So, what's the rundown on this Mafia thing? Thawmus tried to explain it to me once in the middle of a L4D2 game and I didn't really get it...
There's a Town.
There's a Mafia.
Sometimes there are neutrals.
There's a game thread where all the players participate, and when the thread is open for posting, it's called "Day phase." When the thread is closed, it's called "Night phase."
The mafia is trying to kill the town. The town is trying to kill the mafia. The neutrals have their own win condition and typically favor neither town or mafia.
Take a number of players (say, 15 players). The moderator of the game then creates a role for each of those players. Some players are members of the mafia while the rest compose the town and neutrals.
The mafia, which is typically 25-30% of the players, all know who each other is and can speak to each other outside of the game thread.
The town and neutrals do not typically know who each other is, nor what their roles are. They can only speak to each other in the main game thread when it is open (Day phase). Also during the day phase, players may vote to lynch a player. If one player gets a majority of lynch votes (typically half the number of remaining players, rounded up), that player is eliminated from the game.
When the game thread closes (Night phase), all players send in an action to the moderator. The action is based on the player's role. During this time, the mafia talks amongst themselves and decides what to do. Each mafia member usually has an action they can take, but one of them must be assigned the "hit" for the night, effectively removing a player from the game.
It is the town's job to find and remove all of the mafia members (and any other threats that may exist). It is the mafia's job to remove all of the town (and any other threats that may exist).

Would you like some more information?
Yes, please. Sounds interesting.
I didn't go to Harvard or Yale but I can kick a man in the crotch as well as any other.
Other than Wade, who has to wait...those of us who may or may not have received an LPC SS package - when do we open them? What day was decided upon?
No specified date yet. Was thinking around the 19th to make sure everyone had received their packages. If everyone receives before then, I may consider moving it up.
