For a Cap set, I was hoping for a deep dive into his history. Instead, it’s just a bunch of random Marvel stuff. The Thunderbolts are mis-named, and they’re re-using 3-year old sculpts. This set has some neat things, but overall, this is crap. I would need to see some amazing reveals tomorrow to be swayed.
100% agreed. Not enough Captain America, way too many already-got-'ems.
At present, I’m looking forward to the set to play cost effective lineups of certain groups, but my concern is that we’re getting teased with potential groups that might not get completed. We’ve got Blackheath and Skein, but worried they might not make Cyclone and Cardinal. We’ve got another Trick Shot, but if there’s no June Covington, that later Dark Avengers still won’t be completed. Isaiah Bradley, but will we get Josiah X?
Hulk wont get watch listed unless you can pair him with something that makes him unresonable.
As it is he lives for a very long time, but you can peel points off him prior to his complete KO. A REAL step in the right direction.
But it's going to be hard for any 100 point character to make it to the watch list with all the trash you can get from 5-50 points.
Him by himself seems powerful, intimidating, annoying, but not broken. I can't think of anything off hand that you can pair with him to make him totally unreasonable. Maybe someone else has. I think the Soul Gem would be very frustrating for him to have, but not broken.
With only one unboxing left, I feel like theres still a lot of known quantities in the set we don't have dials for like USAgent or Ghost. That said, I'm not sure there's a lot of room left for unknown characters, at this point I feel like we have had most of the surprises.
How are the Tbolts missed named? Aren't these the costumes and names from the Zub run? Are they just not the names you prefer?
As far as today reveals go, I'm super excited to finally get another MODOK, but sad that he doesn't have Avengers or SHIELD kw. We're so close to running a proper Kot's Secret Avengers. We even have a good stand in for the Fury with the SHIELD kw from the Battleworld set.
No AIM kw on Hawkeye is weird too, he was right there with Songbird. Maybe we'll get a Da Costa who can combine AIM and Avengers themes. Also weird that they didn't give him both the Avengers And Bolts traits in at least one of the versions. He and Bucky should be able to work with both.
I like Barney. We need a Cap with that kind of power so he can throw his shield to intercept a blast. I wish you could play Clint, Barney, and Kate on a theme team.
After sitting with the unboxing for a moment there’s a lot of fun builds that can actually be pretty effective. I feel like the last few sets have been doing a good job or making themes more competitive and bridging the gap slightly between just for fun play and tournament play.
I understand that high level worlds style competition are always going to be more cutthroat streamlined meta, so I’m not speaking to that specifically, but normal local tournament level stuff feels like more and more the themes are becoming stronger.
As always, thank you Scott for another fun, enthusiastic unboxing. Also cool knowing that you voiced Harry Osborn in the Insomniac Spider-Man game, which I only recently finally bought and played. This set is setting up to be more for me than I anticipated. Also, I will defend Singularity, she'll be solid for you in sealed, and not that bad in average constructed play. Liking Zeke Stane.

Adding to that, I would still like to see a new Skaar, son of Hulk with either the keywords, since he was briefly on the team as a mole.
Unrelated to that, I had a thought this morning regarding the whole power-leap situation.
Wizkids wanted to make it easier to build full rosters at lower point totals, as evidenced by the JSA we got in Joker's Wild. Nearly everyone hated that because the dials were so bland and unrepresentative. I think this massive under-costing of dials is in response to that: we get to fill out rosters more easily in lower builds (see also: 45pt Carol Danvers) and still get pieces that represent the character.
Does it seem like an over-correction? Yeah, definitely, at least in the short term at least.
With Trickshot's inclusion, no Toxie Doxie would be a strange omission, since US Agent and Trickshot have both been remade here, Ai Apec being made last year, and Ragnarok prize figure still being out there, yet no Toxie.
Pretty cool that we get a Iron Man villian with a X-Men baddie keyword, feels like a hot minute since a X-keyword showed up in a non-X/Deadpool set.
I have been reading Jason Aaron's Avengers comic, which is the one that introduced the Agents of Wakanda. The first mission that showed they were a thing had them rescuing Blade. Then Blade became a proper Avenger.
I missed where he was ever an Agent of Wakanda. So, is the requirement going to just be simple interaction with the Agents of Wakanda? Should we just give every Avenger the Wakanda keyword?
Hey, I'd be more ok with it if they'd also give American Eagle and Fat Cobra the Wakanda keyword! If you know what I mean.
But yeah, Blade ain't on that team.
The official "Make Capt. Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew" rep. All other Zoo Crew fans, get in line behind me. There’s plenty of room for all of us.

I've noticed the same thing at my new venue. Theme teams rule the roost. On a side note, I've been wondering how you feel about the Visible Dials rule? We have completely ignored it at my LGS and things are going swimmingly. What has your experience been?
Also, M.O.D.O.K.!!!!!!! Been waiting forever for him!
