I'm not saying you guys are wrong, I think we're arguing different points. I also would have held an event regardless of ROC.
I believe in the ROC as a brand. My hope is that these events take off and become the premier Heroclix events nationwide. It makes me more excited for the game's continued existance and my part in it.

Howard - can you explain further what the point cards are though? They were't explained very well, actually the explanation above is extremely vague. Will you be giving everyone an exact breakdown of what the points are worth on the website?
Are the "prizes" that can be bought using those cards just what we can find for sale by the various sellers on there? Playing for credit towards items being sold on a 3rd party website by vendors, like the one that starts with Strike, really doesn't seem too great to me. Unless you are telling me 10 points in cards is worth $100 credit on their site.
You tell us that cards are explained in the OP, but that's really vague. It would be really beneficial to give us an exact breakdown on what a card is, what it can be used to buy on the tgp website, and exactly how much they are worth in tgp credit.
None of that information has been provided, and I would assume that you and tgp have those details worked out already. How much tgp credit is 10 points worth?
Maybe this will help. Its from another thread. If you need more info than that let me know.

TCGPlayer.com is currently setting up its website to handle ROC as well. They will have a list of prizes that may be redeemed with earned points. They are already doing this for Magic. The prizes that will be available will be Heroclix related just like the Magic prizes are Magic related. In other words Magic points will not purchase Heroclix prizes and vice versa.

All kits will be ordered through TCGPlayer.com so they will have a list of all participating stores. They have a database that allows a search to find stores running their events so you will be able to do a query for ROC events. We will have that same link and query on a ROC page so all you will have to do is go there and click the link.
Tournaments begin December 7. Kits need to be ordered in advance to allow for shipping to the venue.

Points are given at events via a Points card. I will most likely have a sample of one posted in the prize section tomorrow. We have one completed but had to so a slight edit. There will be five point cards of different values. There is no database keeping up with each players points. The cards are that players to do with as he pleases. He can use them for the ROC 15k championship, redeem them for prizes, trade them, sell them, or give them away.

These are very similar to the prizes we already had and these are coming from both Realms and TCGPlayer.com. We personally pick out the prizes and approve them. When a venue orders a kit now it gets sent to them with everything they need in the box. We did away with Travel vouchers and badges because they were not being fully utilized. We replaced T-shirts with hats so the players could have them in hand with no size requirements. Plus I think they are cool! The other stuff are things we already had or created. I am particularly stoked about the maps. There may even be stuff coming that isn't mentioned yet. (hint hint) We are subject to add in more stuff at anytime. Especially if we have a lot of tournaments. So start playing!
TCGPlayer.com does indeed sell Heroclix and a lot of other stuff. What is nice about the gift certificate is that it can be used at the online store to purchase anything.
Yes where we originally were and we were each month all the way until now is quite different. I think we ended at a good spot.
Our Realms ROC webpage when we get through with it btw will be super cool. I will be posting something about it most likely tomorrow on the page itself.
So do I bud...that's why I am going to help them with their events and point them in the right direction. It is also another reason we have you on our ROC board now, so you can help those venues be successful. Who better at that than Thanosstar!!!!
Talk about pressure

Yea this still doesn't answer the question of what the points are worth.
Do you have a time frame of when you will be able to tell us what the point system actually is?
I'm really not trying to be a dink, I just can't believe you don't have that information ironed out yet. Or can you not tell us yet? Or do you just not want to tell us?
I simply want to know what the exact value of these points that you can win are.
Or do venues just tell their players "You can try and win 10 points for tgplayer. We aren't sure what they are really worth, or what you can buy with them, but you should really come pay to play at our tourney."
That post was from the thread titled ROC 2014 that you started. Where someone asked what other prizes you get in the $1,000 kit and that was your reply. I sugest you read through the entire thread.
Ahh I see. I was showing someone what we had given out in 2013 alluding that we would have something similar. Yup we thought based on promises and a relationship that we would get something similar but toned down. It was also at a time when I really didn't anticipate more than 20 Regionals which are now Super Qualifiers...the whole program changed at Gen Con. BTW all applicants were informed when this occurred by me by phone.

You are going to have to wait for TCGPlayer to post that on their site. It will be posted in plenty of time for you to peruse prior to any tournament. I will also try to get someone from TCGPlayer.com to answer this directly here in the forum.
First, the points already serve a purpose right from the get go, as they are the way for you to gain entry to the $15,000.00 Championship. They are also tradeable etc and can be pooled together between players to help make sure you and your friends can attend the event. And I also will point out that the points themselves have been seen quite a bit on sites like eBay and CraigsList etc as people try to finish off their remaining points needed to attend events. So in regards to the "value" each point is worth, that is up to you and the community to decide.
That being said, we are also announcing a redemption system for those that do not wish to attend the championship, trade the tokens to their friends, or list them elsewhere. This announcement was made about 1 week ago on our Magic site and all of the tokens for any of the event series are usable for this upcoming promotion:
So in closing, we have not finalized what the exact turnin requirements are for redemption items just yet nor the finalized items you can turnin for, that will be coming at a later date. But it does mean that you have quite a few options for using the point cards even if you do not wish to attend.

Now, concerning the "lack of" Heroclix items in our online store. I can assure you that this is a very temporary situation. We have been working extremely hard behind the scenes to completely redo our Heroclix store section.
Once completed you will see many of the internets largest sellers listed for each figure as well as the entire system being open to the public. To get an idea of what we envision for Heroclix, just look at a basic magic card within our store and you will see hundreds of sellers listed for each item:
So I believe you will see the cheapest prices online for Heroclix, the best shopping experience, and as such a great value for your earned store credit.
Ok, so I talked to Howard and had some time to digest the new information. I have some thoughts on everything. For one I'm surprised Wizkids didn't see the long term effects an event like this can have for the game. Anything that helps the game grow help Wizkids make money. Hopefully they come around.
TCGPlayer addressed their site as far as Wizkids rewards go. For them I see this helping their site grow and become the go-to place for Clix. Something I think they wanted to do with the original partnership of them and Realms. With these rewards though I think their site will grow a lot and hopefully they make it something that will truly impress.
Howard said the 200-650 kit having the same amount of maps was a typo. I'm glad and I hope the 650 kit gets a whole lot of maps as they are the #1 draw (at this time)
Now, the big thing, the ROC point system. Read this again...

Think about this for a second. Heat 3 is the finals. 4 round swiss, top 16 play it out, and you have your champion who gets their $4,000. For 200 points you almost guarantee yourself at least $100. You just need to get these points. Points you can buy, sell, or trade. Think of how huge this is. Because a shot to skip the BS and go to the finals is huge. These points are going to be worth some good money. Not a lot. Maybe $2 for every one point. But still, that would be $400 for the 200 points.

Historically speaking, WK has never wanted to be associated with money tourneys. They feel (and I agree) that it drives the wrong kind of "behavior". Things like fellowship are always on the losing end when $15K is on the line.

That's fine for peeps that want to go to DragonCon and play in this type of event. Most won't be able to make the con. Of those that do, there's a faction that don't like these types of events regardless of what the prize might be.

Maybe, maybe not. But look at the tourney structure. A league event is $100 to the store. The winner gets 10 points. Even IF they're worth $2 each, that's a whopping $20 for a win. Not a great trade off (especially considering that it'll probably be a sealed event). A qualifier doesn't do you much better. Even a super qualifier isn't a great deal... $200 if you win. But it's likely going to cost you entry fees, gas, possibly hotel, food, etc. You would get a set of dice and a hat however. Winning a cool con LE that you don't have or factory set, that's something different entirely though. It feels different when you can hold that in your hands and look at it on your shelf and use it in a team you play later.
