Also as Jack said, people who have played as much as most of us here have have to stop being afraid to be wrong when they vote. The total amount of votes cast in the vampire and gundam games was like, less than 20. And that is REDICULOUS for a full game of over 20 players for vampire. Town can't be afraid to vote. Its like, the main game mechanic.

20 votes total in a 20 player game for the whole game?
Jeez, it's one game in which you up and quit Night 1, why are you focusing on that?
That game had a Mass MD N1, and numerous non-Mafia deaths at night. Things happen. Just glancing at it quickly, there was plenty of chatter, but Mafia took control. It was a gamble that paid off.
You can't look at the last two games alone and extrapolate that Town is bad. Town won 50% of the most recent games! These go in Waves, really.
"Why would the possibility of me being wrong ever stop me from doing something?"

I mean, if you think that's all I'm focusing on you haven't been reading what I've been saying. Those two games are just really good examples some of the things I'm talking about.
I'm also not the only one who thinks there's a problem, I'm just the most vocal about it.
I personally like 48 hour days, 24 hour night. I sometimes get busy for 24 hours but rarely so busy I can’t send in a night action. Plus, that means there’s something going on in thread 2/3rds of the time.
It would be interesting if there was a game without a cop but who would volunteer to run such a game.
Not sure if i could pull it off in my xmen and since its more important i have to try and run a better game its a non starter on my end.
There wasn't really a cop in my game (he also go eliminated night 1). It's a power I honestly don't plan to use much, particularly the traditional alignment cop.

well i did use a power called lookout in my ff game, but ii had to modify the full power and use half of the power. I probably could so away with cop role in x-men mafia and use a different power.
i'l think about it when i do my pregame notes
To smurf out of hell or not to smurf out of hell that is the answer to any hellsmurf
*shrug* I suppose. But there are multiple viewpoints on how the game should be PLAYED, and you'll always have disagreements on that. But at the end of the day, it's a game with an End, and I think that's more a measurable factor than opinions on style of play of others impacting *your* enjoyment.
I'm just re-quoting this so I don't have to rewrite the same exact sentiment in different words.
What, am I normal or not?
Am I crazier than other patients?
Right, I've done everything right.
So where's the karma, doc? I've lost my patience.
I personally think this entire argument is overblown. There have always been high talkers and low talkers.
I just did a quick look at the games we've had since The Return. Starting with Mags' Arkham game, we've had 15 games.
We've had 6 Town Wins, 2 pure Neutral Win, and 7 Mafia wins.
Now, that may look like it's too weighted to Mafia, but some of those were driven by Neutrala siding with Mafia, and some came down to the wire for endgame.
We've only had a handful of truly Mafia curbstomps (Arkham Dunwich, Fav Moments, arguably Vampire and Gundam).
It's SUPPOSED to be hard for Town to win. I think a 33%-40% win rate is in line with what it should be.

Looking at the number of votes at the end of each phase in my vampire game, I count 45, or 30 if you don't count the first day vote for an item. Going through and counting votes that were placed and removed would take more time than I'm willing to invest at the moment.
So, that is pretty low in number of votes, but not quite as bad as you make it out to be.
As for the amount of discussion in the thread aside from votes, I compared the number of posts in my vampire game vs. my Spider-Man game going into the last day, and the vampire game had about 30% less posts, despite having more players. I'm not sure why that is. Could have to do with the theme, or the game happening at a poor time, or even a deliberate effort by some players to talk more or less depending on their alignment.
I also had one player quit, one player replaced for inactivity, and a third player that would have been replaced for inactivity if the game wasn't nearly over already, so that probably skews the numbers, but that could also be considered symptoms of an overall problem of inactivity.

Interesting discussion. I think I have played in 7 or so of the latest games. The last 5 were either SK/Mafia, so haven't played town recently since I gained more experience, but both have their challenges for me
As town I really get paranoia (I guess that's the point ), as mafia it is difficult to build a truthful story and I try to stay low. I think in either case I hardly ever vote. So I guess I need to learn to at least cast my suspicions with a solid case.
As for expectation to win, is the target always 50-50? There are many more town members, should their percentage be higher? Or do you acknowledge that getting assigned scum/town is random anyway so you can keep it at 50-50 and it would balance out over multiple games? And how do you factor in SK? The two games I played that role (unless something missed in the description) it was just a bare SK, no extra life or safe claim, so I felt I had 0.0001% chance (maybe also I'm not too good yet in lying about my actions )
As for roles in the game, even though I absolutely love the creativity that goes in all the game, maybe we can sometimes switch up a bit more with what is and what s not in the game. How about some of these:
- Instead of regular cop, target two alive players (except yourself); you get told if they have the same alignment or not
- This might be a bit tricky regarding timing and too unbalanced, but instead of Town Doc, if there are multiple kills at night, you get to pick to save one
- I think I would also like to see town roles that are passive, in the sense that you don't have to send in a night action; maybe that benefits mafia more, as they can more easily avoid claiming night actions, but it opens up some room for claims or denying them
I've opened up signups for my next Hybridity game. There are other games meant to start before it, so it won't start until those are finished, but I wanted to give myself some time with roles.
This is removed from the main series and has a gothic horror feel, so if you've never played in one of my games before and you like the theme then feel free, you'll be starting fresh story wise.
