This week I saw a documentary on PBS about the career of The Bee Gees. Reminded me of a group that I initially loved, then pretty much couldn't stand to listen to later on.
Back to the Bee Gees. I usually really liked every song they did early on. I still love this song: TO LOVE SOMEBODY (The Bee Gees).
For some reason, when they learned that they could sing in falsetto and went disco, it almost made my teeth hurt. To this day I really don't understand the appeal, and always change the channel or station when their disco songs come on. Not all disco, pretty much just the Bee Gees.

I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
I've always liked the Bee Gee's 1966's Spicks and Specks... It's one of those songs that I can imagine being done by any number of different bands of that era... or even revisited by somebody like My Chemical Romance.
The Carpenters: Karen Carpenter was a competent drummer too but she caught some unwanted heat from John Bonham when Playboy magazine ranked her higher than him in some article. I think they were hoping she'd feel flattered and agree to pose for them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaqoQr-aCtQ

I know I'm piling a lot of homework on you, but I'm bored and I probably won't get back to this until next Friday. Just pace yourself and take them as you can.
Danielle Brisebois: She was the little girl added to the All in the Family cast when Mike and Gloria moved away. She acted for a bit when she grew up but switched to singing. She put out two albums. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiGNT4gcqho
Delaney, Bonnie & Friends: This was a hit for the Carpenters, but Bonnie Bramlett kills it too. It's about the groupie phenomenon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpZ7BOSmO64
Dengue Fever: This might be the most interesting thing I'm posting here. Apparently, there was a vivid music scene in Cambodia before Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge regime, and this band has dedicated themselves to keeping that music alive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EFXgnpzBmA

I first heard this on The Jools Holland show a few years ago, and its been on my favorites playlist ever since. Ray Davies of The Kinks was on the same show and after hearing them do this song, said he would be glad to tour with them. I tried to find that live performance to add here because it was so darn fun to see, but couldn't find it.
I try to be positive about all things music, but after talking about the Bee Gees earlier this week, I woke up this morning to this embarrassing Oscar's piece of garbage. Don't particularly dislike the song at all, but this performance by Ryan Gosling and Slash (yes, Slash) is so insipid and painful.
Also, really don't understand punching and breaking 1/2" thick, giant boards while wearing gloves during the song. Four year old girls and boys can easily break those. I've taught scores of young children to do just that for belt tests.
It's from the Barbie movie, which has a lot of goofy male posturing in it from Ken. It's in character. He ain't tryin' to show off his toughness. It's very tongue-in-cheek.
I had to laugh at how the Barbie movie; much like Taylor Swift, triggers far right nutjobs. That movie was made to please my granddaughters not old white males who cheat on their golf scores.

So this is twice that I’ve been corrected regarding the Barbie movie. When the subject first came up, I told a mid-twenties young lady (who I think highly of) that I thought the movie was terrible. She seemed almost horrified by that, saying that she absolutely loved it. I told her that I would watch it again and get back to her. Should have learned my lesson, but of course I evidently did not. I should be quiet 🤫 until I watch it again as promised.
Not really an excuse but seeing Slash, a hard partying rock n’ roll icon surrounded by tuxedoed dancers, sort of took me by surprise. Then, as a longtime martial art instructor, I went with a knee jerk reaction to the wooden boards. That is something I’ve always taught my students NOT to do. My bad.
So I guess it’s time to enjoy the movie again. Paying more attention this time.

This is a favorite ballad of mine from the early Bee Gees First of May

Did anybody else get Lindsey Stirling vibes from Yuve Yuve Yu ?
Since I don't know anything about Lindsey Sterling I have to say no.
