I ended up switching out armies right before the tournament. The action disadvantage had me worried from the previous army, and then I realized the tournament would be all clear terrain, so I worked this one instead.
My friends and I have been playing 500 Campaign now for a couple of months, and I looking to create a Necro Army that plays on the strengths of these two figs:
1) Jess Backlock 75pts.
2) Vija Vladd 60pts.
We play 200 point rounds, with eliminated figs being lost to players from round to round (skells and zombs excepted). Withdrawing units from the field is permitted, allowing them to be carried over to subsequent rounds.
The goal here is to dash the Knights and Succubus up to the Hindering and try to get the Zombie up the middle. The Knights are fairly safe in the hindering due to BA, and I doubt my opponents will allow the Zombie to get within striking distance. All the while, I'll be trying to get Jess around the board (flying) and at the edge of some blocking, and as close as possible to the rear of my opponent's forces. As soon as I get Jess into position, I'll rush in with the Knights and Zombie. I'll be switching back and forth between the Knights and the Zombie until the Zombie pops (which should be soon). When the Zombie's gone, I'll use Jess's first click of Necro to dig up a Zombie in the back, alternating between Jess & Zombie (then) Knights and Succubus.
Totally different army here, with both the Thralls and Vija providing sweet clicks of Venom for B2B goodness. Meanwhile, I'll be advancing the 'Stalkers and Razi towards a flank with cover. I'm curious to see what 3 Venom figs can do to a mostly ranged army, seeing as the two dominant armies in our group revolve around Bounders and Magic Blast.
Those are some very good Necro armies, as far as necro armies go.
YOu pretty much already counter the bound and mb with all the hindering.
Ill give you a better reveiw all week, its late and Im tired.
After some play-testing this week, I've decided that 3 Venom units in a 200 point army is simply too delicious to resist. I've redesigned my Campaign Army, and in it's present form, looks like this:
I love this army. It's worked great so far against MB & Bound, although I haven't tested it against Mounted_Bound yet. This weekend I'll be playing against that also. The beauty in this army is it's speed. If needed, the whole army can move in one turn. Both Salamanders and Vija have Quickness! So, if I advance properly behind the cover of my BA amd Stealth on the Knight Formation, I should be able to B2B a primary unit with 2 Venomers, or B2B a formation for 1-2 clicks each. Once Vija clicks into Venom hisself, all heck should break loose. Our Metagame doesn't contain alot of Toughness, so I'm hoping that doesn't change before tomorrow.
Round Two:
Terrain - 2-Hindering
Jess Blacklock-----75
Succubus---------**36
2xGaleshi Dancer-**68
Mend Priestess--***21
Total = 200
This army takes the above idea a little further, but I'm afraid it isn't as flexible. The Dancers have Sneak Attack and Dodge, but a paltry 7 for Speed. I'm going to try and use Hit & Run with Jess and the Succubus until I can advance the Dancers into position for some Backstabs. It shouldn't be TOO difficult, as both have J&S have flying. The Mending Priestess will hafta hang *way* back though, and wounded Dancers will have a hard time retreating to her.
I'll probably simply use most of these units as filler for casualties in my first round army, but it does at least seem playable, if need be.
It'll be a delicate balancing act to get both Dancers *and* the Succubus to click into Venom at the same time, but if it does .... Ouch.
Filler:
Seeth Knight----***31
Nightstalker----***30
Vampiric Thrall---*33
Total = 94
Total Campaign Army Size = 494
I'll post a Battle Report on Sunday and let you know if this works out. Of course, if I get swept - you'll never hear about this army again.
(We play for picks out of a Booster in my group, and I'm getting tired of collecting Marsh Zombies) :P

this army is quite versitile. It can move fast, use shared defense of 19 and shoot from 20 in with bakus or fifteen with bakus, EGM and tracker, elroodon and mochooch take care of extra difficulties by tie up and ram and crystal protector is blocking and bakcup heal. How would you do it differently, what do you really like about it, pretend I have every figure with your suggestions. Ie, if you would suggest warpath for some reason, just do it, what I dont have i can get. Cept those apocolypse guys, Thanks
