So...is this about the prestige or the prizing for most players?
In any case, I just wouldn't show up if I didn't find it worth my while to do so. Seems to be a matter of "What is a day of playing against new players and honing skills for Nationals worth to you?"
It is either, neither, or both, depending on the individual player. I am more interested in the prizes, so I am letting them (The ROC board) what it would take to bring me in as a player.
In all fairness you guys had an event in the panhandle last year that a lot of us Southern Florida guys couldn't make for the same reason.
I'm just surprised a place in Orlando didn't make the cut, OR submit an application........ That would have been the happy medium for all of us through out the state.
Melbourne isn't that far from Orlando. It's closer to you South Florida guys.
Orlando / Central Florida venues are:
Coliseum of Comics - 3 venues, really - mayhaps 4. A chain that has a weird ordering system where 1 person does the order for the chain. A lot of communication is in order that isn't always as reliable as it should be.
Coolstuff - 2 venues. Mostly card games. Judges would rather play on that kind of event. Can't shut down store when card games fill the space.
House Rules Gaming - 1 relatively new store. I don't think it's big enough and the cash lay-out might be tough.
I'll likely make the drive to Melbourne again in June. Hopefully more players show up. 51 did last time - might also be the reason they got dibs...
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
