Damn you Mexicans and your delicious cuisine. I swear the only reason I work is to support Chipotle Grill and their unscrupulous business practices - two dollars for Guacamole wtf?
I need a Latina that can cook...
they put too much salt in their everything. gives me a headache every time. make sure to get a latina without salt.
I'm sure I've made this observation before, but since this seems like a more organized thread to discuss it I'll jump in here too. :)
If there was an Elite Series that was up to 3-4 hours away, I'd be there in a heartbeat. No question. The only reason I'm not going is because the area of the country I'm in has been completely ignored.
I am in the exact same spot as you, it is dumb that store wants to hold an event they buy every kit from ude for 3 games and there are none with in 6 hrs and they can not get an event
Yes I know really. On UDEs side did you know that Your Move Games had the paperwork and LOST it and thats why there was not a ES in the Massachusetts area. That's what the Problem may be is that some gaming stores are a little :knockedou . I'm not saying UDEs not to blame either but some of the blame should be tossed at some stores as well.
Wow, Rob Dougherty lost something. That NEVER happens :ermm:
Maybe you and Benzo should contact UDE and see what you can work out.
Harrisons has way more room than YMG. Although YMG does have that huge plasma TV in their gaming area.
I'm not going to my Elite Series for a few reasons:
1) I don't feel like driving down to Costa Mesa (about a 2 hour drive) for the chance at winning just a Marvel Zombie card
2) I don't want to play against Quickfate all day
3) The math doesn't add up:
$30 for gas
$20 for food
$20 for entry fee
Not working all day, so you can consider that losing money there....
When, I could just
4) Get the cards online with my UDE points cards and get 2 boxes of DC Legends of the same price as going down there.
Maybe if there was one in Santa Barbara or if there was like...a cash prize like a PCQ or PC points given out or something of that nature....sure, I'll go.
But as it stands, I say no to drugs, Rockies v. Indians and Elite Series' that aren't worth going to.

We have tryed but YMG has a hold on it and we can't get it for some reason. Larry the guy who owns Harrison's said if we could he would rent a place at a Local hall and hold it there because he would want people to have room. He and other shops could vender it. He's a really good guy like that. UDE says that YMG has some kind of lock on all gaming in Massachusetts sounds like Bull to me but Benzo and I are still chiping away at UDE to let us gain that lock because we are allways doing tournaments and YMG has been lagging behind.

Lame. 3 of us are driving close to 6 hours.

So play somthing that has a little quickHATE in it that's what I'm doing. I'm not tecked against it totally but I have some stuff for him in my well rounded deck.

Lame we are going to spend $150-200 dollars. Right now we don't need people bailing out we need higher attendence.

I here you there I want the Sox's in it to win it.
a) I don't envisage doing any better than last time (last, btw).
b) I'm a student, so I can't justify spending the money to get the train from Plymouth to London and then travel around London 2 weekends in a row (I'm seeing the Giants-Dolphins game at Wembley the weekend after).
c) As realistic as I am about getting any prize support (or lack of), it's too top heavy, and not really of much use.
I really want to support VS in the UK, but I can't do it on a regular basis due to the lack of games shops/OP support in Devon/Cornwall, and the ES this time is much less attractive than last time.
The last Elite Series in Texas was in Houston, a 5ish hour drive each way. I almost skipped that one, but a last minute vanpool made it feasible to go. Seven players from the same geographical location, and 6 six of us made Top 8. An equal sized group from Waco (which has a store owner who is also a PTO and has run a ton of PCQ's in the past) was in Houston too, and the winner was from that group. So instead of rewarding us with an Elite Series in Waco or Dallas, it goes to Austin, at another game store I've never heard of (no offense to the store, just never heard of a big event being run there), and a 3-4 hour drive (3 from Dallas, 4 from my house) away.
2) Prize Support
To be frank, the AoA cards offered just don't have the play value or resale value that Big Leagues and EMOE had at the time I made the decision to go. I like competition, but driving more than an hour or two for competition is going to require something for my time. Selfish, sure. I'd also like to point out, however, that I still have my EAs from the first Elite Series, so it's not all about the money. The prize support in Houston was ridiculous, as there was no separation in prizing at the Top 8 level save the playmat (which was raffled off in the most ridiculous manner I've ever seen). 9th through 16th got ancient boosters (Marvel Knights and Green Lantern Corps) for their time and efforts. Again, I like to play, but it's just not worth the trip (See #1)
3) The entry fee
Twenty bucks is just too high for a Constructed tournament with no set payout schedule for the folks who finish out of Top 8. For that price, every 4-5 people should add a box of product to the prize pool (and current product too, MVL or DWF). Again, the payout in Houston is what's soured me on this.
4) Just don't feel like playing
This isn't anyone's fault but my own. I'm just tired. I haven't played much of anything lately, save for the occasional Guitar Hero 2 session and some poker. If this was next month, things might be different, but the confluence of my energy level and the Elite Series just isn't there right now. A couple weeks ago, I still wasn't excited about going, but figured I'd still go with a group and help boost the numbers for attendance. That's not in the cards though. Again, not UDE's fault, unless they want to send someone to Texas to throw me in the back of a car, sit me at a table, and put 60 cards in front of me.
I would love to play an ES... but there is no ES in Spain.
I'm planning to fly to London but it's around 300$ just the flight, then you have to pay a hotel room, and anybody else is going from Spain, so I will just wait for a lastminute flight, if there is any at a resonable price I'll go there and so those little british how to play VS :D
