tonight at the comic shop I saw a darn near holy grail of comic book history.

A few weeks ago a guy brought in several pages of pencilled pre-production artwork from early Marvel comics. Human torch #6, 8 some early Submariner, etc. All from 1941-1943 timeframe.

They had been in a large, newer cookbook the guy bought at an estate sale. Not sure how long the artwork was in the book, but suffice to say the book was just being used to keep the papers flat. It appears the artists Pfeufer, maybe Sahle, probably both. Some of the absolute earliest covers and splash pages that the Human torch and Namor were ever on.
