I spent last night neck deep just waiting on the friggin' Install time. The videos are nice...once. After that, wish they'd added in info-videos on other topics to break the repetition of hours of S.P.E.C.I.A.L. .

I didn't vote for JoH. He voted for me out of "anger" that I called his early play a cloak of innocuousness.

If I put a serious vote on someone it would be gfish or Mags for their ability to last until late game. That or Ice because his reaction gives you a feel for where he fell.

This is a bit of a weirder game than normal vanilla, as its purely meta with the fear of night powers. I am flattered that people think I'm a good lynch candidate. At this point I would be okay with me being lynched if it helps the town. I really don't want to waste investigative powers on me.

I have a good town power, though, so it will be a waste.

Ha! Everyone fits into my cross-section theory. With one or two mafia dead, my theory becomes useful if true. With no mafia dead, my theory is equally applicable to everyone. It was kind-of the joke that I mentioned in the vote on Rokk.

I bought the download edition on Saturday so I could pre-install and was able to launch it right at 9pm PST on Monday... yeah I was a bit excited.

Its funny: I would not vote for Linkor or Mags. Linkor always gets the short end of the stick during day phases, so I would tend to leave him alone for once so he can enjoy the game. I would tend to leave Mags alone because I want him to participate after being gone for a while.

Both reasons would make them good mafia candidates, admittedly.

On that note, Mags should probably sign up for my new game.....

Lynch gfish in seriousness (and nothing to do with his failure to understand I'm a bad draft candidate for same reason I'm a bad early Cult recruit).

His comment about having a really great Town power so bummer if we lose it... It smacks of someone saying "I'm uber-important so you don't want to lose me" or Bomb Role threats. It was just "randomly" tossed in there as an almost subliminal persuasion attempt to make him "very Towny".

If I was the don, i think my drafting would have looked like:

Silver Lantern
Jackofhearts
Iceman
CaptainNifty

I'd be looking for players that will lead lynches and that also won't object to being recruited as mafia. And obviously, you can't be too obvious.

Shoooooot. I'm still not done with Fallout 1.

Is the end of the thought "they're useful to the mafia for being able to do so and could have been recruited for that reason" or am I taking this line of questioning in the wrong direction?




Let's get some more "I would draft so and so" posts out here. Get people talking at the least. Could stumble across a good theory or the mafia trying to fudge the lists to avoid them being on it.

How about this:

1. I started out the phase with the second post offering information and an approach to day 1 hat we have adapted, mainly by stating who I would expect to be mafia based on a draft system. While this is an obvious approach, I was the first to use it which does tend to establish my towniness. My posts are obviously scum-hunting.

2. I actually stated that I thought Rokk was a bad mafia choice, but a great mafia candidate. I tend to think that a newer player would want Rokk, who is extremely outspoken, while a veteran player would want to grab a cross section.

3. I have provided a theory frame-work that, whether right or wrong, helps the conversation. I think that speaks to my towniness.

I would like this too from the quieter players.

I actually am feeling townie on gfish. His play is at least fairly consistent with MSU's vanilla game.

Vote colonialbob , because I think he's a great mafia sleeper pick. He's one of the newest players in this game, yet he has great instincts and generally sound logic, and I think most of the players have recognized that. But because he's newer, he's less likely to be meta-targeted early on for night attention.

I really wouldn't want to chose rokk or ice if I was Don.. Both have the tendency to be targeted early and often. I am honored that a few think I am a good draftee. I wasn't but it's a nice thought. Mags, and joh are who I would draft..

I'm not sure I've been around enough (or had enough experience as scum) to have a great analysis of who I'd draft, but I do know one thing: I'd want to have somebody who is very vocal and can lead day phases. In this game I think the best fits for that role are (in player-list order) JoH, Darq, Gfish, and Rokk. I'd want to make sure I had at least one of them.

I'd also probably go for the meaty middle... after all, Mags, Linkor, and myself have been mentioned as people who would fly under the radar... meanwhile some pretty strong players like Rorsch, Roy, and Nifty have been barely mentioned at all. Seems like pretty decent meta strategy would've been listing who is most likely to attract attention, who is least likely, and then picking players who are on neither list.

(This strategy actually reminds me of something I read about the computer RoShamBo (aka rock paper scissors) championship, where the first winner used a meta-strategy to determine what to throw. I can find the article and link it, if anybody else has any interest in that kind of thing)

Technically, neither am I but I've only got access to F4 right now.

I guess being my earlier comments had already stated that, yeah, the unstated portion of that thought is "and so I would vote for them because I think there's a high chance at least one was drafted for that utility. Probably gfish as Mags tends to panic attack about strategies."
