Take a look at this 600pt HK pure and give me some feedaback on how to play it. We don't have all the Kurita Mechs yet so here goes:
Yami Shiro
Kensin
Decoy
Crimson Hawk
Wahab
Pulse
Heavy tank
Raiden BA x2
Oni Ba (e)
600 pts total
lots of blocking to shoot through and jump over....
I know the formation and the tank isn't that hot but thats pretty much it for HK until the new set. My Son wants to play a HK pure 600 army in a few weeks
Played this the other day for Dragon eats its Tail
Shiro Yami w/ Kenshin and IT
Roku Sei-gi w/ JP Millhew and AnP
:^^^: Yasha
:^^: Raiden x2
:^^: Oni
FP +1 Damage
600 pts
Overall did pretty well. I totally forgot I had Wahab sitting around to pilot the Mech so I could've run Wahab and downgraded the Yasha to the :^^: and dropped the Raidens for 2 :^^^: Oni. I was thinking of changing the AnP.
Overall it did pretty well. the Roku only bought it in one game and the Shiroonly took one shot from a ROTS Kelswa in another(LIao-ROTS SA). The AnP or AP choice for the Roku was nice since I could threaten infantry formations or take on armored targets. The rest helsd up pretty well considering all the armor on the units. Arty was bouncing off for most of the games. Late game +1 damage is the best, when the attack value for the Yasha finally made it high enough to hit targets easily the +1 helped damage them.
Elite-Sword of Light Regiments
Veteran-Legions of Vega
Green-Benjamin Regulars
I have issues with the Vet and Green. Benjamin Regulars, according to the fiction, have been participating in raids against the RotS for almost a year now. That makes them more experienced than any RotS troops short of the Northwind Highlanders and Stone's Lament. ;)
Also, how can there be Legions of Vega when Vega is, at last check, deep in Republic terrotory until Dragon's Fury essentially became Deiron Regulars.
Any one that tries to argue for a different Elite Reg will be facing me in a Trial of Grievance.
The Legion of Vega existed prior to the Republic annexing Combine worlds. All the Combine did was not disband them. Presumably this is one of those instances referred to in Sword of Sedition where a nation state's declared disarming process was falsified.
The continued existence of the Legion of Vega shows the Combine never really gave up its claim of sovereignty, whatever Victor Steiner-Davion wanted to believe.
I think I'm converted. I am/was a House Davion fanatic, but I've been using an army that uses House Kurita Mechs and I haven't lost yet. Admittedly I used a different selection of infantry once and lost (using the same House Kurita Mechs), but the original army I used I haven't been beaten. Yet. And admittedly I've only played it for two weeks. But... Here it is...
'Yami' + Decoy + Aiko recruit to HK
'Okami' + Evade + Wahab
2 x JF Sylph Battle Armour
2 x SH Minigun Cycles
House Kurita Faction Pride +1 to damage
Cost 600
Terrain I've chosen in the past has been normally 1 piece hindering and 1 piece water. Obviously 'Yami' sits in the water and snipes, but both weeks had the July
Storyline which had the single B6 blocking terrain in the middle of the board.
I have moved both Sylphs behind the B6 (at NOE) and what's usually happened is my opponent has placed hindering and water terrain on his side of the board, but within Scoot n Shoot range of the Sylphs. Both times a failed Assault order on one of the Sylphs has put one of the enemy Mechs in range of 'Yami'. Once 'Yami' has hit the Mech once, I Scoot n Shoot the Sylphs and use Pulse, making the failed Assault order last Assault order that Mech can make.
'Okami' usually sits behind the blocking terrain, waiting for the opportunity to strike. I don't mind him taking a couple of small hits, or one bit hit and that brings on Rapid Strike down his dial. Once the opponents main Mech (or maybe secondary Mech) has been eliminated, it's down to 'Okami' to do some damage (with the higher attack value now that he's been hit) with 'Yami' following up when he's in range. If both the Sylphs haven't been elimiated (possibly pushed a bit too far), they can follow suit and wipe out the remaining units. Of course, it's usually 'Okami' that is my first or only casualty.
Why the 2 Stormhammer Minigun Cycles??? Cause I had 16 points to waste on units!!! I haven't used them yet!!!
I've had enoumous success with having Aiko & Decoy on 'Yami'. The extra 2 defense puts the pressure of having to actually having to hit 'Yami' and if it works the first time, they've got to do it again. Lots of fun!!!
"Yah I hit Yami"
"DECOY"
"#### YOU!!!"
Maybe once I get 'Kaminari' I'll try that with Aiko & Decoy...
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for the August senario? There will be no artillery (not that HK has any anyway) and no VTOLs allowed for this storyline. I will hopefully have a Kaminari with pilot and gear by then and get to try it out, though not sure if this would be the best HK mech to go with.
