OMG, a real partisan!! VTOLs, meet your "maker" hahahhaha!!
Ok, the scuplt looks good , the stats even better. We finally get an AA vehicle with 2 extra-large guns compared to the budget-cheapo AA vehicle which is the Partisan AA vehicle in FFE.
One thing I noticed is that this unit will be prone to abuse. I mean, this thing is better than the SMI, slightly more expansive ,better defence , has armor , good range , high attack and no minimum range!!! speed is irrelevant as we can always "tank drop" it.
Anyway , kudos to Wizkids for making a powerful (and might be broken) and awesome looking AA vehicle. I wonder if Wizkids will spoil the party later when they introduced the ICE mech :)
Wizzies is continuing the time honored tradition of collectible games. Forcing you to continuing buying if you want to compete. This game would get old if you didn't need to get new stuff. This should tone down VTOLs. And the figure looks nice to.
well there s always ebay (some of my players stopped buying boosters and buy single figures they need instead of getting 80% they dont need) in a way i cant blame em (me as a collector though buys a case per set)
This looks interesting. I totally concur with irishrogue about the logic behind it - force you to get powerful stuff, money rolls in.
That said, it's about time anti-vtol units actually showed some anti-vtol muscle. I do think 5 damage for something that costs 50ish points is way too much, but I also suspect that these guys will have 2+ minimum ranges. Even without min ranges, lack of 360 degree arc means fast harassers will do them in. Lots of choices in fielding, and fighting against, these units - and choice is always a good thing in collectible games.
I'm almost certain the SS one will have 9 attack, and probably be the best one of the bunch. The BR one will probably be a close second. 9 Attack and 4 or 5 damage, with double range against Vtols, means we'll see a lot of these popping out of transports.
Vtols won't get obsolete, they'll just get fielded in armies that also include fast/infiltrating harassers. That's the beauty of it - rock, papper, scissors. Bam.
Mmmmmm, Michaelson Heavy Industries tank. Very cool. Who better to make an Anti-VTOL vehicle then MHI. Now i just hope to get some more MHI VTOL's as well...
That movement always comes in handy when your opponent decides to hurl some artillery shell towards your strategically placed MHI Defense AA tank.
And since 'Mech-based close combat will remain a part of the game, why not allow 'Mechs with jump jets to jettison and literally crash into VTOLs? Doesn't make much sense, but that hasn't stopped this game before.

Well, you're right about the 360-degree firing arc, to be sure, though with any luck these things will be able to knock down the VTOL before it bases them. But, about the 2+ minimum... well, all we know so far is that the bannson's version has a 0/12 range on the base (you can see it in the preview on the WK site  )
But anyway... this, in combination with (the hopefully soon officially recognized) proposed artillery rules, will likely mean that people won't have so much trouble with other players running multiple artillery and VTOLs. :) This finally brings balance to the table.
Originally posted by Rottgutt Well, so much for the theory that there will be two Elite units in this set -- looks like we're getting 2 Vetran units like we did in Liao.
If this tank ends up having no minium range, we'll probably be seeing alot of them.
These look to be good AA units, making the Partisans second string. Especially with the new 450/3 proposed rules. Allows formations of 3 tanks: DI Schmitt, Danai, and MHI AA. Heavy hitter, arty, and AA. Throw a J-37 in base behind the three and you've got an expensive, but possibly effective formation.
I worry about these as tank-drop fodder though...
