Originally posted by jgklaw also, someone please answer my question about access points and "basing" - my understanding, per the Castle rules, is that any piece on the access point at the base would be in "base" with any piece on the platform for the purpose of making a close combat attack...did you guys mess this up? or am I forgetting or missing some ruling or errata?
No, we did not mess anything up. No you are not forgetting something. There are all sorts of new rule "jewels" in these reports ;).
Originally posted by jgklaw and still, nobody responds to my question about Anunub on the platform...any figure that moves to the access point on the ground should be able to "base" him for an attack, yet the battle report mentioned that the platform is big enough so Anunub wasn't on the edge (so that the "looking straight down" rule for determining base contact showed no base) so he couldn't be attacked....that is forgetting about the "access point" rule, which says that any figure at the base access point is in base for the purpose of a cc attack with any figure on the platform/tower...
am I right?? I think I am, but they played differently, I think they forgot that rule - but I'm only 99% sure...some other rules nut please confirm!!!
Remember, new game - new rules. Access points and Elevated terrain perform differently. You can't attack a ladder and hit everyone on the roof any more. Instead you have to go up and get them. So no, Brook could not have attacked the ladder to hit Anunub. And yes, because his base is big, he hogs the whole roof. If you can't get your figure on the roof with him, you can't get into close combat with him ;).
Originally posted by Kenntak Yes, one of the major mistakes was having a mancatcher capture the Fell with battle fury showing. I did not realize that battle fury was one of those complicated new 2.0 abilities.
Making mistakes with something new is inevitable. In fact, I still see mistakes being made in 1.0 games. I guess the difference is that some people are willing to learn something new and willing to accept the challenges the new rules bring rather than find amusement in the mistakes of others.
And what I find amusing is that some people ASSUME where they have no business doing so. This is actually a rules question seeking clarification. More so in fact, since Draddog answered that a more careful reading would shed light on my original question.
The challenge of 2.0 will be great fun to tackle, but rules will need to be understood for the game to be played properly. I really don't know where all the sarcasm is coming from, but by golly sarcastic or not you better listen to your Warlord's rulings and follow the rules of the game.
Some of the abilities in 2.0 will have the same names as the abilities in 1.0, but subtle differences. For all we know maybe Battle Fury in 2.0 would NOT prevent capture. This is a valid question, not at all a poke at you report writers for our "amusement".
If someone can't answer a straight question or two from cautiously optimistic individuals curious about the new MK coming out without caustic sarcasm and a borderline accusatory tone, I would suggest that someone refrain from making a response.
But if these are just errors and not changes in the rules, then within the hubris of the response lies the answer to my question--thanks...
Ahh, the Capture heard round the world. Yes, as I have stated several times, the capture attempt should not have happened because of Battle Fury, however, we made a mistake. We were caught up in the game and missed it. It happens. It happens in tournaments. Mistakes happen. Brook and I have never claimed to be the top 2 players in the world. Actually, just the opposite, he and I are evenly matched, but by no shade the best players around. It was an error, I apologize. We worked hard to make sure the 3rd report (this one) and the 4th (tomorrows) were of high quality and that no mistakes happened again. Of course I bet I can time on an egg timer how fast you guys will catch something. :) On the other hand, I posted this report as a headline, so everyone could ask questions in the same place and get the same answers, instead of having to keep up with 5 threads.
Jedi_Master, calm down. I was not referring to your post at all, but to Shraka's. By the time I made my post, your post intervened. It was my fault for not mentioning the post to which I was referring.

See! It is your fault! Hahaha--* Just Kidding. Yeah you should have hit the Submit Reply Button much quicker!
I always get a little jumpy though when my hair gets singed by a flamethrower (aka lethal weapon 4) even if it's the next guy getting barbecued....
Originally posted by Grathel So let me get this stright, your worried about khan rava staying up in the tower...the whole game...right...im worried my oppenets 100+ point worth of figure wont be able to move...wow...im so scared..
In 1.0, yes, that would be extremely stupid. But if you could put a tower near the middle Objective (or, heck, even with two objectives in range) and manage to get him up there, then that would give you complete superiority of an objective that would otherwise be in jeopardy. Right? Since 2.0 has different victory conditions strategies are going to change. I could see more figures "camping". :p
too early to tell really allenchan .... whats stopping an Am Drac.. or any other bounding fig from sniping at fig on the tower... besides.. at the end game.. what if the opponent just dashes off into the center objective...
camping won't be that prevalent due to all the mobility of figs in 2.O
Well Am Drac is totally gimpy in 2.0 ;) but I agree, I know I'd just sit out of range until the last turn and run in. Still, its something we might see. I cant be creative? :(
