Don't see the issue here, its not like these things are going to be game breaking, and you don't have to buy or u se them. Plus with all the cheese around its not like any teams are comic accurate at most venues anyway. If you don't want to play against them at home, then tell your friends not too. I've never understood the comic eliteness with this game, if you want to build theme teams and comic accurate teams that's awesome go do it, what does it matter what you face? How does it hurt you because a portion of the fanbase gets something they really like. And comparing it to Hannah Montana and Barney is just stupid, after all GoW had a couple of relatively successful mini-series through Dark Horse ( I think), so its not like there isn't some synergy. Edit: Its Wildstorm (DC Set) and apparently its still a bi-monthly ongoing on their 17th issue.
That being said I liked the first GoW, hated the second and probably won't buy the 3rd, so this doesn't excite me. I might pick a few up to get some generic soldiers, but thats about it. So far the compatible non-comic licensed properties hasn't got me too amped up. Star Trek on the other hand...
Eh, it's looking like the dart board theory. They keep throwing stuff trying to hit even more of the demographic market. If your concerned about saturation of different themes for Hero clix, then you might just have to buckle down and build a team of comic book heroes to grind these newer figures into dust. Treat it like a challenge.
For me I have to start making choices about which sets to buy. I can't afford all of the new product coming out. That is the only reason that Gears of War and LOTR doesn't interest me, all my summer cash is with Captain America at the moment and I've already pushed the limit with GSX.
Eddie looms on the Horizon and I'm sure that there will be at least a brick of Superman in my future. Also fast forces Thor and GL, also are in the mix. Street fighter I might cherry pick a few just so Byz doesn't have the monopoly on the pieces. Cripes I just can't budget for it all, and there's more coming in 2012.

As with Iron Maiden, I don't really like the idea but won't begrudge the fans. I do wish they'd stick with things with broader appeal like LOTR and Street Fighter.

Its 10 pieces, and it has a much broader appeal than Invincible, City of Heroes and Villains and the majority of the Indy set. I think there's places for both the broad appeal and the niche stuff, especially if its a smaller set.
I am more surprised that there aren't as many gamers on this site. When I saw these I thought a lot of people would be pleased. Then again, they could just be the ones not saying anything. And personally, with most of the indy clix, I truely only cared about getting me a Hellboy and a few Judges. And the only reason I knew of these is because of the movies. With all the advertising and hype building up for Gears 3, I am not surprised that they are going to try to get a little bit of that action.
I am also for the idea to having the gravity feeds in department stores. Growing up as a kid, you only got to go to the comic shop if you did all your chores, and even then the money was limited. How often do you see kids in Target and Walmart just grabbing things and their parents buying them? A parent isn't going to put up a commotion for a 3 dollar figure most times considering how expensive actual toys are. Also considering where the CCG section in Target it (right by the registers) hopefully they will get enough funding to something to please all of us from this adventure.
Between LOTR, Street Fighter, Iron Maiden, and now GoW, I sure am glad I'm not a completionist anymore. But I don't like these releases not because I will be forced to buy them (I won't), but rather because I'll have to fight against them at my venue. I prefer a pure comic themed game. I don't want my Masters of Evil have to square off against Bilbo, Chun Li, and Eddie.

Have you ever read a comic where your favorite hero fights someone new or even a generic army/robot/monster thingy. Think of it like that and you will be fine. All is well in the land of Heroclix.

Fair enough. But where Heroclix varies from the superhero model I wish it would be more popular stuff.
I like it, I wont be buying any GoW or Street Fighter... maybe some LOTR and Iron Maiden. And there ARE comics for Gears of war and Lord of the rings probably are for Street Fighter too out there somewhere. Everythings a comic now...
But I think its great, I don't care for the Gears of War games or Street Fighter... so I wont be buying anything related to them. But I DO love the Assassins Creed games (Also recently made into a comic) and I would buy Assassins Creed figures in a hearbeat and I believe Neca does have rights to AC.
Plus I think its much better for them to have more options for figures to make... I mean really... having a marvel and DC set every few months would get to be too much. How many more Wolverines/Green Lanterns/Spider-men/Supermen and batmen do we need???

As many as people will buy. And people seem to have been buying a lot, if sales figures are any indication.
