I like that he is all offense, but opponents are punished when they hit him.
He doesn't let up.
what I love about ra is that his deck is no-nonsense. he just lays on the hurt. sure, sure, he's got a few cards in his deck that sets things up but they almost all dmg or set up more dmg, so I gave him a no-nonsense dial to reflect his purpose into clix. using the staff for integrated boosts to his stats also let me stretch out that impact on the map with just raw power
after all, you can't spell raw without ra

His later dial Super-Mystics is a nifty addition, especially if you've been wearing away at your enemies and their victory over the mighty Ra becomes decidedly Pyrrhic!
yeah the staff in game that he can summon or toss *cough*thorexpy*cough*. it gives him a dmg boost and when he equips it he heals good bit, incentivizing you literally throwing away the dmg boost to be able to equip again. that encouraged me to go full-on equipment mechanic with him and take those elements from the card and just adapt them into clix, and encourage you to do the same, throw the staff and since only friendlies can equip it again, go snag it up to heal some more.
at the vet level he gets to get it rather easily, summoning it from off-board but if he starts exp, he'll have to pay for it separate, or do without it.
his inherent power pyre, is just a basic fire attack, so I figured translating that into clix as an attack bonus will further enable his range mastery and not come off as a redundant effect.
one thing i'm not sure if folk have noticed or not, is that there isn't a preponderance of penetrating dmg in this set. since there's a clear version of that in sotm (irreducible dmg) I only opt for penetrating dmg when it represents a card with that effect, or as in the case with ra (and tachyon) a card that simply enables you to "defeat a target with X or fewer hp" kind of thing. that means reducers are more effective in-set and penetrating dmg more special
Hmm, his dial is not what I would expect from his illustration. With almost a full dial of Steal Energy and some decent reducers he should hang tough for a good while and combining it with Mystics could make him really annoying!
I think I like him best at 75, but I always like starting out with Leadership. A little back dial Prob Control should come as a surprise to your opponents and buy him more time on the field.
So with that real name does that make him a "Rhodes Scholar".
ha! rhodes scholar . yeah he's an odd bird. he uses the philosopher stone to transmute his body into a variety of forms, he can tank like nobody's business and/or have tons of healing. he can dish out some burst or aoe dmg depending on your draw and he has just tons of deck support. he's a jack of all trades type that can fill lots of roles and he's mainly this Hawaiian shirt wearing bathrobe and slippers guy hermiting himself out in a florida swamp . he's got no costume at all, he just shows up and takes care of plot
I've once again allowed my preferred playstyle of his deck to influence how I've designed his dial, but I've tried to affect different playstyles with the starting lines, getting increasingly more supporty down the dial. here's another attempt at providing more play value with a beefier starting line with steal energy falling on the cheaper two starting lines. between his self-heal and energy steal combined with reducers and mystics ta you've got a good amount of frustration for your opponent.

Great take. I was a bit surprised at the consistent 3 damage. Consistently doing decent damage with Scholar is hard if you are also trying to tank (since you have to so carefully manage your hand to keep the elementals in play).
I love this dial and would try to play it on as many builds as I could.

I'm not a big Guise fan, but this dial looks very fun.
Probably not one I would play often, but definitely worth experimenting with (that's how I feel about the deck anyway).

Like the pick a power trait. Nice balance from the power action that doesn't give an action token. Small touch, but so elevates the dial so much. Master stroke of design.
Pride and prejudice is such a cool power. Limiting it to the 1st and last clicks keeps it was being OP.

You knew I'd love this design. The give and take of his powerset makes me giddy. Absolutely love the PC / Mastermind power. The stop clicks are nicely placed. I especially love the first one, with it's plasticity and low attack value.
Out of the gate, the first trait has me laughing. I love the idea of him healing his buddy on one side while punching a baddy on the other. Tool box is a wonderful power in how it gives a focus to light objects as impromptu weapons. Giving them a 50/50 chance of hanging around helps to keep the power relevant.
That all said, it the damage special power that puts this guy over the top. It combos with the attack SP so well and, if that wasn't enough, you got some flurry on top of it. I love the 1/3 chance of FOUR ATTACKS!
Good to see such a fun character not getting the shaft.*
thanks, man. as a sentinels fan, i'm glad these are representing for you

I can't take any credit, really. everything about the mechanics of this card screams ps. joe king (yes, that happened ) is very much the plastic man/ambush bug of the sentinels. he's got a touch of cosmic power that enables him to moderately shapeshift into variations of his appearance (his chest symbol is different each time) and then, like, do stuff ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
he's got some copycat cards in his deck so I tried to play off those in a fun way and spaced them out as bookends as you said. that could lead to some very interesting effects if he swipes some gear then heals up higher on his dial.
between all those shenanigans and the ed perplex (depending on how you choose to employ it) I felt reigning him in with consistent 2s was the way to go (he does fairly light dmg in the card game, too).

once you've got 1 or two "flesh to iron"s in play, I spam the truth seeker power and am sure to play any cards with extra draw to get consistent dmg and the extra card draws he needs to fuel his forms. it works for me, at least. I've never really played him focusing on his other forms, only recently experimenting with it, tbh, so i'm sure there's a myriad of ways to design his dial based on the same deck

I can get that, there're times when it feels like he can't do much. I always hold onto "guise the barbarian" until I can play it and "blatant reference" into play and really lay it out.
because "look what I found" has him walloping wagermaster with the keyword tag from the card itself, I figured him snagging special tokens off of cards to "grab a light object" to smack someone with. plus it'd have extra meta appeal as a rare way to strip characters dependent upon vengeance tokens and speedforce tokens and promotion tokens and fill-in-the-blank tokens, stifling their momentum
tough choices was, well, tough to translate into the game. so I opted for the perplex befitting his nature and powerset and then the him-or-them choice to fit it to the flavor text

expatriette's (I have the hardest time spelling her name right) deck is full of different weapons and trick ammo (shock rounds, liquid nitrogen rounds, etc). so she's essentially the green arrow archetype, but with guns. so to affect the ammo, I loaded it into her which deck-wise is intended to help you gear up your guns. making it a power-action-but-remove-a-token was my way to let you do it with out it being free (seems op) or costed, in effect. so yeah, it burns up your turn, but she's ready to fire next turn. especially great if she gets taxied after
pride & prejudice are the nicknames for her custom handguns and they're another cheat on this design. the free pot shots are actually the effect of her "hairtrigger reflexes" (seen on dial as enhancement) but I folded them into her pistols to give them the added effect they needed to further distinguish them from her other guns and because the art for the card shows her using pride & prejudice to get the job done

he's such a whacky dude. his power is unluck but unlike black cat it affects him . so there's tons of wild things going on through his deck with plenty of give and take of its own (so much so that in-cannon no one likes to work with him other than his girlfriend expatriette). I mean, he's got a die with the 1 showing for his chest symbol
trying to capture that with his risk was an attempt to show fortune working against him (but in favor of your ally) and made for a cool way to let him "taunt." meanwhile, the other side of that coin, tokening an adjacent whenever he misses is to show how his luck can turn on those around him
the sp has some meta potential as the ability to remove less-than-advantageous powers from allies at times or to shut down a whole team's key defense or support package if they're overloaded in one way at the cost of scuttling an ally
glad you like the stopclix. the ttpc pool thing was an unconventional add. they played around with effects messing with ttpc way back in catws and seemed to have dropped it since, so I thought i'd dip back into that arena. but that third click stop and tieup was meant to be a fortunate trap of sorts and punish your opponent for tangling with pete and getting sucked into his sucky luck proximity

*bit-of-a-stretch-pun
I had hoped you'd like this guy given your affinity for martial artists. I kept his dmg low because of his focus on peppering (sometimes many) foes with quick strikes and using the tools of the trade to ply his fighting skills. his deck is full of mops, wrenches and crowbars that he uses to whack opponents in differing ways so using the toolbox card (which helps him to get a weapon from his deck) as the centerpiece for object interaction let me emphasize overlooked light objects and use the new rules to show him getting the most out of his environment, especially when he gets onto click #2
yeah, there's a sophie's choice there? use the weapon or flurry? and with the ability to double up he's got a 1/3 chance of either punching a whole bunch or hitting harder and more accurately (almost a cce, there). and hey, you get to mix and match your choices if you want
I love the idea of a sculpt of an old guy with a broom on his shoulder showing up on a map to the snickering of many until he sweeps away the competition
I see your pun, and raise you a dad-joke level groaner ;p

Santa Guise is always fun to play, handing out actions is a great translation of Gift-mas Time!
thank you , sir.
I figured santa guise would make a fun variant to use as a prime. and as sr prime, it should be potent, but character-selection should not be someone we miss out on by rarity.
I went bare-bones support, because I know when I play the deck with the variant I don't get much of anything out of his own card plays, it's all about the whacky way he sets up extra card play for his allies so he's set up for setting up allies. the helps him to keep feeding his to keep allies going and the action total +1 lets his power action not count against the team's efforts to get to keep going but like expatriette's give and take still make it count inherently as pure free seems too much, even for a sr prime.
the santa guise of santa guise also lets his flavor text operate in new light as the otherwise non-Christmas themed sc and plasticity cards sound to be more about this particular outfit and what he'd be up to in it. super ultra kawaii remains as rando as it is in the deck, however
Changing it so that you are only damaged on a 1-2 instead of a 1-4 is what makes it so much better than x-men/titans TAs
huh. super weird. I thought I had copied the text from the website but I must've typoed it or something. I've changed it to be more consistent with the existent TAs. I want it to be an homage not a better version. my bad. thanks for pointing it out
