Since when is forcing your opponent to evade their guy a bad thing? I mean if the game is gonna end on 6, there's no real difference between them evading or you stunning them. It's not like they were gonna evade their Storm or Hump in the build phase anyway.
Dark Knight69
I dont feel AA! is a necessary addition to the Avengers but I like to be able to search out my copy of Scarlet Witch or dump leaders in my hand that are not needed.
The only thing I'll say to that is that you dont' want to dump too many characters out of your hand because you want a full row of Reservists, minus your one copy of Avengers Mansion. I've gone into turn 6 many times having to AA for Wonder-Man but that AA cost me my 5th Reservist resource and was unable to use Wonder-Man, so he was just a very vanilla 6-drop then.

But wouldn't I rather my characters un-stunnable on the attack step and +2/+2 on the defense? :)
Its personal preference. I prefer Cap's to Wonder-Man.
Caps is great on offense, but you're grossly over-estimating his impact on defense. I mean, more often than not he will be the 1st one stunned and then he's about as blank text'ed as Wonder Man w/ no reservists in the row. If he's not the 1st one attacked then he probably gave +2/+2 to the guy protecting him, which prolly saved you 2 endurance loss. I think I'd rather stun their 4 drop.

Hell no. Its because Cap is such a fantastic card.[/b]
Score, I've been going 2/2 for awhile.
DK69: I don't see them winning, but I do think they're the "deck to beat" in terms of what other decks should gauge themselves against. It's just very solid deck overall. The thing is that it doesn't "go off" very well. With something like Squad, sometimes you get those magic moments, where it just hits and the opponent can't do anything about it. Avengers doesn't really have that, and imo the winning deck will probably need some of those moments. It's good to be consistent, but you also need to make some risk plays for rewards. That's what it lacks imo.

Black Panther is kind of like a risk / reward type thing. He's really powerful to have on offense but he's hidden and leaves poor Black Knight out there to get pummelled and then you just get smacked in the face by what's left. I guess the key is that if Squad doesn't hit their curve and cards to the "T" then Avengers will hurt them, but if they hit perfectly then Avengers are in trouble.
I'm playing Avengers anyway simply because I just haven't had the time to explore new decktypes and really invest that much into the new set. But I'm worried that I'm going to scrub out with them. The new set looks really cool, but I just don't have time or $$$ now. After this weekend I'm gonna start preppin' for Silver Age and forget about this MMA season.
I wouldnt throw down Avengers to the dirt pile yet. From what I've played in so far MMA is quite a varied format. DC Modern was about GLEE. Sure Anti-Matter/Blue Abuse/Superman Robots were touched upon but GLEE was the dominant deck. My DC Modern PCQ had all GLEE decks and 1 Anti-Matter. Says alot?
Just try your best and work hard with Avengers and mark it down as a gaming experience. I won with them after all and I plan on winning this weeks City Championship aswell with Avengers.

What day is your City Championship? If it's before Friday can you most your results by match-up please?

This is kinda what I mean in terms of risk/reward. When Squad "goes off," almost any team is in trouble. Avengers just doesn't have that same bang. I curve out with Avengers all the time, but it just doesn't have the same umph as some decks do. It's a full curve aggro deck that finds itself in the odd position of being a control deck. So that's why it's best when jumping on a miss, since truthfully it really wants to be aggro, it just has to wait for the right moment. It's solid and definitely a good call imo, but "history favors the bold" so to speak and Avengers is somewhat conservative.

I know what you mean. I'll be playing both Avengers and GLock in Silver Age and I think the inclusion of Anne-Marie Cortez will help me.
Bloodshot: Congrats on the City Championship! I'm running a toolbox version of ReVengers as well and like how it's working out thus far. Just wondering if you could look over your decklist from the CC and repost--your list on the last page was only 58 cards.
Thanks!
Oh, and a card I was thinking about with Avengers is Fight to the Finish. With the ability to get stun backs when if they attack down (in the classic cross attack) it might be useful. you lose your character, but you probably would anywas.
