If you hit the Kodiak for 3 damage (SS Balac), he becomes a DESTROYER OF WORLDS! (woo!)
If you hit him for 4 damage (DF Tank Destroyer or two Padilla Artys), he becomes a more powerful Caden Senn! (uh...yay!)
If you hit him for 5 damage (Arnis or DI Schmitt), he becomes...Meghann Tenclay, basically. (:rolleyes:)
The Kodiak doesn't seem so undercosted to me, especially when you factor in the cost of the repair vehicle he'll be needing for maximum efficacy.
Personally, I'd love to see a Wolf Mech with a "sweet spot" that's exactly five clicks down the dial. It could be an LE, and the dossier would say something about how the pilot was slow to anger. ;p
Originally posted by TenExs The Realms list this unit as #123. That means that there is something bigger and better (?) at number #124. Do you think that will be the Marauder? Wow, I cannot imagine something more powerful than this beast!
DF Marauder is supposedly #124 & 326 pt, it should be a lovely addition to DF

Originally posted by Nynax As for rapid strike, you can do two damage against agility mechs instead of one! So, if a mech has agility, evade, and reactive armor/decoy or something (so you would not just plain old shoot it), the RS comes in handy.
Kind of.
Do note the So, if a mech has agility, evade, and reactive armor/decoy or something (so you would not just plain old shoot it), the RS comes in handy. part. If it is too hard to hit with ranged for some reason, RS will let you do more damage with a close combat attack than using your prime. I am well aware you can just shoot them.
Originally posted by pkreynolds Okay, since I play Steel Wolves as my main faction, I am all for this 'Mech... but there's something that bothers be about it.
Looking at its stats on that prime click - 11 attack, 24 defense, 6 damage - and it's ranged ability - 360 degree front arc, 14" range - and it's heat dial - first 3 clicks all clear - is anyone else wondering how this monster came in at almost 50 points less than most of the other big assault-class 'Mechs?
I think it's fair to say that this thing could beat Jonah Levin, so how is it cheaper???
Between this and the Raider "Mk II" I am not liking the feel of this new set.
I wanted it as soon as I saw the picture. I want it the same now. I know I can bring this bad boy up to its sweet spot. It shouldn't be to hard. let them shoot you with artillery. I want baddly

In a one-on-one duel, Jonah would RAPE the Kodiak. The reason why the Kodiak is cheaper is because he starts out with lousy stats, which is a pretty serious weakness.
Most other assaults do enough damage to put this Kodiak past its sweet spot, with a better chance of landing the first shot. They also have stats that drop much slower to ineffectiveness. In a 1-on-1 duel, any of the 300-ish assaults would devastate this 'Mech. Now, I will admit that Bekker can easily wipe the floor with other Wolf 'Mechs.
@Shim2k4
The DF Marauder II will not be no. 124. Draddog has confirmed this in the Q&A thread. It's going to be numbered as an LE, no idea which one though.
