Y'know, if I wanted to read "The Amazing Doctor Octopus" I would have picked that up every month instead. Oh, wait...that's right...they never made such a book because nobody ####ing wants it!
It's also not the book they are making. It's not Amazing anymore, it's Superior.

I think you knew what he meant.
Look, (some) fanboys are going to be pissed about this, as they are wont to do. I don't think that they'll be convinced, coerced, or cajoled into feeling otherwise. And that's okay.
EDIT: Likewise, some folks are going to pick this up, continuity or fanboy outrage be damned, and judge it on the merits of the story (which, it should be said, is an entirely relative to the reader in question). They may even dig it. And y'know, that's okay, too.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
Based entirely on your guess of what's going to happen in the future, which seems pretty unlikely to me.
So you're saying that Marvel's committing fraud with it's solicitations?

That was clearly back-tracking to try and quell the negative publicity Marvel was receiving for the story. Check the art for the original story; it's clear they did more than that.
BND-era was written by the "Spidey Brain Trust" under Whacker which primarily consisted of Slott, Joe Kelly, Van Lente, and Waid. It was a collaborative book with the same editor.

read it......really liked it. It's a different spin. I like (love seems strong) Peter Parker as much as anyone, but this could be fun.
I like redemption stories, this could be a great one. And for the record I despise creators that throw away continuity and history (BENDIS) in the interest of "new and shocking", but this feels different.
And the comparison to Charles Manson as Jesus? Really? REALLY? Hyperbole on the internet is like lack of talent on the radio these days, but this one almost goes to the realm of pity....
It is not. Yes, Ock's body is failing, but instead of continuing to fight, Parker makes Ock "remember" Parker's life, extracts a promise (from someone who just tried to burn the world) from Ock that he'll be good and dies.
I still say you are misreading that scene.
Parker didn't just give up. Ock's body wasn't just failing. It was done. Parker realized there was nothing he could do about it any longer. He had already willed it far beyond its natural limits. Acknowledging reality doesn't equate to giving up. Parker recognized the difference between a slim chance of success and absolutely no chance of success.
For me to buy your argument, I would have to believe that Parker could have just willed the body to go on and on and on with no limit.
The way I read that comic, Parker never gave up. Once he realized the body was dead, and dying beyond any amount of willpower to go on, he made a final exertion to push as much of his own heroism into Ock's brain.
That doesn't count as giving up in my book, and it results in something a lot more heroic than collapsing in the middle of a punch that couldn't possibly result in anything useful. What Parker did in his last moments has the potential to make this disaster a lot less terrible than it could be. Whether or not it works, or course, remains to be seen.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
Can we lay off the rape stuff yo? There has been no rape nore will there be any rape in a spiderman book and they sure wouldn't let the character spiderman rape anyone. Rape isn't a word to just throw around. If you knew anyone who'd actually been raped, you'd be using a different word.
If MJ sleeps with Oc because she thinks he is Peter, that is rape.
Seriously folks, this is gonna be about as temporary as it gets, IMO. All I can say is that...well...at least you don't have Loeb writing your favorite book.
Yep, that there's Wendi-Hulk. Boy howdy.
Anyhow, y'all should read Indestructible Hulk until this blows over. It's fun!
Okay...that "Wendihulks in Vegas" was a cool story, with Arthur Adams art, featured Moon Knight and lasted all of two issues.
Ms. Marvel was in it too (drawn very cute) and The Sentry was written in a way that didn't piss me off.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Sentry and Moon Knight sharing the same therapist was amusing.
the moral of this this story, kids, is "different ####ing strokes for different ####ing folks."
I can see how long-term Spidey fans would be pissed, but if you are, in fact, "Long term" you know this will last a year at most before the PP status quo is restored.
Remember, the only people who stay dead in comics are Bucky and Uncle Ben...wait...sorry, just Uncle Ben.
Honestly though, remember when they killed Captain America off for the 4th time [or was it 5th? I lost count]? And replaced him with Bucky? That didn't last long. Then Bucky-Cap died! For... 2 months. Oh and the Human Torch died for the 2nd time? He came back a year later just in time for the FF's 50th Anniversary.
Given that, I don't understand the rage people have, considering we can all confidently say Peter Parker will be back as Spider-Man. It's just a matter of when.
I run HeroClix tournaments at Shuffle and Cut in La Habra, California. The format of each tournament will be posted here.

While I agree that Pete will be back the marriage didn't return. Things don't always go back to the status quo.
"And I shall make little coins with my head on them and place them in the thongs of your strippers."
Marvel pissed all over Peter Parker. Yet again. Glad that I am not reading this BS. Nuff said.

As a total aside, after seeing some scans... is there a particular REASON the artist is drawing Peter Parktavius like he's Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2?
Really, that creepy bit with MJ he looks like a dead ringer. Eew.
