With the Internet and all say EVERYONE (and I do mean everyone) decides to join one gang. Doesn't that mean everyone wins?
It's also thematic to no mans land, eliminate all competition to ensure you win! LOL
This is based off a few quick reads and some posts so it might not be 100% correct but I'm sharing because if this isn't right it MIGHT be how I run mine:
Players will firm pods of 4 players, called "gangs" and get a symbol.
Each time a member of said gang wins the tournament their symbol goes on a map.
At the end of the whole series, the gang with the most turf receive LE Penguins. ( since there are 4 of 'em)
I'm thinking about adding a few more things to really enhance this aspect but it sounds really neat to me.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

But only the top 3 members on overall points (1 for playing, 1 for loss, 2 for win, 3 for event win) they gained in the 6 months win a LE. So not only are you competing against other gangs your competing against the members of your own gang.

According to the rules who wins the area is what gang gained the most event points for that event not who actually wins the tournament. So whatever gang has more players will always have a better chance to win an area. But I kind of like how you want to run it, keep them in even groups because it doesn't really make sense that if one gang has 6 guys and all the others have 2 or 3 the one with 6 will win all the time. Trying to keep a similar amount of players per gang will actually come down to how well they did not just one gang has more members then the rest.

Well each gang would be 4, max since that is the limit of LEs.
Good to hear it's not just top winner, as I thought about it that night I thought it would be better to use their groups point total (showing, w's, l's, etc) although another idea is cumulative Victory Points.
Makes it annincentive to play through the end and try and KO something.
Another stipulation would be in round 1 gang members would not face each other. After that they can meet in rounds 2 & 3.
This is all just brainstorming for now.

ok i love the idea of doing an ig-ish thing for dc my only problem is that while you can easily see any of the powerful heroes/villains running around with a powerful glowing gauntlet on, its kind of hard to envision like galactus or doomsday or hulk with a batman belt on. not gonna stop me from playing it tho.

Hulked-Out DC Heroes! Bat-Hulk! Aqua-Hulk! Super-Hulk! Wonder-She-Hulk! Glowing Ring Hulk! Hulkborg!
i think the utility belt thats coming out should have a power that basically counters the infinity gauntlet completely... cause honestly batman would have something like that in there .. just saying..
I really, really, really wish there was a real-life situation where I could tell a large group of people, "YOU ARE NO LONGER ALLOWED TO SPEAK THE WORDS TO LIONEL RICHIE'S SONG, HELLO, AS YOU ARE INTIMIDATING PEOPLE."

I believe you missed something... If I am not mistaken, I read that one of the LE Penguins is for the Judge as well, leaving only THREE for the gang.
So, I highly doubt they will limit the gang size to three... not a large gang there...
And yes, only the top 3 in the winning gang get the prizes, so you will be competing within your own gang as well...
I really do wish we had some SOLID, NECA words and rulings on how this event is intended to be run... there is TONS of interest at my venue about it... much more so than for the IG events.

I've been watching this thread and I think many of you are on what, IMHO only, is the right track. The "Gangs" concept in NML is supposed to be a fun side quest, an appetizer, and not the main course. That said, it is an element that I myself am very interested in and I think it will be a lot of fun as well as add a nice nod to the source material (and wait until you guys have the maps and tokens in hand! They look so cool!)
So here's the deal gang; WK can provide the framework but we're not going to micromanage the NML events at your stores. Now, I'm not saying that's what you're asking for, but I think if everyone were to step back a bit and look at the information out there, many of the questions in this thread could be answered to folks' satisfaction.
My personal opinion on the matter (to separate this from, say, the "official" WK word on the subject) is if everyone wants to be on the same gang at your store, who cares? It still comes down ultimately to whomever has the most points at the end.
Now I agree that the experience may seem a little more limited at the store-level if everyone runs with the same "Gang", but let's not forget that this will all contribute to your "global gang's" performance as well, that is to say, as stores report their results, we will be tallying (most likely on a weekly basis) which gangs are in control of the contested territory each month. The more people in your gang, the greater likelihood that your gang could do well in the global arena.
"Now Muncho, hold on a sec" you may say. "I thought the whole point of this was to win a cool prize and beat the other gangs. If there are no other gangs in my store, what's the point?"
That's a fair point, but let's review the facts:
If everyone is on the same gang, the Penguins still go to the highest pointed players, which means it's still a battle. Gangs suffer from in-fighting ALL the time in the funny books
You are still contributing to your global gang's progress
This is mostly just for fun and flavor. Have fun with it
Added to that, what if everyone in your store is on the same gang, but everyone in another neighboring store is part of another? Now you have a (hopefully friendly) rivalry going on, and a reason to invade (er, play) at each other's stores!
All in all, the gang element to NML is pretty exciting, but I think that you all know what will work best for your stores. If you were to ask for my personal advice, I would say talk to your players and your store and determine how best to offer this element in your NML events. If nothing else, try it out as is and fine-tune from there.
I hope this is, at least in some way(s), helpful to you all.

Thanks for the info...
Yeah, at our store people are already 'fighting' to get on the best players gangs, and the judge is wondering how to handle it... ie, if me and two friends wanna be a gang by ourselves, can we? should he force others to be on teams randomly?
I know it is upto us, and thanks for the answers... looks like he will have to read your answer and decide...
I hope he allows us to choose our own gangs, since I would strongly NOT like to be forced to be on some players gangs...lol.
:D
Thanks again Muncho!
