Especially after becoming King of the Dead which - based on mine and Mal's claims - would mean this is definitely after AvX.

(Plus Hulk running around as Banner would mean more recent issues as opposed to the Original Avengers version where he always stayed in Hulk mode.)

I was thinking that or a Misdirect being it appeared to sidetrack the man from his purpose. More likely a block. It's the mention of his vanity that has me puzzled. Sure, Simon is vain but I don't think of blue as "dark-skinned". Triathlon had a chip on his shoulder and some ego but, again, not really vain.
Clint would stop but he's not dark skinned.

Maybe it was a villain? Count Nefaria is definitely vain and being southern Italian he could qualify as "darker than most Caucasian" and has been drawn as such (that sounds weird but looking at certain members of my family or someone like Vince Lombardi...)

Hickman's run kept Shuri as regent of Wakanda, but gave T'Challa some kind of connection to his ancestors realm of the dead, so he can still be a king.

And Wonder Man's blue was a really dark blue-purple. I feel like hellsmurf wouldn't use the term 'dark-skinned' to describe an ethnicity, but rather something more metahuman.
