Oh trust me, I want Brett to stay in Green Bay, because if he does land with the Vikings, it will be the Vikings winning this division handily. If he stays in Green Bay, we'll get "good Brett/bad Brett" which is much like "Good Rex/Bad Rex" here in Chicago.
Besides, the longer Brett does this routine, the longer it takes for the Packers to get back on top of the division.
Brett Favre has the same amount of rings as Jim McMahon (as starting QB.) Beyond that, is there anything similiar about the two?
With Brett, they'd be a favorite for a year, maybe two at best. Without him?
The Vikings are much like the Bears; only with a better (and proven) RB.
The Vikings are good because they have an awesome offensive line. I don't feel like Adrian Peterson is a proven commodity in the league. He had an excellent rookie season, but he also got hurt, and Chester Taylor ran very well behind that same line. I'm still not sold on Peterson as the end-all, be-all #1 fantasy pick and stud running back...but I do agree that a QB upgrade in Minnesota would make them a dangerous team. They also have upgraded their receiver corps and that would benefit said QB upgrade. As for AP, he needs to have a couple more 1,000 yard rushing seasons for me to get excited (see Ladanian Tomlinson).

I had someone give me a great analogy. If you owned/managed/coached an NFL team and your 2 choices for starting quarterback were Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre...who would YOU choose?
If it was the only year I'd be coaching? Brett Favre.
If I had a 4 or 5 year contract? Aaron Rodgers.
Not even a question in my mind, really.

Wait, the Vikings have a Quarterback? Since when?!?
Hell, at this point, if the Vikings just got a reliable (not necessarily good) QB, I'm thinking something like Trent Dilfer when he was with the Ravens for their Superbowl run... I think they'd be a definite favorite to win the division and put up a serious fight for the NFC Championship. Stellar running game, crushing defense... they just need a passing game that can keep the opponent honest.

It looks as if Brett's career at Green Bay is truly over. I just watched/listened to Mike McCarthy's press conference on the tv/radio (I was going from room to room).
I am unhappy at the outcome of this entire situation.

Well, more proven compared to the Bears situation is what I meant. The Vikings AP is far superior compared to the Bears AP.
Uh, yeah. He just took his ball and went home because he didn't hear what he needed to hear from Coach McCarthy.
Someone who isn't selfish wouldn't of needed 4 additional months to "get the itch."
That has nothing to do with being selfish. There's been several times that I didn't think I'd want to play basketball or soccer again and then when it's time for the season to start, I've "got the itch" and get out there and play again.
He just wants to play. He doesn't want the money to stay retired. He didn't want to play elsewhere. But, they're making it pretty obvious they don't want him there, so he doesn't have much choice but to possibly go play somewhere else.
You guys crack me up with all of this "selfish" talk...
