I guess I should see what kind of record keeping may be out there to tell us when the rewards may come. I suspect there are not many between now and the time he is essential, with them wanting folks to dig into their CP stores.
Electro went into LLs on 7/26 and was first essential in an event that started 8/1 or 8/2, depending on slice.
So I would guess Odin will be in LLs for about a week before he is essential.
So he should enter LLs on 8/23 and be essential around 8/29 or so.
You could fav him on 8/23 and pull until you either get him or he hits 110 more shards. You should not need to use more than 37 pulls. And if you are lucky it takes 1.
During the discussion of the new Clix rules I learned the gaming design definition of "feels bad," where you feel like you're being penalized for 'playing the game.' That's kinda where I am right now.
I've got nine characters waiting to be rostered, three of them being four-stars. In order to prevent the backlog from building even further, I stopped cashing in anything but Standard and Elite tokens. I'm sitting on four Odins, forty Heroics, and four Latest Legends. I'm to the point where it costs 700 HP for a new slot. I sold off the 1* Juggernaut meant for team-ups because I was about to lose a recruit, and I'm about to sell off my 1* Widow.
I've spent money, obviously, but now I feel like I can't claim the prizes I win without spending even more. I don't have more time to spend, and I really shouldn't spend more money.

So how did y'all get past that wall?

Do not worry about keeping things fostered for TUs. That is minor and we know a newbie does not have the luxury of superfluous slots for stuff like that.
As for resource management, the best thing to do is to do exactly what you are doing but on a longer term basis until you can handle it.
Essentially, tokens never expire, but covers do, so it is best to keep things as tokens until you are ready.
So you stick where you are and do not open your tokens until you save up enough HP for a new slot. Once you have that, then you open tokens ONLY until you get a new toon to roster. Roster it, then go back to saving.
It feels icky, but it pays off in the long run.
I literally opened only Standard and Elite. Then I ran out of room. At the time before shards we used to just save tokens until we had a lot of them so that's what I did as well. It helped to save up HP.
I spent money too, however when I first started their HP sales were more frequent. Plus they were sometimes followed by roster slot sales.
I miss those days.
I just passed day 1000 and I am sure I have spent about $200 on teh game in total. In the long run, that amount of $$$ for that amount of time is very little. I figure these contributions allow the game to go on for longer, so why not? I don't have any more vices since I don't play clix anymore.
When you come across players who have "better" stuff than you, remember, they are sacrificing building an army little by little by relying on the tentpole.

I'm not worried about 'keeping up with the Joneses' just yet; I know I've got a long time being a newb before that's a big concern.
I have ADHD. That makes me simultaneously a very easy mark, but also very easy to lose -- so long as stuff keeps happening I'm excited and engaged, but eventually the grind gets to me.

The best that I can tell you is that there is quite a rush in those times when you do have the chance.to.do a bunch of cracking.
I am in 5*.land and still look forward to this.
Like, I know that I am looking forward to 8/23 10am EST because I will be opening like 300 LTs.
I had a DUH moment just now.
I think I have mentioned that it seems like my rate for acquiring LL pulls has been declining slightly with no change to my own habits.
I think it hit me why that might be.
I think the fact that I have started to max out my 4*’s is the culprit.
Like, the placement for last PVE and progression for the current one is Grocket. I have them maxed.
That puts a 13 cover gap in play where I would not be getting champ level rewards.
In total, I have 28 max champed 4*s. Going into the farm, That amounts to 364 4* covers that are not earning champ rewards.

That kinda sucks.
So, are you going to start farming duplicates?
Get another 4* GRocket made and champed and earning champ rewards?
Fool, Idiot, Loser, Moron, Misfit, Schmoe.
Progressive-Centrist Republican, Deist.
Trying to be useful, expecting to be fired.

Oh, I already have, but I have not done anything with them but amass covers and shards. Except for Medusa, I have just left them at level 70. (The thought here being that someday I will have fun champing a bunch and raking in a heap of rewards.)

Would you have enough ISO for that spree?

What I was thinking I would do is just save up until I hit the point where doing it would get me that next milestone for spending ISO to level toons.
BTW, some quick math…..
Total Rewards for a feeder:
10 LT
250 CP
112,500 ISO
4000 HP
Total rewards for a non-feeder:
4 LT
219 CP
112,500 ISO
3350 HP
1 5* cover
2500 5* shards
Divide those by 100 to figure out what an average champ level is worth.
In my 4* farm the total numbers of covers (includes shards) I have sat on is
Feeders: 85
Non-feeders: 160
What that translates to using the average champ level value:
(85 * .1) + (160 * .04) = 14.9 LT
(85 * 2.5) + (160 * 2.19) = 562.9 CP
Basically, that is 27 LT pulls.
I do not know when when I got my second max champ. (First has already been champed.)
My third was Blade on 11/25/2020.
That is 256 days ago.
I don’t think it was too long between max number two and three.
But for a rough estimate to make things easy this works out to a .1/day that would have on average been added to my pulls per day.
Update: Had a few covers about to expire today. Saw that the Peggy Carter kit was a much better bargain than just buying tokens so went for it. Was pleased with the extra 500HP for the duplicate costume.
Down to 5 covers to recruit, and five days before it's a problem again. Then I'll force myself to be disciplined. Currently at 57 Heroic, 18 Standard, 26 Elite, 3 Mighty, 4 LL, 4 Odin. (The Odins will stick around until I use them, right?)
(Also: Went back through Campaign to make sure I collected all the HP there.)

Correct. Tokens do not expire, which is why it is way better to sit on them until you can handle what may come out of them rather than to get whatever comes out of them and have to scramble to not lose it.
