Watched it with the family, and it was very good. Helps that I'm a huge MMA fan of course, and knew who the real MMA fighters/trainers were, but it was also just a great family movie.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........
Also, the villains are SO forgettable after the third movie.
1: Alan Rickman
2: William Sadler
3: Jeremy Irons
4: Timothy Olyphant... seriously? THIS is a marquee villain???
5: Um... who? Huh? Was there a villain worth mentioning? (Guess it makes Tim look better...)
Right now, watching Godfather the First again, figured I'd go through the trilogy today.
Hey, don't knock Olyphant he's AMAZING in Justified and they had to dumb down his charactor a little in Live Free or Die Hard so he's stupid enough for John McClain to stop the charactor's plot.
Watched a buttload of movies from last year over the last week.
Ted
American Reunion
21 Jump Street
Of those comedies, Ted was hands down the funniest. I laughed hard at that movie. The other two were total letdowns, had like two funny bits between them. I probably should have seen that coming with 21 Jump Street, but I had higher hopes for American Reunion. Probably because the second and third movies trimmed the cast down, got rid of the dead weight and focused on the people that were capable of being funny. Wasn't the case this time around.
The Man With The Iron Fists
Dredd
Skyfall
Argo
Loved Skyfall and enjoyed Dredd a helluva lot more than I thought I would. And I liked Argo, but since I knew how it ended there was zero tension. Man With The Iron Fists was just a waste of time.
Watched The Campaign last night. I believe I will only retain one thing that happened, which is the first debate's trash talk sequence where Zach is genuinely funny saying things that were genuinely creative. So on the whole, probably not worth the time it took to watch it.

I agree. the new Die Hard left me wondering where their story line went. The villain/s? were horrible, and the supposed twist at the end made little sense storywise. It seemed tyo be just one giant car chase/explosion throughout the entire movie with a few lines to try and keep somewhat of a story there. DH4 at least HAD a story
Granted, a very bad one.
THIS IS BRAIN POISON!
Ahem. Anyway, the Godfather trilogy plans were ruined because I left Part 2 in my Bluray player at home. Darnit! But, right now I'm watching Outbreak.
Also, I realize this isn't a movie, per see, but Zahn wrote a new Star Wars book that came out a few months ago, "Scoundrels". It's set after Episode IV, and involves Han Solo planning a heist to get out from under Jabba the Hutt. It has a very Ocean's 11 feel to it, and it's just a lot of fun so far.

Last movie I saw was JCVD, where Jean Claude van Damme plays himself, caught up in a bank heist. It was pretty good, especially van Damme. Maybe it's because most of the movie wasn't in English, so he was more comfortable delivering his lines, or because he got to draw on his real life experiences, but he gave a good performance. I'd be curious to see him in a supporting role in a proper film.
Watched Jack the Giant Slayer in theaters on Saturday. I went in with no expectations, and was rewarded with what I thought was a simple, yet solid story. Acting was good, FX were good. And who doesn't love them some Obi-wan, i mean Ewan Mcgregor fighting giants
Saw this movie and was bored to tears. Ewan M. was good, but talk about your generic snoozefests.
Not a movie, but I did see Mike Tyson's one man show last night. It was weird and at times unintelligible. I figure it might get put out on video at some point... but I would not suggest that your time would be well spent with it.
It was kinda cool that Sugar Ray and Evander were both in the audience and showed support.
I definitely felt like he didn't spend enough time getting comfortable with his material to handle laugh breaks or applause breaks well. It meant of stuff I could have maybe understood, I didn't even hear all of it.
So that happened...

I've been considering watching Mulholland Drive lately and some searches revealed Surveillance by David Lynch's daughter. I don't want to give away anything, but it was a satisfying movie. Nice slow burn. Bill Pullman and Julia Ormand along with a few others were all solid. Good little yarn.

I recommend Mulholland Drive if you haven't seen it. It is perhaps the least "Lynchian" of his films that I have seen. It has its moments, but I found this to be the most rewarding of his projects...aside from his "Quinoa" short from Inland Empire.
