I don't know what makes people think that HSS now works with EE or RCE.
HSS still reads : "This character may as a free action make one close combat or ranged combat attack"
EE : "When this character is given a close combat action..."
And RCE : "Give this character a power action. It makes a ranged combat attack..."
So no RCE with EE either. It can now bump the attack but the rules are the same.
I don't know why you thought I was implying HSS and RCE are compatible...
I was just pointing out high-damage figures with low/er AVs. I like that RCE allows you to split your stat bump and give you a better chance to hit, while (in the case of these two) still packing a good punch.
My H/W link does not reflect the wants for my collection, it is a list of figures that I already have, but still "want" to play.
Here's another example. His back-half is not longer offensively useless! Assuming his base 3 and 4 damage is enough to make an impact.

Any figure that opens up with Energy Explosion got a major boost in usability. Rewording the EE effect to something similar to that of the old Dr. Doom Special Power from the Fantastic Four Starter is going to shake the meta up a lot. Even the Purifiers are more useful now
