OK, we're in a panic now. I know that not everyone at WizKids is happy about this, and may not be able to tell us what's coming down the pike.
But I've got to say this: We need answers. WizKids was founded in 2002 with just one product - Mage Knight. And since it's release, it's players have faithully and dilligently supported and followed it. You have, however, made decisions that while they may have been good business decisions, have scared or drivin off many of your players of the first game you guys ever made. And now, we've been told that our game is changing again after less than two years of a massive change already.
We're pretty bleeding scared now.
I implore you - Jordan, Kevin, ANYONE who reads this post. Give us answers. We're scared, and all we have are a few press releases and a lot of rumours. The fact that you guys seem to be cleaning out the closets of old stuff doesn't help - it's like you're not going to need any of it. So we now ask ourselves the same question we ask at a yard sale or on ebay - if they don't need it now, do I?
PLEASE WizKids. Tell us what you're doing to our game! Tell us that our figures will still be useful in tournament play! Tell us what's behind this dark shadow that suddenly fell over our beloved game.
I have to admit, after 2.0 showed its true non-compatibility colors I was a bitter part of the Realms for a while(2.0 WAS NOT Portrayed as INCOMPATIBLE when it was previewed at GenCon - we were told it that current figures would still be playable in the 2.0 format, that's what I told the players I warlorded, and when that was changed by "retirement", I quit as warlord.) I kinda looked here for people who were hurting like me.
But the ones I truly feel sorry for now are those I once called the 2.0 Cheerleaders. You guys did your best to keep the faith that this game was going to grow and evolve over time, and did that with the expectation that you'd have an expanding hobby over the years. I thought you would, and left off my negative posting about a year ago. But now you folks are feeling what a number of us felt when 1.0 was nerfed - only you don't have MK in any form to fall back on.
I really think that there needs to be an open letter started to WK from this, the premiere site. I think that the mods should open a forum or a section devoted to allowing the players who got nerfed by this to express their feelings. It Does help to vent - and WK needs to get the vent directed at it.
Now we've gone back to shouting at our fellow players. Those of you still angry about 1.0 or still trying to get people to tell you that you were right - leave these guys alone. They're hurting like we were - and they deserve a break.

Actually, according to the Wizkids website, it was founded in July 2000. While they've messed up Mage Knight, I didn't think they would drop the game that "brought them to the dance." If it wasn't for Mage Knight (and accompanying prize support), Wizkids wouldn't have been able to make all their other games - the successes and failures.
Now, I'm not sure if any muck mucks are going to jump back in this former soon because of the 4th of July holiday. I do want to hear from anybody that went to Origins when this was announced. Gotta share with the rest of the group. :)
If you look at the wizkids official forums you will see that mage knight has been cancelled after the nexus run, and they will provide prize support until the end of the year.
they are speaking of bringing mk back, in a couple of years, but there will be "exciting" things to do with the MK realm, but probably not as clickys. (from kevin G, ie draddog)
adorabilly, I went to the WK forums after here, and I really just saw more that confirms what I'm seeing - it's ending, we're not giving you anything else new you can use with these again, and we'll give out this stuff that we're not going to need anymore now to you until it's gone but no promises there.
The thing that really hurts me is that MK is really the ONLY minis game I've ever really gotten into. And now it's going. And we have no idea what will replace it in the future, and if it will be nearly as good as what I've got now in boxes that I'm about to pack up and shove in the closet.
And I know they say that this won't happen with Mech Warrior or any of their other games, but let's face it - after a blow like this, kinda hard to trust them now.
Well this kinda sux. Any of you die hard fans want to buy a whole collection of mage knight? I got more figs than I can count... no really, too many that it would take too long to count them.
Speaking about set retirements, I know many are/were unhappy about it, one main reason I guess is because WK broke their promise.
But come to think about it, set rotation has become a fact of life for many other games already. Be it magic, L5r, yugioh, a game of thrones etc... Players from most of these games have look foward to new base sets even it means retiring their old cards. MK is a game that is constantly growing(before it went dead) and cannot be treated as a static game.
All I would like to drive is....please stop whining about set retirements any more....please......

Everyone would be crying about why did they wait until the venues and players spent money on Nexus and then announced the end of Mage Knight. People would be moaning that WizKids was keeping them in the dark, again.
They didn't want to do that. They have been as upfront about this as could be expected. Indeed, they have probably been more upfront than most companies would have been.
No, they just waited till people spent a good chunk of money on Apocalypse Dragons and pre-ordered cases to announce. I think this thread deserves to have a NO POST FROM MODERATORS OR ANYONE WITH CONTROL INTERESTS flag attached to it.
Bringing it back in a year or two? WHO THE HECK WOULD BE STUPID ENOUGH TO GET BURNED YET AGAIN!
I was willing to hold on when 2.0 came out. Quit briefly when they rotated out the 1.0 stuff only to come back when the rules proved too cool to ignore. But NOW after less than a YEAR WK is pulling that.
I WILL NO LONGER PUT ANY HOPE OR FAITH IN ANYTHING WEISMAN HAS HIS NAME ON!
I'll keep buying what's out there now and fill in some holes in my collection...and play through the end of the year, but I just can't see going through this #### again in a year or two. I've tried to defend the folks at WK, but they obviously have NO CLUE how to market a product. 2.0 was a good rule system with awesome figures and great game play. It was not the game, but the EXECUTION that ruined the game. IDIOTS. MORONS. IMBICILES.
I have tried and tried to maintain faith...and now it's shattered. I guess it took the no kidding death of the game to open my eyes.
My suggestion... go out and buy HEROSCAPE right now.
I mean how does WK think they're going to be successful with an MK video game. Video games are a dime a dozen! This will be a horrible failure and a well deserved one at that.

I'd be surprised if Wizkids doesn't get sued over this whole thing. Unless they're outright paying for the game to be made, the designer is going to be plenty peeved when the video game flops terribly (which I am 99% certain it will) due to open hostility by MK former players. Not exactly positive press.
If anyone is surprised raise your hands (looks around and sees no hands go up)
To the many many great members of all the clans I have had the opportunity to meet over the years, I say thank you.
To Wizkids and the folks of the Realms I also thank you for bringing us together.
To all of you I say keep your heads held high. There are far better games made by MUCH better companies than Wizkids that you can enjoy without fear of having the rug jerked out from under you again and again and again............
I come back from a vacation in the sticks to see this?
I feel sick...disgusted...betrayed.
I would like to put in a request... put out blank Champion tops, without any lettering or sculpts on them, Champion bottoms, and a dial template. That would make it easier to me to keep on playing by making my own figs.
Also, the current figure point value formula. It doesn't matter anymore.
I put in my pledge to support the Realms wholeheartedly in whatever happens to it from now on.
