My only suggestion would have been dropping Trevor to get Leland in there, but that's purely because the big battle in Central Park against Nimrod is one of my favorite X-stories ever.
He almost made the cut, but the points just worked out so perfect at 600 and I don't want to bother with feats.
That anyone is "suffering" from it seems like a stretch. I'd just say that players who go the other way should be praised for their creativity.
Definitely agree with the latter. As for the former, I have seen at least a few instances come up of people mentioning wanting to play a piece but hitting more resistance than it was worth. If you're the sort of fan who's only in this game because of the characters, then that's a case of one's enjoyment suffering because other people are tired of this or that combination.

I don't actually own one, I've just borrowed them from other people. They're near the top of my wants list because I'd like to use them some more and in tournaments to see what happens, but obviously I don't quite want them enough to pick them up.
Good to know.
My approach in looking at figures is first to see how well they operate as the given character. That's why seeing Daredevils or other characters who in the comics routinely change elevations while on the move given dials that don't predominantly have Leap/Climb or some other mechanic to allow them to ignore such terrain changes, I'm disappointed. How well it stands up in a game is a secondary concern for me.
This is the central reason why I dislike and generally won't play the majority of Duo pieces in this game. I don't care how wonderfully packed they are to be effective in the game (Thorki or Iron Man/War Machine), they don't operate as I believe they should, and they present the same target, as if bound together.
Any Hellfire club team featuring some cadre with Hellfire Guards is going to tickle me. It's that simple.
I have 300 pts of Hellfire Guards in both editions sometimes I just play them with NO cadre!
Hellfire Guards with Hellfire people in pseudo Ren-Faire outfits are full of win.
I wouldn't have made a point of it had you simply made the statement you did quoting his team rather than quoting commanercool's "That looks super fun. I admire your restraint in not shoehorning Magnet-o on there."
If it was just a matter of convenience and all you were doing was approving of the team as themey, then I wholly understand. As it was it at least appeared that you were agreeing with the whole of commandercool's statement... hence the emphasis on Magneto.

Yeah, I my case, I have zero desire to play Magneto on a Hellfire Club team (same with Storm, Iron Man, Capt. Britain, or Norman Osborn). I know he and Storm were actually Inner Circle at one point, but I'd much rather play Big Daddy Black King. I love the figure. heh heh
I don't like Magneto. lol He's not allowed to play with my Hellfire Club.
Heh. Well, that works, too, I suppose.
I've yet to use my Magneto -- I have him set up leading a 600 pt Brotherhood team -- one of many teams I've put together but haven't found time and opportunity to play.

Well I'm not saying that people never get pressured out of playing hated figures, I'm just saying that doesn't inform my opinion on Magneto. If you want to put Bencrawler on your team, let it be known that I don't want you to do that, but Magneto is a different story. I don't mind playing against Magneto at all, I just think it's classier to do a Hellfire team without him.

In that case, Wolverine/Colossus has the same problems as most duos, but much of that is offset by the great sculpt and one of the coolest and most evocative special powers in the game. Not perfect, but fun and not bad by any means.

Right. When I think of the Hellfire Club I always go back to the early appearances, so Shaw, Leland, Pierce and Frost are the ones who fit the theme best for me. As was the case with so much in the land of X-Men comics as the '80s wore on and passed into the '90s, they kept going back not only to the same well but essentially kept reusing the same water, just mixing it from one tub to another. Where one sees it as having crossed the line largely depends upon where one came in.
The Hellfire Club and the themes in Days of Future Past were top notch in those original forms, but soon became so diluted and adulterated... I didn't care much for the inclusion of Bishop, and had lost all interest by the time Cable came along. Yet, ask a much, much younger fan - someone who came in during those additions or well after, once they were established as part of the backstory - and those characters may be seen as both essential and central.

Just my silly take on things. heh
I'd play him on Bortherhood, no problem. Except...I don't really dig playing Brotherhood. lol
I definitely see where you are coming from with players not playing something because of the groans they might get. I tend to factor a lot of things into my teams whether they be logical or not.
Characters I like.
Clix dials I like playing.
My current mood.
Themey-ness.
The "climate" (basically, am I expecting heavy opposition or other fun teams).
I almost dread the new Nova piece potentially being awesome because I play the heck out of my Nova pieces NOW and I'd want to play an incredible representation of him. But, my other factors help keep me in "check" so I'll try not to play him every chance I get. lol
So here's my declaration to future opponents: Nova is one of my favorite characters ever (2nd only to Captain America) and I will play him whether his new representation(s) are awesome or not! I have earned the right as I've played every other version of him that we have R, E, V, and LE.
I've been trying to give some attention to a buying strategy for Heroclix as I look into 2012.
The product roll-out is looking fierce, as various items come into play.
While I have no idea when they'll hit, it appears that we still have GSX and Cap FF Packs coming, presumably within the first few months of 2012. An Avengers (movie-linked) sub-theme set -- a sort of Fast Forces Pack and apparently some Battle Packs (pre-made teams) are tentatively set for March -- the same month Galactic Guardians (a full set, micro-set and FF Pack, as we're seeing with Hulk) is to hit.
Then we'll get the Mighty Avengers set, etc. by mid-year, and there'll be the odd mix of Batman/Gotham City, JLA and New 52 DC clix mini-/sub-sets coming along in there, too.
Plainly, it's too much to embrace it all as I've been doing so far. (I'm one of the guys who'll be receiving two cases of Hulk, on counter-top display unit, and a FF Pack of Hulk late next week.)
So, the plan from here is to continue to do as I've been doing with the Marvel sets, but pretty much only buy FF Pack-type items when it comes to DC, and see if I can trade some of my ample excess Marvel goodies for someone else's DC excess.
I'm seeing less and less must-have items on the DC side (this is an exclusively character-/universe-driven view), so there's much less I expect I'll decide I'll have to own, and I won't mind taking my time getting hold of the portion I will want in the least expensive means possible.
Hopefully this will dovetail with some people here whose bread is buttered on the DC side. I figure my prime times for trading will be just after one of the Marvel sets hit, when I can use my shiny new excess to get some of someone else's slightly less shiny DC excess from the previous set. Hopefully this will be a win:win scenario. We'll see.

I get a little of everything between purchases and trades so feel free to hit me up for anything you might be looking for! Hopefully I'll get my stuff unpacked and finish sorting before all the new stuff for 2012 rolls out. lol
Is there a way to fix the tensioner? I assume there is but it's hard.
From memory it depends on the unit itself, I think you have to take it out of the dash, and there is an adjustment screw (turn to left/right) although some units have "self tensioners" these too are adjustable but more fun.
"When they come to take control every Ogre must play his role"

Fair enough!
I'm curious how they'll be handling this Super Nova Marquee piece. It does appear they're going for the distinct character (as opposed to something intentionally generic), though I wonder if they'll make it a high point piece or even go the extra step of making it a unique, or if they'll leave it more open so that people might choose to keep them as somewhat powerful Nova Corps generics?

Hard to tell from just a poster, but I could see them making him a giant (since Garthan Saal got big, powerful, AND crazy).
Definitely hoping for SOMETHING to use as Nova Corps generics though. In the meantime I've been using my army of R Novas. lol
