You didn't state whether powercreep affects the volume of YOUR purchases.
We do speculate that powercreep increases sales, part of the reason I started this thread is I was curious what percentage of people buy more Heroclix because of powercreep.
Nah, typically the dials don't affect my cost, just my liking of the set.
I found Avengers lukewarm, but between that set and Justice League I bought the most.
Secret Invasion has some of the best dials, but haven't bought too much of it.
Didn't buy much of Icons (only due to sealed events and collecting pieces), and yet for its time, it was one of the most powerful sets.
So no, power creep does not influence my buying habits, I collect enough to get/trade for a complete set and that's about it. However, the power creep does influence my appreciation for the game.
Eh . . .

Even following the accursed Tuttle strategy of driving up secondary market prices: why wouldn'tthe company want *older* figures to have as much secondary market value as newer figures?
myopic planning - something in which every business/human partakes?

Up to a point. Where simple figs a playable, and not just cannon fodder.
Question 2> How does powercreep affect the amount you spend on new sets?
It does increase the intrest of adding more unique, and point effiecint pieces.
But not to the point where everyone who knows kung-fu can dish out 4 damage (Bronze Tiger, Shang Chi, Green Arrow), along with high point efficiencey. Even though I joined the clix movement when Sinister came out, compared to the set around that time, things seemed normal:
(average stats start-mid dial)
16-17
8-10
8
2-3
Old figs were deffinantly worse (ie before before Legacy), with FF being really balanced. Of course their remains the hand full of figs from old who hold on to thier value, but back when they came, were considered broken.
Recently (I'd say since Origins), things have started climbing again though. Not only have stats risen 1-2 points on average, but the amount of figs that have higher damage potential is way up. I'm sorry but figs with double perplexed damage, RCE,CCE, and even BCF makes the number of figs capable of dishing out 4+ damge a majority the sets lately. I'm not bothering with SS, since most figs capable of lifting obects, should also be capable of dishing it out, not to mention objects are limited and not always accesible.
Honestly, I don't see a way of climbing down the power creep slope without making new figs seem wimpy, but I do wish it would stop. 18 def used to be a rarity, Origins alone basicly doubled the amount of figs with this number from all the previous sets. And now we get figs with several 18 in a row (Black Adam, Rampaging Hulk, and Maestro), granted those are extream hitter, but even the best supermen out there don't have that high of defense. But the big problem other that the def rise is the formentioned damage potential rise, while armor has remained the same.
And now armor is far more easily bypassed, especially with outwit and PB everywhere these days. I honestly think armor should be boosted, damage mods limited to one boost (1+ perplex, object, or RCE/CCE), and it should be non outwitable. I mean I'm sorry but Doc Strange (or Mr. Fantastic) with the new Spidy, should not allow Spidy to Flurry for 5 each time. Not to mention a 20 pt piece like Talia shouldn't dish out 12 clicks (excluding knockback and crit) to Superman or Hulk do to a simple outwit, which was avalible in over 2/3 of last sets figs.
Without powercreep, new figures have less appeal to the min/maxers, especially as they get more and more obscure.
Fixed it for you.
I remember a Wizard Worlds thread from a few years ago where the majority of the Top 8 had constructed teams made almost wholly of characters from 2 years prior to the WW tourney (Xplosion). I remarked something like "it feels like we time traveled to Spring 2003," and one of the Top 8 finalists replied "yeah, there haven't been very many good characters lately" [paraphrased].
2 years from Xplosion would contain Cosmic Justice to Mutant Mayhem.
Not many very good figures . . . ? Yeah right, people just wanted the Paramedics, the Con Artists, the Black Panthers, the Jean Greys, and the Destinys. Those pieces of #### didn't leave until Legion of Super Heroes it seemed.
Eh . . .

I'M the sheep, because I can actually play the game and not only have fun, but win, and you're the hero of the day, because you're standing up to the big bad warmachine, and offering everyone a chance to play a better game by fixing the rules.
Yep, I'm just waiting my execution, and you're neo
You're nothing if not consistant.
As far as time goes, it takes a decidedly less amount of time to comment on threads made by a zealot that are on the front page (Hey I also reply to other threads too!) when I have down time at work (I have the easiest job ever) than to be the heroclix messiah and develop a new game system with my name in the title (god complex? lol)
As for the valuing his opinion thing, that wasn't a question, it was pretty much a demand. You obviously didn't get the point of his post, so rather than ask a follow up question, like an angry father dealing with a pertinent child, you demanded he answer your question
Basically here's the rub
You can hate this game all you want, and wanna be jesus and change it all you want: But it's just not that big of a deal, and aside from your cronies, no else cares as much as you do, so of course we're going to tease you about it. Think of it this way, we're not crucifying you, so you're getting off light compared to what you could be getting with that attitude.
Here's some tips for you since you seem to have some misunderstandings.
First off I never named my rules, "Brazilclix"...that's what people like you who like to make fun of me have named them. When I do talk about my rules I'm always quick to give credit to those who helped work on them...they are far from only "My ideas" there were around 2 dozen people, (mostly from here on HCRealms), as well as a handful of local players who contributed to them. I took polls to find out which powers the players here on HCRealms found to be overcosted, undercosted or well valued. I used that data as well as suggestions from anyone who was willing to offer them to try to come up with the best solutions. Yet, people like you who think I'm on some High horse...have named them "Brazilclix" other assorted names when they're trying to make fun of them.
Next there are a few tell-tale signs you can use to tell the difference between a "Polite question" and a "Demand". Little details like the word "Please" and this funny squiggly thing: "?" at the end of the words are a couple clues that the person is asking a question.
Seriously dude, try to be a little more consistant....you're all over the place...Am I "God" or "Hitler"....that's quite the range you're accusing me of falling in to.

Not to venture too far deep into the mud puddle, but I'm pretty sure Hitler at least thought he was a god . . .

I don't know if Jesus named his religion Christianity either, but he was still responsible for it. Not that I am comparing you to Jesus, but you get the metaphor.
And if you don't, keep reading, the bold text will be an eye opener

Lol hey thanks for the quick lesson on assembling a sentence that rings of politeness. However, as I'm sure you're aware, simply saying the words please, thank you, and using a question mark do not facilitate the aforementioned polite question. One is fully capable of being a dick head and saying please in the same sentence. So if you'd said "I'm sorry, would you mind clarifying if you are for it or not please?" that would've been much less dick head-ish then to say "Answer the question, please" like you did. Instead of asking for clarification, you sounded like a bored telemarketer.

Please note the following:
I AM NOT CALLING YOU GOD, JESUS, OR THE MESSIAH. I AM SAYING YOU HAVE A MESSIAH COMPLEX. THERE IS A GIGANTIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO. PLEASE GET IT RIGHT, BECAUSE EVERY TIME YOU INFER THAT I AM IN FACT THE ONE CALLING YOU GOD YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT.
If you want me to explain the difference I'd be glad to, but I really hope I don't need to.
Also, I wouldn't go as far as to say I was calling you Hitler, I was just implying you're gathering forces to rally against Wizkids, and before we know it you'll be invading Poland.
Just noting a similarity.

Well since you seem to have gotten a little lost with your foray into Godwin country, Religion, and making questionable inqueries about things in the buttocks of fellow posters....let us not forget the entire reason this thread started:

Please phrase your posts as follows: Answer two questions and then Discuss or post any comments you have on the subject:
Question 1> Do you like Powercreep?
Question 2> How does powercreep affect the amount you spend on new sets?
Discussion> Put your comments and stuff here.
So with that being the reason I started this thread you somehow are holding me at fault for asking people to answer the questions which are the basis of the entire thread? I'm trying to get each poster's opinion here. Those who didn't provide it, or who's answers weren't clear to me I asked answer or reanswer the question. Am I really "Out of bounds here" getting people to stay on topic?
You're reading things into my motivation for this thread....if you just read what I wrote, a couple posts later I clearly wrote my motivation for this thread: It's personal information gathering to assess if my own opinion on this subject holds water. Before I go making a donkey of myself, I figured I should actually take the time to find out people's opionions on this subject instead of presuming to know what people think.
But somehow you're viewing this as "Raising an army"?
So if it turns out that most of the people don't like powercreep, and most of the people don't base their purchases on powercreep...then wouldn't bringing this to Wizkids attention if indeed Wizkids is intentionally powercreeping a good idea?
How is that "Me raising an army"? I'm just collecting public opinion, it could very well turn out that the majority are in favor of powercreep and it does lead to more people buying more figures. In which case, I would know that what I suspect is wrong.

Well, this old song and dance is getting tired and frankly a little pathetic. From now on, if you wanna argue with me, try and stick to the point I'm arguing, instead of putting words into my mouth, and then arguing with those words.
I don't care that you would rather he answer the question. I just pointed out that I thought it was funny that he offered his opinion on what power creep really was, and in his explanation he gave excellent insight into the problem as far as he was concerned, and you completely ignored that well thought out response in favor of a black and white yes or no. Now, since you'd prefer he'd just come out and said yes or no, you're more than welcome to ask a follow up. Hell, you could've called him a tosser and asked for him to answer the question or you're gonna blow up a hospital. I don't care. It's your thread, your life, do what you wanna do. I just thought it was funny that you were being so serious, and a little curt about something so trivial after he just gave you a better answer than you wanted.
Note: I didn't say you couldn't follow up, and in fact, I didn't say you were wrong for doing so. I said you had a piss poor attitude. Which, honestly, I'm starting to believe is just your personal philosophy.

Oh wow. This paragraph just made you sound like a complete doofus. So rather than get what someones actual beliefs are, and understand the people you're peddling your new clix-world order to, you want them to answer yes or no, black and white, there is no gray area? Zero Cochrane was right, this isn't a big enough sample, nor a diverse enough one to gather any hard evidence from. Anecdotal is about as efficient (even more so, as you can get actual feeling out of it rather than yes/no/maybe) in this situation.
Also, what are your plans? Get a poll going, then hop back into that other thread and say "neener neener neener, X more people are against power creep (which is a loaded question anyway. You might as well ask everyone if they are ok with shooting children. Of course they'll say no, and it doesn't really mean anything) than you all thought!"
If you really believe you can change clix for the better, type up your rules, make a post somewhere for your custom rules, and see if like minded individuals agree. If they do, lovely. I salute you for making the game fun for yourself and others of your same beliefs. have at it. The same way I'm fundamentally ok with people doing whatever they want to do in their own homes (barring something that infringes on another persons rights) I couldn't care less how you play heroclix. But don't expect everyone to roll over and say "Oh man, brazil was right! He had twelve guys agree with him in that one thread!" It's just not going to happen. You're gonna scream and scream til you're blue in the face the game is unbalanced, and the same 4 or 5 guys on our side of the field are going to put our head in our hands and shake our head, and nothing will be solved.
So just go, and use your own rules and enjoy the game. Why the need to force it on us? Why the need to rally support to your side? Why the need to make these threads, over and over, getting people to realize the horror in what Wizkids is doing with feats and how they're neutering every team that isn't 2 R shazams with warbound? Why?

But somehow you're viewing this as "Raising an army"?
Well, why do you want the data? To march to the gates of Wizkids LOTR style and demand they change the way the game is done because you and like 8 guys on Hcrealms said so?

The problem is: You're asking the maybe 20 guys who'll see this thread before it goes back a page or two as topics that people actually care about get bumped.
Another problem: You're stifling people. They are giving their well thought out responses, and you're saying "yes or no please, no time for personal thought"
Regardless, I'm sure you'll wholly ignore my post, and pick it apart and find some small sentence (or make up your own, you're a bit weird in that regard) to argue and my points will be lost to the sands of time.

You're raising an army because you're looking for like minded individuals to join in the argument. In the last thread, you had a couple cronies, but more people agreed with me, cochrane, and aragorn, so the thread eventually died down as you had less and less ground to stand on in that war of attrition. Plus, the more people you get on your side, the less it looks like "Old crazy Brazil is ramblin again" and more like "the rebel alliance just blew up our death star"
Again, you're not collecting public opinion, you're pigeonholing people into your loaded question, and calling it science. You're sampling the graveyard and European folks and calling it the populace.
Basically you may or may not have a legitimate point across these three threads. I'm not sure. Personally, I doubt it, but you never know. Unfortunately, you're nearly incapable of going about discussing these alleged points in a decent manner (wholly ignoring arguments, taking things out of context, purposefully misinterpreting things, putting words into others mouths, etc) so don't be surprised if you're not taken seriously, and people start to think of you as that weird old guy who complains about how back in his day you went straight fighter 20, and you liked it, and there were race requirements on classes, and you took proficiency cooking, and that was good enough for you!
People offer an opinion on what powercreep is, and brazil demands you answer whether you're for it or against it.
He's setting the stage for the final conflict guys. You're either for him, or you're a lemming sheep brainwashed by the evil conglomerate.
In all fairness, Brazil started this thread by asking 2 questions; I think he has a reasonable expectation to have those questions answered. Answer the questions and THEN beat him down if you want.

Honestly, I do believe there is a powercreep, and I like it. I like getting figures that are good their whole dial instead of really top heavy, with 9 clicks to get to a medic and heal back to number 1.
And the only thing that effects my purchasing habits is character selection. I bought 1 booster from Supernova, as I hated nearly every single person in the set (until I read Supreme Power, and some Inhumans stuff)
