I found out today that under no circumstances should you let the Australian girl say "can't" aloud in class. She said #### as plain as day. A few kids chuckled, and I told her perhaps she could try to say "can't" with a bit less accent. It didn't work, and she used the word a couple more times. The whole class was laughing and I was red-faced. And just about the time I regained the Classroom control, she says "facts" in her accent. And there goes the class again...

It was a long several minutes.

You should have just told her to say "cannot" instead and avoid the contraction.

Yep, I did just that. Given her humor and tomboyish nature, I think she was messing with me pretty hard. Her host mom and I are friends and she had some similarly funny stories last night at the HS basketball games.

Just looked this band up now. They are worth a listen to and have a Thin Lizzy vibe going for them. Pretty nerdy but you can probably tell by the name of the band and the name of the album is very fitting for this website...

thanks to the LPC, Brainiac WTF in particular, I learned a new term! "Kerning" for typesetting or font appearance. Several times I have been annoyed at words that maybe have "rn" together that look like "m" or something like that. Now, thanks to the LPC, I know that it is a real problem that has a name and everything. I will use "bad kerning" at least once per week until someone finally asks what the #### I am talking about.
