"And the green team keeps widdling away at the big guy! With a quick swat Huntress took the Blue Beetle out of the team. Then Phoenix and Atom distracted and hit him HARD."
"Bottom line, Kitty, " says Rogue, "Is the red team is still holdin' strong."
"Wow, look at that! The Red Team sure doesn't look like it's ready to give up! Magik and Green Arrow work together and take down the Beast. And now Superman delivers a punch to Firestorm."
"Sheee-oot!" Rogue interjected.
"You can say that again Rogue. All the hits he's taken and he still packs a serious punch. Did you see the way he sent Firestorm flying? I guess that's why he's Superman!"
"Well whadda know? Firestorm's got some life in him. Almost took out the big guy," Rogue observes.
"That's what happens when you have flame for hair, Rogue. Quicksilver's attack didn't fare as well. The red team still holds strong with Superman on top."
Okay, Superman's down to his last click without even Toughness, No doubt you'll finish him off next turn, so it's time for one of those noble gestures he's wont to do.
He'll push to Force Blast Quicksilver back to Q9. The click of push damage will KO Superman.
Psylocke will move up to M12 to take the Hill.
Phoenix is on the crest, and Gambit's on the other, so Gambit should have LoF to her, so he'll Perplex up his damage and attack her. AV9 on DV16, so he needs a 7. Gets an 8. Phoenix takes 2.
"I dunno, Kitty, that last shot from Firestorm looks like it took a lot out of Superman."
"Hm, I think you're right, Rogue. I think the Green Team's finally worn Superman down. He's looking pretty rocky. But it looks like he's gathering himself together for something..."
---------------------------------------------------------------------
"Psylocke," his voice came in her head. "Be ready to move. You're going to have to take over here..."
---------------------------------------------------------------------
"He's using his Super-breath! He's blowing Quicksilver all the way down the hill!"
"Looks t'me like that's it for him, though."
"I think you're right, Rogue. He's down, but before he fell, he cleared the way for his teammate. Psylocke's up there now, standing over the unconscious Superman, psychic knife at the ready. She looks pretty determined. Good luck taking her down."
"Whoa! You go Gambit. While everyone else was payin' attention to what was goin' on up top, that sneaky Cajun hit Phoenix blindside with one o' his cards."
"Well this is getting exciting. Time's running low. The Red Team's heavy hitter is down, but does the Green Team have enough time left to dislodge them?"
Was that really round 10 already? Despite all the mistakes on both sides, it's hard to believe we're almost done.
Do you think it's too much of an advantage, me going last? Should we make it that victory is not final until the player holding the hill holds it through their opponent's next turn? I mean if you take the hill between now and the end, and I knock you off on my last turn, you don't have a chance to come back.
No I'm cool with things as they stand. We both get equal chances to the top of the hill. You know despite all the problems this has been a real fun game, I'd like to try it again.
Atom perplexes Psylocke's defense down to 14. Phoenix attacks Psylocke, needs 5, gets 2. 1 to Rachel.
Firestorm will attack Psylocke. Needs 7, rolls 7. 2 more.
I'm glad you're enjoying the game, by the way. I'd be glad to run it again sometime. I've though of a better way to word the whole "crest of the hill blocking line of fire" thing that's a lot less ambiguous, so hopefully we won't have the same problems next time.
Other ideas: You mentioned redoing the team contest we're doing with a 500 point build total, which I like. It would keep character like Thor and the Surfer from predominating so much. Another variant I had thought of is doing a 300 point version again, but this time, you choose the teams, but your opponent build your team for you. (You've got the Brotherhood? Let's see you can have the Toad, the Blob...)
Though, maybe we could cut that down a bit and start with only 8 or 12 teams rather than the full complement.
For smaller games, there's still the build your team from an existing storyline idea that you had, which I'm still good with.
This game will be over soon, and we can start the last of the semi-semi-finals. Avengers vs Injustice League. At least that will be more of a game and less of a blowout (I hope!)
