at all. I have said before and will continue to say, the Falcons are perhaps the best when it comes to a combined arms force.
Thanks for the help and tips Phoenixhawk! Well, so far i decided not to really too much on the hardcore gears like the Hyperlaser, Decoy-H, IT, etc... for one reason, itz so darn hard to find them! And they are very expensive. Firstly, as a student, i ain't got a job so i've got limited cash reserves. The units i got were just sold to me cheap by a group of friends who helped train me for the last 2 months. (yes, itz been 2 months since i started) I used to play RotS since the person that sold me my first package gave that faction. However, the RotS are great but they don't meet my style and standards in fighting.
The funny thing, in our place, thatz where you'll see a Malice Peacemaker that keeps on running and playing aggressive. Itz a high risk way of being an aggressive player with an assault mech that has 8 speed and really nasty 3rd heat dial click... (i made sure that the malice can par with the Mjolnirs [WH]) at ease not the other way around... hahahaha...
I have posted pictures of some of my recent mods and repaints in the appropriate sections of this site. Feel free to check them out and feedback and comments are always welcome!
Also, the campaign against HK should be starting soon. I am itching to go after the snakes.
This army did pretty good considering it was 9 pts shy of 600.
Hellbringer
-Star Comm.
-IT
GHK
-Star Comm.
-PPC Cap
Hadur
Sylph
Pal
total - 591
The GHK was there for Bouncy support as was the Sylph for its part and VC 3. First battle I went up against my boss who was fielding a ROTS army, BF-Malice, H-Kelswa, Mjolner and an H-Paladin. I managed to MDFA the Mailce and thne finish it with the Hellbringer, In the end all 3 VC's were mine.
Second Battle was against a BR force, Thug, 2 Glory fire, 2 formations of random inf, and a Cizin. He brought Thug into deal with my arty but he got tied up by the Pal. In the end Thug fell under an MDFA, PPC shot and finally Pulse damage, I claimed all 3 VC's.
Third Battle was against SMSLuck13, Yami, Green Roku, 5 Shock troop and 3 ATV. My first mistake was letting him choose where to put he water terrain so he had the "home court" advantage. After dancing around I finally made a break to swing in wide to flank Yami, he countered by matching my move and heading straight for me. The turn after he move the Roku to setup for an assault order but must have forgot the speed of the Hellbringer cause I closed the distance with in 8" and did 10 dmg to it thus killing it. Managed to get the Sylph down to his DZ and got 3 points to tie with his and successfully fended off several capture attempts. In the end VC 1 and VC 2 were mine, His remaining force was only Yami and 2 inf where as I only had a salvaged sylph.
I liked how this army performed but I just wish I could have gotten to 600 exactly, I was pressed for time so I put together what I could.

Your right I did forget the speed of the Loki, it is way too fast for a heavy mech. Of course it didn't help me trying to play and watch Robot Chicken running behind me... But I should have paid more attention. And I needed what, 1pt higher for the capture of the Loki? Still even when I did get you into range I was just throwing slugs around your mechs feet.
The cluster battle looks like a neat idea. Tirrex, you and I should do that, Falcon cluster vs Kurita (is that a regiment or a company?)
