Yeah, GI Joe: Retaliation was fun. Nothing to really write home about, but an entertaining ride.
"Destro, you are out of the band," amused me greatly. Little do they know that Time Lords regenerate!
i thought it was definetely better then the first. It wasn't an oscar winning movie by any means, but I was entertained, as i went in not expecting much at all.
Firefly was awesome. pure and simple. he was the best part of the movie IMO.
I liked that they brought back the Gi Joe looking vehicles form the cartoon and toys.
Also, the snake eyes outift was a HUGE improvement over the first one.
Saw The Place Beyond the Pines last night. Here's my weirdest endorsement: I had to use the bathroom into the second preview, but didn't leave the theater until the movie was over... 2 and half hours later. Just a really nice long story about fathers and sons with lots of tension and heartbreak.

Finally got around to seeing all of Dredd on the weekend.
Nice and gritty, though a bit more graphic than I expected. Nice and simple plot, solid acting on all counts. I'll use the term "popcorn flick" here as well, though perhaps not with the kids

Saw Spring Breakers over the weekend, still not sure how I feel about it. James Franco was great. Everyone I talk too who has seen it is pretty split, either hated or loved it. I saw it with my girlfriend who loved it, and I hated it at first. After some thought and discussion though, I'm coming around.
New Evil Dead is supposedly really good. My roommate saw it twice over the last few months (living in L.A. for the win!). He's a huge fan of the original, and said the new one is one of the most insane movies he's ever seen horror/gore wise.

Bruce Campbell is backing it, so I'll probably go see it.
Honestly, I had pretty high expectations going in. It definitely delivered, and the best part is it had a moment I did not see coming at all. That's rare in a movie, let alone a proverbial kids movie.

Watched The Master and did not really enjoy it. Later in the week watched The Other Guys and enjoyed it more than the film that preceded it... but it was nothing more than a way to kill a couple hours.

I want to see G.I. Joe: Retaliation but I know they based it off of G.I. Joe: Resolute (one of the best G.I. Joe stories EVER) and it would seem that Retaliation doesn't have the nerve to stick to the story it partially lifted from Resolute.

The only real reason to see Retaliation is to wrap up a few of the stories from the first movie. And to see what the original animatred movie would have done if people wouldn't have gotten upset about killing off all the Transformers with their movie a few months prior. It was a shame that some stories were left alone (like whether or not Baroness was completely removed from her brother's mind control), but it's not completely a waste.
