I don't think they are. I think this one has a cost so high because of his long life due to his trait and the potential of getting bees out to keep people tied-up poisoned.

He starts with two evaders and even if you hit, if it's not doubles, you only take one. Then he can attack and drop a bee next to you. If you don't have reducers, now you have to worry about two things, plus what else is no his team.

Like most people have said, he's done well because even with the high cost and durability, he has normal to mediocre stats. So he will be taken care of quickly, if you have poison or pulsewave or he will harass your team one bee at a time.

Swarm was the leader of the Sinister Six for a hot minute in the Spider-Man and the X-Men book. I'm guessing that's why he has the Syndicate keyword, even though it was a really pathetic S6 lineup.

Hopefully that means we might get No-Girl or Glob Herman.

we are, unfortunately, missing quite a few members of that lineup. though I could see 8ball at least showing up in a Deadpool set

I mean, he appeared in one issue of Squirrel Girl, so I wouldn't call him a "Squirrel Girl villain", but it was a reeeeeeeeally good issue. But hey, if that ONE appearance in a book that's popular right now is what finally got him Clixed, then great!

haha part of me feels like this is a continued part of the "WizKids doesn't read/care about the spider-man franchise but knows it sells" conspiracy.


the spider-man set gives us 80point doc ock and 70 point electro while the next frickin set (tangentially a bat-god set) gives us a 140pt Ra's al Ghul/120pt Talon/bat villains clearly unaffected by the point cost drop. Yea, we also got a few niche specialist dials in the x-set, but aside from the JSA we definitely didn't get lower dials than we would have gotten previously.
