FP is the WORST SET ever release or at least until the next one is released. WK has no QUALITY CONTROL!!! Wrong dials, misprinted dials, frozen dials, Wrong meck glued to the base, LE and uniques with no dossier, blank dossiers, Pieces broken, pieces so broken that is how they had to be put into the box because there was no damage to the box or other pieces. I had one piece broken into 7 pieces. Dials printed wrong, OK YEAH I BELIVE THAT YOU INTENDED MECHS TO HAVE 0/4 range as a primary quit hiding the fact that someone dropped the ball I HOPE YOU FIRED SOMEONE OVER THAT ONE. I went to the pre release and had a great time but I was so dissappointed in the pieces and quality control of the set I will not buy another booster unless I am playing in a sealed event. but why play I can get the LE in the booster. but Im not going to buy another booster. So am I done playing the game. No reason to compete. No reason to but the booster I know its going to be wrong or broken. If I wanted to glue my mechs together I would be playing battletech
thanks for encouraging tank drop again. This time it is going to be a defensive tank drop. Kelswa highlander and an average mech good luck hitting me.
And someone said something about pilots... yeah I have been talking about this idea. I even know how to do it. if people are interested in doing pilots let me know if I get enough responses I will post it. but pilots are a very interesting idea. I think that it would be a great twist... but players at the venue I play at all say that pilots are battletech not MW.

1) As many previous sets as possible were retired, but especially the base set (DF Schmitt) and FFE (DF Maxim, SS Balac)

Wrong. Last IndustrialMech. ICE BattleMechs are still possible (Raiders?)
As for last ICE machine being a plus, gimme a 70-80 point ICE pure IndustrialMech over a 4-6" range Stinger or 4" range Koshi anyday!
Too many remakes of the same ole sculpts. nothing really new. Sever lack of VTOLS. More stupid bikes with movement rates that put a mech to shame. worst Set yet.
I can't say that I'm really impressed with the new set, but I can't say that I'm completely disappointed either. Jade Falcon intrduces some very nice looking sculpts, and the appeal of the Kelswa Assault Tanks is undeniable. On the wole, the "Mech" issue seems to be the lack of their use due to their comparative stats with the other unit types. This is only further complicated by the low point value of tourneys that more or less gives incentive to players to leave their Mechs on the shelf.
The more serious issue with this release was related to SW or BR faction pure players who would have been severely handicapped if FFE had been allowed to be retired as was the original plan. Even still, the handicap was only lessened by keeping FFE. SW and BR players have no new units to add to their collection from FP. What handicaps one of us can only lessen the game for all of us. Nuff said about that.
I am sure that several solutions exist to give the game new life, but I can see no substantial enhancement of the game in this latest release. Mechs need to be a more influential part of the game.

I agree. I've seen some interesting ideas in this set, like units that can still fight after taking damage, interesting abilities that pop up later on in the dials, etc.
However, the high defense of artillery makes them too powerful.
Ranges of 0-4 on 'mechs are an ok backup weapon, but they needed more range, and especially some ballastic firepower to deal with infantry!
Defenses are way too low. Unless its a cheap, fast charge monkey like a Mjlonier, they need at least a starting defense of 18 for support 'mechs, and at least a starting defense of 20 for front-line 'mechs.
This set is really horrible for new players. Right now, most competitive armies require infiltrating ATV's and high quality VTOLS, and/or some kind of 3 capacity transport. None of these are available in the current release. Also, the color schemes are too similar for new players, HL look like Hl look like JF...
I don't much like repair mechs, I would rather have had field repair bays like in the MECHWARRIOR pc games.
I definitely don't like AP on infantry, anti-tank rifles went out in the early part of WWII.
Mech Pooh, as noted by others...
Some good artillery for players who can't find or afford the Arrow IV.
Two reasonable mechs that you don't have to win at a tournament, Doc and Kava.
One very good tank, HL KELSWA.
Some interesting, if expensive infantry.
New SE; which I doubt will be of much use whatever.
It may be possible to build a new competitive army using some of the infantry, 3 cap transports from older releases, the KELSWA and/or Paladin artillery pieces, and/or Kava/Doc. But I don't think we're seeing some entirely new playable metagame army here, For new players it is sad that you won't be able to put together an uber or near uber army from this release alone.
I want to qualify my negative statements above by adding that played just with the FAlcon's Prey units themselves the set seems pretty well balanced. Losing 3 cap vehicles, first striking infiltrators, VTOLS with a 9 attack, and artillery screening peasants makes for a more balanced game IMO. Makes me wonder if this is going to be the new "base set".....

......so APDS, HESH, and any sort of infantry-based anti-tank weapons (LAW, VLAW, TOW II, Karl Gustav, Dragon....)are completely discounted then, even though they are very much in use today. To say nothing of the Barret M82A1 rifle, capable of light anti-vehicle duties......
It's a reality. To imagine that the third millenium would have lighter, more efficient versions is only logical.
I'm surprised that we have yet to see short-range AA infantry.
Well I guess I am just re-hashing things that have already been said but FP is the worst expansion yet. Really only one great piece, that would be the HL Kelswa. Which when they announced the stats for it on the Envoy's home pages a few months back, I was already thinking that this was a game breaker. Cheesed-out a couple of armies with it. Anyone who pulls one in a FP marquee should have a great chance of winning.
Infantry is decent. But like has already been pointed out, do we really need more useful infantry? Or Artillery for that matter?
FP Mechs are just bad bad bad. The only reason I can think of why the stats for FP Mechs are soooo poor is that in the new rules there will be Pilot cards that will be usable with non-unique Mechs. Even saying that, the pilots would have to be very cheap. And very powerful! Guess we will be enlightened tomorrow eh?
As you point out, there are very good infantry portable anti-tank weapons. That's why we have towed autocannon and SRM teams already depicted in MWDA. But look at the Sniper teams. They are carrying RIFLES!!!!!, not Gustav's.
I do admit that I haven't reviewed the subject in awhile. Since you appear to have expertise in this area could you answer the question, "Are there currently any shoulder launched infantry anti-tank weapons that can pierce the frontal armor of an M1 Abrams MBT?" I'd be happy to be brought up to date.
