I'm in the central business district of the third largest city in the United States, and right now I'm showing full bars with an "Emergency Calls Only" message. Are there so many tall buildings here that they can't decide which one to slap a tower on?

I know where the towers are located at around me because I always get dropped calls for about 2 seconds. The tower hand-offs are terrible in the plains. We have NO INTERRUPTIONS from terrain. How can you be so shoddy?!

I would hypothesize that Chicago (just like other big cities) has a big problem with frequency interference. Which is a big "Well duh...", I know, but the problem is that you can't use many of the frequencies you can get away with in rural areas. The higher the frequency, the finickier it is about your LoS, and Chicago sucks for that. So you're stuck with the lower bands instead, which means your competitors are too, and...

I hate wireless tech for the most part, and this is just one of many reasons why. If it's being used for what it's good for (phones, Last Mile customers, etc), fine. But when people set up a wireless office because they don't like cords, I want to throw all of them off their rooftop.
