Yeah, I just don't know about that whole changing avatar business. You having Gene-Teal Zod was one of the consistent things about my Realms experience.
Yeah, really. I don't even reckognize RP's posts any more. It's like they're being posted by a completely different person. Bring back the General.

I feel as if a major crisis has been avoided today.
Indeed. It was a Crisis of Infinite Zods.

Hey, at least it was something *shrug* It needed to appeal to the masses, AND try and have a philosphical bent to it. Is the complaint that it wasn't high-brow enough?
I think the complaint, at least from my direction, is that it appealed to the mass of Christian viewers.
After the first movie, churches all over were whipped up in a frenzy over the religious allegory, like it was Christmas or something. The two sequels felt like they were made to appeal directly to that crowd. I didn't really want to watch a Sci-Fi Passion of the Christ, and let's be honest, "heavy-handed" as Fredwood puts it, is being pretty nice about it.
Lost, for all its haters and legitimate problems, was pretty deep Sci-Fi. Same with Battlestar Galactica. Matrix, on the other hand, was pretty much, "Neo is Jesus" with a reminder every 5 seconds that the allegory exists.

The first movie does a pretty good job playing with the nature of consciousness, though. I mean, Mr. Anderson keeping his stash in a hollowed out copy of Simulation and Simulacra is a bit on the nose, but I thought it was a fun take on a late-night dorm room conversation (but with explosions). I enjoyed all three of the films (to varying degrees, and for different reasons), and you've gotta admit - for all the unsubtle allegory, the set-piece action sequences are pretty outstanding. Given that Michael Bay continues to push the boundaries of dumb, loud sci-fi, I actually get a little nostalgiac for sci-fi movies that might actually make someone, somewhere go pick up a book.

Unfortunately, the action sequences were the only things I liked, and really, only in the first and second movies. The third movie left a lot to be desired in that area, and the ending was a pretty good example of why a live-action DBZ movie will never be any good at all.

See, and I can't seem to stick with 1 avatar for any significant period of time.
I just remember one April Fool's Day I swapped my avatar with JackA. Everyone got so confused.
Now that I'm a Bronze member, I sometimes can't help but look for a new avatar. Everyone that talks to me fairly regularly associates me with Dr. Doom anyways, so changing Doom's style probably doesn't present too much of an issue.
Oh that was frickin awesome beyond words. Drove Judas Priest right out of my head!!!! LOL!!!
