Funny stuff man. LMAO@ Bitter oranges, sour oranges, and unable to block oranges. I have no idea why you guys get so much hate. Sure, as a group, you're sometimes a little overly defensive, but considering you do a ton of work to improve the game for free, it's not a big deal, IMO.
I used to think they should have a paid position at WK/NECA. It's criminal they don't have a paid, in-house rules staff. I still think they should, but after this thread I just might not agree that it should be all of the same people who are oranges now.

I find it hard to believe that almost every character with the "When you reveal your force..." trait's were meant to played and errata'd differently.
That is my big concern with this. I didn't have a problem when Gandalf and Nightwing were amongst the ranks of the skrulls, or when they fought beside Captain America because THEY WERE FUN TO USE THAT WAY. It's fun to see people use figures they like. Hell I once ran both of them with Black Lantern Batman... Did I win, certainly not, but it was a fun team to run. It's not like my opponents looked at my team and were in shock... they aren't powerhouse figures and I don't see how a leadership roll changes anything. Hell, 35pt Lucius can remove a token from any character possessing the batman ally team ability and can use perplex (but that's because he is Morgan Freeman.. duh).

Fun isn't part of the rules, and that's the fundamental disconnect of this thread.

If the position was changed to an in-house position I'd probably step down at least. I have no desire to move to New Jersey.
Of course, you get a whole different set of problems with paid employees than you do with volunteers.
We agree on this. I want to know if he does too. I want to live in a world where the guys handling the ruling not only are allowed to have opinions on the rules they report, but are able to make decisions and question GD based on them.
To blankly and repeatedly report back what is a very silly rule erodes the respect a position of quasi-authority demands. Hence: inches on the clown shoes.
I would like to point out that in one of the posts where Vlad explained that colossal a in vehicles was working as intended he actually said they he argued against that being the case but the final decision went the other way.

If there's one thing I've taken away from the 50+ pages this thread has to offer it's that the statement "fun isn't part of the rules" is the greatest truth the heroclix community has been experiencing for quite some time.
It's made us bitter, argumentative, overly competitive, and possibly unshaven. I see people all the time playing other miniature games laughing and experiencing friendly competition. Then I look at the heroclix tables and see scowls and hear arguments about the rules. I hear comments directed towards the winner of a local clix tournament like "it wasn't him, it was (name of dial here) that won him the game." Then I look back at the other miniature gaming tables and hear "wow, that strategy you used really got me, nice work."
The worst part is that this argumentative and overly competitive behavior has boiled over into the website most looked to for knowledge of the game and NO ONE is unaffected by it, even those we at one point looked to for accurate and sensible rulings. It's divided us on multiple fronts to the point where calling us a community is laughable at best. The emphasis needs to be taken away from heavy competition and put on having fun again.
This game needs a total revamp from the ground up.

Find a better venue. Seriously.
Find willing to curb some if the more abusive junk and most importantly, find one with friendly people who enjoy seeing fun, creative teams.
The game has issues, but it sounds as of you're playing somewhere lousy and full of Nightwings who get upset by others succeeding.

I don't have a venue, I play at home with an amazing group of friends I've known for a long time. I'm seriously fortunate for this.
However, I travel, A LOT and frequently. I make it a point to stop in at comic book and gaming stores everywhere I go, even overseas (if these things exist in the location). My observations come from conversations with various individuals, groups, my own two eyes, and the overall "feel" to this website.
And telling someone to "find another venue" is the equivalent of telling someone who lives in a terrible neighborhood and feels the need to carry a gun because of it to "just move from there."
It's not always possible, and I feel bad both for those who live in bad neighborhoods and for those whose only option is a terrible venue.

Honestly the venues around where I live are generally fine, limited to one or two bad apples. But, you can tell that people who frequent this place have some serious issues, either themselves or the people they play with.
I will say though, every time I see a movie where there's a dragon threatening a village, I spend the entire movie screaming "MOVE AWAY!"

I'd say that the aforementioned colossals, vehicles, and resources ARE working exactly as intended. They're all marketing ploys, designed to be eye catchers and to draw people towards the game. Even if your venue is crowded and you play in one of those comic shops that looks like a flea market threw up in it you could still spot a colossal Galactus being played from twenty feet away. The fact that they are powerful causes these pieces to be played more often. This also causes people to walk up and ask "hey, what's that?" So do vehicles and resources.
However, as you mentioned before there's the notion that they all have flawed mechanics. This has caused them all to be banned from some venues, therefore they're not doing their job as marketing has intended. And what's that on the horizon for Wizkids? A new mechanic with eye catching abilities as well, you say?
Team bases are already being accused of being broken and they haven't even came out yet. Pairing them with Nightwing or Gandalf (in a golden age game) would cause them to be, as I stated, even more of a "problem" and could result in them being banned even faster. Therefore, not doing their initial job as it was intended: drawing people to the game in a public setting.
Your mistake is believing that Wizkids makes changes from a gaming perspective. I have a very hard time believing this. As it was said before, they already have your money for Nightwing and Gandalf. Now they want it for Robin and his underwear pals on their nifty little diorama. They'd have a hard time getting said money if everyone was sick of seeing themed teams already from the time before Nightwing and Gandalf were changed. In my experience (and I'm just including this, not judging everyone else's experience by it) they both were being included on nearly every team I played against, so I get it.
Do I like it: balls no.
I have to agree with the bolded assessment.

Simply put, I don't think elections would produce very good results. Feel free to convince me otherwise though.
I don't think an elected role would be a good role. I think that selection from among the people who understand the rules is the way to go. That the current crop will say "sorry, this is the way it is, and even I don't like it" is vastly preferred to "well I don't like it so it'll be this."
Strictly IMO.

Similarly, I think that you should not be able to MC your opponent's figure and make him your pilot.
I think this would be a good addition.

I knew there was another one! I'd remembered noting it and pointing it out, but like most things, my memory denied me this time...

Hah! I do that to. My wife hates going to the movies with me!

And all of these venues you're visiting have people kevtching about the winner? I suppose that's possible, but that's some terrible luck on your part.

It's only the equivalent of telling someone to move if there are no other venues around and it's impossible to start a new one.

Ah! Fantastic! I knew once I put my post up it wouldn't be more than a day before I got a response that's an example of the argumentative attitude that's common within this game.
I could say that at no point did I say all the venues are like that, but a poor attitude is common at most that I have visited. However, my "terrible luck" surely must be the cause of that and not the fact that it exists.
I could also say that I acknowledged other factors regarding finding a venue by stating that it's simply not always possible. Meaning in some circumstances simply going to another venue is an option, but not always.
I could go on and on about how I'm clearly right and you need to make more valid points and we could peacock strut for days on end about it, but I won't, so disregard the above and know that this kind of attitude is rampant in the players of this game and most definitely on this website so rather than continue to make chide remarks with my nose in the air about something that clearly has nothing to do with the title of this thread I'll simply say:
Sometimes in my travels Joe I hope I stop in at your venue and enjoy a good game of Clix since from your statements I can assume that you're fortunate in having a good place to play.
Oh, but I won't have my own pieces with me and I'll need to borrow yours. Are you using Nightwing from DC's 10th Anniversary set this go around? I hear there used to be something special about him. Don't know why they changed that. Not rightfully sure anyone does.

Yes, it's the game, and not me.

Did you explicitly say all venues? No, nor do you say "some" or anything else limiting the scope of your comments. You're clearly inditing the entire community.

Hobby Bunker in Malden MA. I hope to see there someday, but be sure to let me know beforehand. I'm not one of those folks who usually brings multiple teams.
