D3adpool and SWitch for me, in the same 3* Essential, every day. I'll also keep looking at my goal to 999,999 to figure out how many days until MPQ hits me up with a "need to use whales" node. In perfect irony, I got back to 999,999 2 days before Welcome to SHIELD dropped.
Well, I went into the Welcome to SHIELD lvl 04 wave node event expecting to be scraping by and figuring out the better team to bring. Because 5* lvl 03 was SO hard.
And.... it was easy. 3 waves, all NPC characters (except the last one, Hellcat). Worst part of it was that there were 2 Ultrons, one yellow eyes, and one green. But I was playing my standard Gritty/Hellcat (Hellcat required) and we tore through the waves one by one.

Yeah. I was expecting one of those waves where you have chump after chump and then wind up facing some ultra powerful single enemy on the last one.
I played Patsy with Okoye and 5X. I just saved up all of my AP anticipating that having a stash would be good on last wave.
I went into it with 30 TU AP.
I fired up 5X’s purple, picking green, and took out the first three.
Then I fired it off again to take out the last three.
OK guys, SHIELD is over. What are your overall thoughts now that you have played through it as much as possible?
Since this is the first time I felt like I could actually win the LL I was happy about it. There was no way I could ever finish the old SHIELD experience. D3 still made this a limited event meaning that not everyone was going to do well in it and you still need required characters or else you are SOL. I think people are realizing more that you need to use whales or else it is just plain old impossible. I appreciate how much easier the last node was. I really didn't like how you had to use new toon + required character as it felt very limiting.

Old SHIELD Training - 1 full 4* cover. Requirement typically the second oldest 4* having 10 covers or more. 12 nodes (for the cover) were all relatively manageable.
New SHIELD Training - Legendary token and 1/2 a 4* cover. Requirement was all older stuff. All nodes easy except for Day 2/5* - managebale; Day 3/5* - very hard; Day 4 - manageable. And if you could not do the Day 3 node, you still got some Hellcat shards.
I look at the above and I think it's better the new way.
The first run of the old SHIELD training had all older characters required too - so of course newer players complained about having to level up old characters. Then it started to require a newly released character at least most of the time.
So, you know, requirements might change.
I meant to put that caveat in there. But as long as the level requirement stays the same (i.e., level didn't matter, you just needed to have the toon), I think I'm still ok with it.
I currently do not have Yelena or Apocalypse. That's a decision on my part (validated by Havok being the reward for Webbed Wonder/Simulator, which will get me to 9 covers + 2K shards, finishing him off). If I needed one, I'd go into the Legendary Store and get one. But I'm hoping for Havok to roll out and then I'll deep dive for Hulk (currently at 4 covers, I think) and the 2 new ones.
(And yes, phantalien, I've tracked every LT I've earned since the last opening)
Awesome! I was going to have another big splurge opening and wanted to think about my options for when I start cracking all the tokens.
Here are my 3 ideas in order of most recent opportunity to make a mass opening...
1. When I hit 100 standard tokens
2. When I hit 250 elite tokens
3. When Havok is out of the LL store
4. When the support store has Taskmaster's sword (could be in #2 spot)
All right guys I hit 2 milestones on this list, 100+ standard tokens and Taskmaster's sword in the support store.
I didn't pull a taskmaster sword of the 3 supports I got two were dupes and the advance token got me Spider Senses, which was new. Yay! But useless, boo! Too bad, but I was happy to have 3 chances to get supports. (would write a new rant thread for supports)
Then I opened up everything, which means Standard, Elite, Heroic, and Mighty. that came to opening 100 standard, 200 elite, 30 heroic, 2 heroic 10-packs, 20 mighty.
All BS were for my 3*, the highest amount was for 150 shards.
It was very underwhelming opening heroics and mighties because of how few 4*s I pulled out of 70 combined pulls, which was 4 or so. I pulled 180+ 2*, which helped a lot with the farms. I got a lot of 3*s but too many toons were just far enough away from an LL or CP that I felt like I didn't make any headway in that area. It was also interesting that I could pull 5-7 Carols but not a single Daken. I guess that's a testament to the importance of shards.

Thanks! You didn't have to do it, but I guess you enjoy projects like this.
You're right, I do enjoy these kinds of projects. Anyone with data-collection ideas should start thinking of what they want to see next (I'll be cracking my next horde once Havok rolls out, which I think happens in about 2 weeks).

Think you were underwhelmed now? Imagine hording all that and then having to crack those tokens one at a time. Back in MY day, we didn't have them fancy multi-token buttons. (I'm kidding, of course. Whenever I needed to crack a horde like that, I just had my son take care of it. Nothing a special needs kid loves more than a repetitive task with flashing lights.)

If they do this in the future I would like to at least have the required toon be level boosted to match the new one. Trying to do this with a 280ish Carnage and 255 OML was a bad feeling, especially on day 3. Dislike an event that is Whales or Fails.
And not sure how much better or worse this is than the old training. Honestly results wise I think it is a push but this was WAY more frustrating to play through.

The current LL store is Havok, Hulk, and Yelena.
If I am not mistaken, Yelena entered the LLs on Monday, May 18th.
Apocalypse was released two weeks after her, so I would be expecting him to enter the LLs two weeks after her, too, which would mean this coming Monday, June 1st.
Am I missing something or misremembering when she went in there?
I suppose that there is the possibility of a delay on Apocalypse to give Havok a "full" run in the LLs, but I would not expect that, personally.
