This is what I was suggesting. I should have clarified that I meant people had to wait until ALL players were finished with the first round (which could be an hour or less depending on the speed of all players involved) before re-entering a grinder.

That's basically what I meant. I'm not so eloquent when putting thought to thread. Basically, you have the full first round to sit and wait or play it out. When that round is up THEN you can sign up.

Uniquist, I just wanted to put it out there that I wasnt pissed at your personally. I was pissed at the system that allowed it. I think there needs to be better regulation of it to allow the most number of players entry in. I talked to more then a few that were upset they couldnt get in a Grinder after the first hour or so.

Mike - I understood what you were saying. I just go for however the system is. I don't begrudge WK or Norm to run the event however they wish. But I will certainly try to maximize my chances within the context of the rules. I don't think anyone really is hassling me personally for that. Pretty much everyone does that.

If you're worried about everyone getting in, say, at least 1 grinder a day, I can't see that being a problem. If you're wishing everyone can have 3 chances a day no matter what, that would be difficult, and probably not worth the effort involved by the staff.

If WK wanted to make me (and everyone) play a first-round game, fine by me. But of course, players would probably play really really quick and lose really really fast, so it's basically the same effect, which is why I think they didn't bother.

Maybe if grinder signups are only every 2 hours or something. But then there's scheduling issues with people wanting to get in a battle royale (and then bailing on that when it's their grinder time) or just simply wandering off.

I think they thought of a lot of these things already, and the easiest thing to do is mostly what they did at Origins. The volunteers are already working pretty hard, so to make them try to control the situation more is tough. That being said, there are certainly systems that they could do. Just each one has it's pros and cons as well.

The best solution is a super lot of grinders, so I'm crossing my fingers for that!

To Bubblehead: I did what you said in my first grinder on the 2nd day - I played my first match even though it was my Aquaman and scrubs vs Osiris/Isis/Det. Chimp. I knew I had some time to get into another grinder (there were 2 empty ones still to go), so I gave it a shot. I tried to win, and still lost quickly. Even if I won that (say, miracle dice rolls), I'd still have to go through another Osiris and another strong team to win.

Remember we play a game where you go with the highest percentage chance to win by playing on the statistics of the dice. To ask that I do anything else vis-a-vis my pulls and maximizing my chances for victory just doesn't make sense to me!

I'll be posting an article on GenCon soon on the WizKids website about the grinders but for now, I just want to point out that the last grinders will start at 9 PM since they will last approximately 3 hours and we close at midnight.

Also, Battle Royales will stop at 11 PM since they last about an hour and King of the Hill will stop at 11 PM as well since that lasts about an hour as well.

At Origins, players were seated that lost if they wanted to continue to play. A lot of players choose to not play after their first lost because they couldn't win at that point.

Right. You could continue, but most chose not to.

Some people planned to play based upon the fact that you could schedule evening grinders. And thus scheduled other events in the daytime. If its FCFS, there wont be product available for the evening crowd. Its not fair to them to leave them out in the cold now.

Please fix the issue you had at Origins.
