Well wave 2 is still largely unknown, so who knows we might get one or two of those guys

I'm not too excited about most of the LE prizes, except Kang the Conqueror. I don't know who Grandmaster, Graviton, or High Evolutionary are, and many people I know don't either. I think they should have replaced at least one of the three with Radioactive Man and perhaps another of the three with the Con LE Loki (and make one of the three a Con exclusive instead).

I guess I'll have to respectfully differ with you. These are all great villains, and I'm glad we're getting them. I do think we need a new Radioactive Man, though.

dude, those are all classic marvel/avenger villains, especially high evolutionary. he's even showing up currently as the big bad in Uncanny Avengers. He's the one responsible for messing with Wanda and Pietros mutations, along with Adam Warlock and tons of other stuff.

Grandmaster is an awesome cosmic baddie, along with all the elders.

Who would you have rather had? (ie who do you know as an avengers villain?)

I'm stoked for these guys. Aside from Grandmaster who is a little to close to the IG one for my liking. I might get him later but I'm not going to go out of my way to get one.

High Evolutionary, Graviton and Kang will all be must haves for me no matter what the dials are like.

There are also general villain teams like Hydra, AIM, Masters of Evil, and Wrecking Crew (characters from some of these teams have been named above).

Not saying that I want any of these to be the LE prizes, but just saying which Avengers villains casual players like my friends and me know. None of us know who Grandmaster, High Evolutionary, or Graviton are. Of course, we understand that some devoted fans of the series might have been waiting for some time for these characters to be Clixed, so I'm not saying I don't think they should be in the AoU OP set, just that casual fans have no idea who they are.

Grandmaster makes sense as he fits the Squadron Sinister theme that has been running through recent Clix sets. He's the guy that created the villainous Squadron and set them against the Avengers.

High Evolutionary and Graviton also make sense for inclusion as they are long time classic villains that haven't had new Clix versions in years.

Kang gets in because he's Kang.

Of the figures named above, only Atlas, Radioactive Man and Molecule Man are more in need of a remake than High Evolutionary and Graviton. But in the history of the Avengers, they don't come close to the number of stories focused on them as the two that did get made.

I want all of the LE characters, especially High Evolutionary.
I am well familiar with all of them, and each of them has a representative figure in my keeper box, which is reserved just for my favorite characters (and most of their dials aren't anything to write home about these days).

No matter who they make someone will be able to say "I don't know this character", but in an environment like this, the more obscure characters are probably better placed.

After all, people are going to be attracted by the exclusive tourney boosters. People won't be deciding whether to show up or not based so much on the prize than on the fact that this is their chance to get these characters in the boosters along with the resource and ID cards.

If they used super-popular characters as prizes here, then where do they put these more obscure characters? As SRs to try and sell a set? As a prize to try and draw people out to play a sealed event using product that they just bought a brick or case (or more) of?

Sure, they could always slip one in here and another one in there, but popular characters in the SR slots help pushes sales of sets to casual buyers. Popular characters as prizes for the next sealed event helps push attendance there and gives the venues more sales.

Call me cynical but the "big bad" behind Wanda and pietro's changes are the Disney Fox and their inability to resolve stupid license issues...

even in the original revelation about their heritage, the high evolutionary was involved

Yeah the bad retcon was making them Magneto's kids. Changing it back to the way it was originally is for the best.
