iron man should paint his armor pink. he cant do anything other than think and hit the on switch to his suit and let it fight for him. cap hit a parlalyzed iron man in the face because he knows what it takes to win. its war...there are no rules in war...except the geneva convention....but thats irrelevant. caps a guy who was willing to die for what he believed in( and did) and wasnt gonna let some pansy tin man try and sweet talk him. iron man should be affiliated with crime lords now...he's no better than the skull...
ALSO!! let us not forget that even the hulk was shocked to hear of the captains death when he returned to earth. if your death can shock the hulk, you're a legend.
And everyone on the list is getting legend treatment regardless of the votes.
But one will get MORE legend treatment than the rest.
And, so it's ok for Cap to do anything because there are no rules in war, but Tony is a bad person for relying on his equipment to fight. So there are no rules except for "you are a coward if you use weapons that make you more powerful".
Ignoring of course that unlike say ... Batman, who had to work hard to acheive his amazing peak of human acheivment, he just had to take a shot.
So, Tony is a cheater for using the armor he created himself instead of relying on the gifts he had given to him by scientists he's never met and that Cap'n would probably not even agree with the methods those scientists used.
I'm sorry, but if that's millions of dollars of high-tech equipment, I need to buy myself some high-tech equipment.
A million's really not what it used to be, the "old thief" and all (inflation - in fact, a million dollars today is only worth just under $160K in 1967 dollars). I'm pretty positive a couple of us on these forums are in the millions / tens of millions, and trust me
- we cannot afford super-high-tech-flying-superhero-level-combat-power-armor.
Unless of course, one of us is secretly a multi-billionaire, which at least I for sure ain't and I'll assume no one else is either (although, of course, I could be wrong).
well it was pretty tragic that cap never had a chance to make up for the huge waste of time that was his resistance to registration. if a friend of mine made a fool out of himself like that i might just cry too.
well now that everyone hates iron man, i'd say it was worth it. therefore he wont win the vote. all i know is that when cap returns with the other invaders, iron boy is in for a world of hurt.
on another note, i commend you on your arguement sir. the best debate over cap/ironman ive had in a good while. cap's still better though, lol. VOTE CAP!!!
Ignoring of course that unlike say ... Batman, who had to work hard to acheive his amazing peak of human acheivment, he just had to take a shot.
DONT FORGET THE VITA-RAYS!!
if cap wouldnt have agreed with the methods used than why would he have volunteered from the get go? i understand he was willing to do anything to join the fight in ww2 but his ideals didnt change any.
iron mans not necessarily a cheater, props for making a suit that can do all the fighting for ya, however the fact still remains that if the opportunity arises, take it, fair or unfair.

it just seemed to me that cap beating down iron man didnt help his cause any, it didnt hurt the registration act any, it was just lashing out and hurting someone without cause. seemed mighty odd,

take out the leader and the rest fall along with him. Cap knows his strategy...or KNEW his strategy.
wow all this termoil over two fictional characters one of which is dead. This reminds me of the my imaginary friend can beat up your imaginary friend fights that people have as children or the arguement that klingons are better than romulian that strangely clad adults sometime have. Ha Ha
Sigh...
I will come out and say that I like Iron Man before the Civil War. During, I changed my mind, and started to think of him as bad. Afterwards, he is no better than any villain to me. Have any of you read X-Men or seen the TV show or watched the movies? A main plot point is that the government had been trying to pass a mutant-registration act that would make all mutants have to register with the government. Once I remembered this, I realized which side I was on. Training people? Okay, but forcing people to register with the government or else you'll shoot them and lock them up in a prison in a different universe? A lot of the time, Magneto gets confused. He will often be thinking of his life before being a mutant, when he was back in Europe as a Jew in the 1930's-40's. He mixes that up with what is happening today, where mutants are the new Jews and the Nazis are the government that tries to register every single mutant. The worst time was probably Operation: Zero Tolerance, when Bastion, a Sentinel that was a merge between Nimrod (pink robot from the future) and Master Mold (big, sitting robot that builds Sentinels), rounded up mutants using his Prime Sentinels. Who knows how many non-X-Men mutants were just exterminated by the Prime Sentinels? Anyway, Magneto isn't wholly wrong. He knows that if the government has enough power, they have power to do whatever they want, and he doesn't want humans to round up mutants like Nazis rounded up Jews.
Anyway, Tony Stark is acting like a Nazi. Or, even at best, one of the Judenrat, who rounded up his own kind. There are many parallels. Find them and be disgusted by them. Was Cap right in fighting? Maybe, maybe not. But, he was on the right side of registration, and should have probably fought another way (X-Men style as opposed to Magneto style).

I agree with you. But I blame Marvel, not Cap.
I really didn't like Civil War. I though a lot of high profile characters with established histories behaved out of character to service the plot.
No way Peter Parker voluntarily unmasks before the press.
Reed and Tony may be jerks, but not on that level.
Hulk should get the nod just to make up for the crappy movie that they did for him.
The Ironstud should get the nod for the purpose of marketing VS to the masses. With the Ironman movie coming out, it may be possible to use that to help the game.
Capt. is awesome, but only to comic fans. Does the world know him? Does he get non-comic geeks to try the game? Probably not. So, if you want name recognition, it's Hulk, if you want to try to tie in with the movie for the promotion of the game, then Ironman. Hmmm, that reminds me. UDE, how about a VS commercial before the ironman movie. It would be better than watching the local car salesman hawk another car.

When I met my wife, she didn't know who Clark Kent was. Now, she knows that much. But she's still a comic book novice. She couldn't tell you who works at the Daily Planet other than Clark and Lois.
Anyway, she knows who Cap is. She knows the Hulk because I made her sit through that horrible movie. But if it weren't for that, she'd have no idea. She doesn't know who Iron Man, Red Skull or Annihilus are.
When Cap died, the mainstream coverage was so widespread! I was surprised how many of my non-comic friends initiated conversations with me about it.
Besides, Tonys only contribution is to get drunk, ruin women and indirectly kill people. Sure he's intertwined into almost every story line, but nobody likes him. Why vote for him?
I like him. He's a hero in the Watchmen-esque sense. Should a hero play god if he has the power to enact widespread change? Is the right thing to do in the long run always the same thing as the right thing to do in the short run? Gray areas, pragmatism, "futurist," and all that.
Yeah, he's a dick. And I think Marvel has succeeded wonderfully in making him the guy readers "love to hate." He's still a hero, though; just not in the same sense as Captain America. That's really what Civil War was about. "After Stamford, <insert 9/11 here> everything changed." Who's way is right?
I still voted for Captain America for many of the reasons outlined in this thread. I'm just saying that Iron Man could be fit for some "super legends" loving himself. It's not totally out of the question.
