At it's best my venue drew an average of at least 16 players weekly. I think their best turnout was upwards of 30-40. But that was for a very special tournament.

I'm just asking because I'm wondering if there is a way to tap into the Magic turnouts that our venue generates. Last weekend they did a pre-release and it got nearly 100 people. Their DSM store got over 100. Now I know comparing Magic and Heroclix is like comparing Apples and Pineapples, but the guy that got the business degree in me is still curious. At least around here, there is a certain type of person that seems to play Magic, and it is not the person I'd want being regulars at our tournaments. It is the "I'll spend whatever I must to get the most powerful figures so that I may crush all before me" type of person. I'm just not sure if I'm playing with fire if I attempt to tap into that crowd because we really pride ourselves on having a laid back tournament atmosphere where someone would rather lose having fun than win by playing cut-throat.

Thanks! You're always so helpful! Hey, are you still stopping by to pick up Bruce Banner?

Having worked backstage for David Copperfield (before he got married to Claudia Schiffer), I can tell you that the "turnout" at his dressing room was truly incredible. Seriously. I've worked with acts like the Stones, the Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, and in something like 20 years in the business, I have never seen a groupie train that rivaled the quality of the one that Copperfield had.
Kay, if opening all of the boosters is the store is vandalism, buying a case and returning everything but the pack with the Loki in it is theft, right? Or at least some kind of fraud. Damn shady, at any rate.
I think technically it would be classified as fraud. If you encounter anyone that did that, you can give them a junk shot and tell them that I told you to do it.

Geez, I totally forgot about FCBD. My weekend is filling up quickly, with that, Heroclix, Arkham Horror, Avengers movie, and spending time with the girlfriend. Fortunately for me, my girlfriend is also a geek, so I'm pretty sure I can combine spending time with her with several of the above.

We had about that many at one of the store in my area for the Dark Ascension prerelease I went to. I don't think I'll be going to any more, though. I've concluded that I don't really like tournament Magic that much. I might still get in a few house games with friends, though.

The vast majority of Magic turned Clix players that I have played with fit this category to a T. For the most part, you would do well to avoid inviting that into your group. A few might fit fine, but be choosy.

It's good to know that it's not a unique instance in this area. I shall heed your advice.
You would seem to be in the minority that I refer to as "good guy MTG players." I have met one or two of you in my travels. Congratulations, for you are a rare lot.
Just got back from Avengers. I liked it and the people I went with liked it. Won't say anything else so as not to spoil it.
Thank you very much. Some turds on facebook just can't help themselves but to ruin it for those that couldn't go to a midnite showing, so I have to take a facebook hiatus until Saturday night.
