I actually kind of agree with Ludin. Silver Age is the least interesting of all the formats. Ahmed, Lockjaw -> Quicksilver or Franklin, and Moloids are just too consistent and powerful for the rest of the meta. I highly doubt MUN will provide a reliable answer for Ahmed.
You just called 3 of the top tier cards in Silver boring. By extension, isn't that implying that the format will be boring?
So if I say:
"Will it be as opinionated as Rocketgurl's posts?"
That doesn't imply that my perception of Rocketgurl is "opinionated"? I get a pass because I said "Will it be...?".
C'mon... you got caught... fess up... or... were you just kidding?
(Like I said... I think he's kidding... he just wants to ifight some more)
Trying to move around words I see, you should try pedling that. I would be more like "Will Rocketgurl's post be opinionated?" I didn't say "Will Worlds be as boring as Megaweekend?" Also I said as boring as Punisher/Ahmed/Deadshot, but from what you say wasn't the format diverse? Try sticking your heals higher when moonwalking out of here.
I would be happy with either Silver or Modern Age at Worlds. While there are some definite power cards in both formats, this weekend showed that the most defining factors in tournament success are preparation and understanding of the format.
Take Tim and Niles' Checkmate/Marvel Knights deck (which, as Chris said, was the best deck at the tournament). Ahmed and Punisher are both quite good to be certain. But it was not the innate power of these cards that led to the success of the deck - it was the play skill of Niles and Tim. Because they knew the format and what to expect, they were able to make card and play choices that won games. For example, in my match against Niles, the game winning card was The Alley (which Niles fetched with Ahmed when I sent Divinity after him).
Both formats require preparation and understanding to have real success. Sure, you can say that players wielding Quicksilver/Fate Artifacts/[insert broken card here] have an unfair advantage over the competition. However, this is the equivalent of the "monkey with a gun" analogy - you're only in danger if the monkey knows how to use the gun. In the end, a strong, skilled player with a mediocre deck will beat a bad player with a broken deck.
Finally, I don't think that any of the cards in Silver/Modern Age are "unfair". In a vacuum, there may be broken cards. But, as I said in my article last week, these cards often create a detrimental reliance that can be exploited by a prepared player. Take the Fate Artifacts. In the Silver Age Championship, I faced 6 decks playing big characters (Ahmed, Darkseid, etc.) with the Fate Suite; and I beat 5 of them (losing only to Niles because of The Alley... NOT the Fate Artifacts).
To quote Eric Bogosian, "Chance favors the prepared mind."
Silver might be relatively well-explored, but it's probably the fairest format out there. People maintain over and over that Quicksilver and Ahmed are ruining the format, but these are all decks no one would be surprised to see win a large tournament:
It's not a stale format because one or two cards are stifling innovation. Complaints about Enemy might have been valid at PC LA when it was getting Dr. Light, but not when IG concealed is facing Moloids in the finals. The format does seem a little on the aggressive side, but I don't see what's wrong with having combat-oriented matches when people used to take 15 minute build phases.

Hmm... who's peddling what now?
Everyone else got the same vibe from your post... but I guess you didn't mean how it came off.
Like I said... SAY WHAT YOU MEAN! Don't just say stuff to imply things you don't really believe but just want to be controversial about. Either that or get better command of the english language... especially on the Internet.
And you wish you can moonwalk like me... eeeheeeee!
Here is my silver age decklist for Saturday. The deck is fun to play, but there could be some changes to it.
etc, etc
I can't see a reason not to run a 4th punisher. You MUST hit him on 4 or you're in a load of trouble. Elimintation Protocol deserves a 2nd slot as well. He's just too good on 6 with Defensive Formation. Hard to say what to cut though. My instincts say Threat Nuetralized or Knightmare Scenario.
And since I don't understand Ludinese... can you elaborate on what this statement means?

What is it about this "information" that causes you to ask this question? You were misinformed about the Modern tourney not having "name" players (which I would have called you out on but was beaten to it)... so maybe you are still misinformed?

Why do you keep playing this game?

I did post this before the top 8 of the Modern tournment. Do you really have to be right or are you going to keep looking for things? I mean you could discuss instead of trying to find flaws in my opinios. By the way, Counterspell.

Correct me here but finding flaws in your opinion is actually considered "discussing" in other parts of the world. We can't properly discuss your assumption of lack of "name" players in Modern being a factor of why Modern had a 75% IG skew if that wasn't really true can we?
And that's what my question was... if you really are interested in discussion. Now, after seeing the top 8 of Modern and hearing opinions from players who actually were at the Chi Mega... do you still see Worlds as being a "downer"? And how did you come about with that question in the first place (which you still have not discussed)?

Wow, that build is totally not what I expected. I was thinking you had a BPRD somewhere to have Ahmed safe but you guys went all-out balls with that deck. I would put at least a Wildride in there just because I know what happens when you miss Punisher.
Personally I am playing a lot of modern age at the moment, we <my play group and I> draft weekly and we are adding two more players the biggest problem I am feeling with worlds is where it is being held. Now hold the phone I amn't saying world should be Dublin, Ireland which is where I am from but that's my first wish. Though I'll happily take a masters challenge or something....
Meta age breakdown....
Golden appeals to the vets, oldie but goodies common enemy, grodd abuse, Checkmate/X, Hand control, JLA, revenge squad ongoing, Titans.... open pool you better have an on and off initiative plan for every turn, be prepared for 10 minutes in the build phase, putting the draw on the chain and before you play a recourse ...
Silver still a vibrant unexhausted format there is a tier 1 deck still either unplayed or completely under the radar. <I'll post it a week before worlds if I amn't going> expect hidden non targeting combat decks ala CSA with or without an extra team MK, Beast boy legend, doom society, darkseid/X spiderstall/doomX stall. Expect to be blown away by deck people haven't seen yet.
Modern, new fresh encourages newer players, not having enough DCL& MVL cards hurts but well :( Defenders, sinsin, JLA/Flash, WF etc.
Create a poll get people to vote.
Negative play aswell as a negative talk should be left to betray it's offender.
People still don't get that I'm not calling anything boring... Until someone one reads my first post again, and finally gets wtf I'm talking about, I'm just going to ignore.
can you explain what you mean for us simple men then...
cause it sounds boring...the top tier decks are kinda w/e you can make..lots of people were just playing cool stuff that was very viable...one guy was simply running every charcter he liked in the game avaiable in silver...along with injustice gang charcters so that way he could secret files...and i think he was border to make top 8...
