"Si," Bane agreed, "but with the Cyborg down, none of us have that kind of power. Batman I can beat, but Superman? Let's just say I have no illusions about my limitations."

"I may be able to do something about that," Professor Ivo said rummaging through the pockets of his lab coat. "Ah, here it is," he said, fishing out a small green rock in his misshapen hands.

"Is that..." Bane asked in disbelief.

"Kryptonite, yes," Ivo said. "I paid dearly for it, but I consider that, in our line of work, it is important to be prepared for every contingency."

"This evens the scales then," Bane said, taking it eagerly. "Now I believe I am ready." Goblin Queen used her telekinesis to put Bane into position. "Senor, I am called Bane."

"I know who you are," Superman said.

"I thought it only fitting that you know the name of the man who kills you," Bane shrugged and opened his hand. Superman gapsed in sudden distress as the rays from the Kryptonite chunk bathed over him. "And now Superman, say good night..."
